I know Shepard's death is a non-canon ending, but let's speculate on what would happen in ME3 if Shepard is dead.
I believe that the Reapers could potentially be successful in their culling of the galaxy, and that Joker dies in a Reaper assault.
But, is it possible for Joker to get Ashley/Kaidan and Liara together to form a team to stop the Reapers? Or is it too little?
What do you think Joker will do, with Shepard dead?

It don't matter what scars he bears, or whatever uniform he wears, he can't fight like a Krogan nor run like a leopard so there is no way Joker can be better than Commander Shepard
He'll just be Reaper Chow just like everyone else will.

in all seriousness, he would probably try to do the same thing shepard would do, gather all races together to fight the reapers. but since this story is based around shepard it would be impossible for joker to stop the reapers. he wouldnt have enough respect/'pull' to have races follow him, he probably wouldnt have the alliance of cerberus follow his lead because he isnt a 'hero'.

he would hobble around the battlefield cracking jokes when enemies aren't around, and constantly swearring when they are.Then he would gun them down with his assault rifle he failed to save shepard with.
