I wonder how much IGN was paid to rate Mass Effect 2 as the best??
Mass Effect 2 was likely not even the best game of 2010. ME2 is a decent game but it doesn't deserve to be compared to games like Assassin's Creed, BioShock, Okami, Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3, Gears of War (a superior third person shooter) and especially the first Mass Effect and many other games. It probably doesn't even deserve to be on that list at all. Even the uninspired Super Mario Galaxy is probably better.
It really is an insult to videogame fans.
Your tinfoil hat is showing.
mass effect 2 took the number one spot on IGN's top 100 modern games

The sole fact that you are a fanboy doesn't necesairly give you the right to insult others who have diffrent views... because as IGN wisely told us - "either way you had an opinion." And that opinion is yours.
Short, you are annoying as ****.
How dare IGN have an opinion too.

Gosh, with EA running around bribing all these reviewers, you'd think they'd have no profits left. And why do they always bribe the reviewers to like ME2? I mean, EA makes a ton of games that sell better than ME2, why are they blowing all these money to promote ME2? Are they just crazy?

Personally ME2 is my #1, but then I haven't completed 100 games since the Xbox released. Either way this was just the opinions of the IGN staff, and all of you raging about how it has watered down "RPG systems" or a "bad" story or any of that other stuff that you place above all of the things it got right, while forgiving ME1 for all of the things it royally screwed up(as much as I love it as well) are just goddamn hypocrites.

IGN is not a single person, they are press, they should publish their sources on such rankings or simply say "this ranking was made up by us when we went to hang out and drink beer." Simple as that. They gave no scale of comparision, they don't even say what made the game take it's place in that 100.

No way did it deserve the high praise heaped upon it this last year and a half...
no way at all any editorial from a video game site can just like a game for being a fun game. It has to be godly and without ANY flaw to be number 1!... after all we all know Bioshock and ME1 were perfect examples of perfect games....
Jeez people calm down. A video game website likes a popular video game... big surprise...

If IGN isn't bribed that I feel sorry for them. Mass Effect 2 is a decent game but it is nothing compared to Fallout 3 or BioShock or Biohazard 5 or Prince of Persia on the Xbox360 or many other games. They should be able to recognize a superior game.Whatever666343431431654324 wrote...

Thats like railing on a critic for liking a certain movie you didn't. I dont regularly agree with who gets academy awards either, but it doesnt change the fact that they got em.
and Polka... what would you say if I told you I played all those games and yet I enjoy ME2 more (as its one of the few games i haven't gotten rid of). Not only that I can think of quite a few games I enjoyed more than the ones you listed. Doesn't mean those games are bad, but it IS my opinion that I like others over them.
As it is also IGNs opinion they prefered ME2 over Bioshock. They're word isnt law. But it is THEIR word.

These are games. There can only be a subjective opinions. If you disagree with IGN's tastes and don't find them useful then go find a site with which you can agree. It's that simple. Gamespot wasn't that fond of ME2, simply read them and you'll be happy.

Yes, I feel sorry for everyone who disagrees with my opinions too. They're obviously mentally deficient since I'm clearly correct in all things.

I would do it for free. BioShock should have recieved best modern game. It was about as near perfect as a game can get on a modern game console. And second place should have been Fallout 3. Anyway ME2 shouldn't have been #1 or it should have been something like #94.Eduadinho wrote...

I would of rated ME #3 personally, behind RDR and BioShock.
I'm surprised the Assassin Creed games got so high, and that Fallout 3 placed higher than Oblivion. I'm surprised one sports games such as NCAA CFB 06, CHK28, NBA 2K11, FIFA 11 make the top 20 either, those have been the best by far of their genre IMO.
I would have trouble naming 93 games better than ME2 in the past 5-ish years. I'm thinking if you counted some Xbox and PS2 titles -- or PC exclusive, I could get it to the mid 20s or high teens.

Xenogears is one of my favorite RPGs of all time and I can still play it to this day, I also love almost every wrestling game... and GTA series games.
Point i'm trying to make Polka... not all tastes are the same nor need they be. I wouldnt expect you to like every game I like (and I love games that are terribly reviewed because they're fun to ME). Just like IGN is free to make their own lists independent of all their readers personal likes and preferences.

Yes they are video game press Mr. Kusy... that review games based on OMG... Opinion of said reviewer.
I'm not saying that IGN reviewers have to be objective because review is not objective from deffinition. I'm saying they are just making **** up as they go in a way so obvious it hurts. Look at their score for those games, IGN gave Portal 2 a score of 9.5 on x360, PC and PS3 while Mass Effect scores 9.5 only on PS3 (with 9.3 on other platforms). It seems weird that they make a ranking (as IGN as a whole, not single reviewer) and they place a game few good places above another game they gave a bigger score (again, as IGN as a whole, not a single reviewer)... not to mention Red Dead Redemption that scored even higher (and RDR:Undead Nightmare that they rated 10/10 on all platforms).
Correct me if I'm wrong but something smells like **** here.

Hindsight maybe? Those games are rated without/before DLC, and I think LOTSB is one of the best DLCs ever -- for any game.

ME2 PC, X360 - no DLC = score 9.3
ME2 PS3 with all DLC = score 9.5
