edit: browser error,
so, I thought I'd share a related lyric; so borrowing from others again, "despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage" from the Smashing Pumpkins, Bullet with Butter Fly Wings

I'm a female who hated the pink Phoenix armor in ME1, but whatever, I don't see anything inherently wrong with the request. Personally, I would find such armor highly impractical and sooooo would not be wearing combat armor with a skirt as I head off in to battle, but hey, that's just me. Also, my favorite color is blue so I will now put in a request for some nifty blue armor (failing that, my backup plan is to wear my black N7 armor as per usual if possible).

Put on Liara's new suit (LotSB) if you want a battle-skirt.

Stop trying to feminize the only decent strong female video game character we have left. You bastards already ruined Samus, don't ruin another for me. :(

The way you say that makes it sound as if strength is an exclusively masculine quality and that feminine characteristics are the opposite of strength.

I wasn't aware "feminine" meant being utterly subserviant to a man, having a glass-fragile pshyche, depending utterly on men to tell you what to do, when & how, disturbing 'daddy' issues... just to a name a scant few... all of which describe the most recent incarnation of Samus.

People weren't balking at her appearance or (god forbid) her absurd teeny voice... but the fact she behaves as a whipped, obediant slave and servant to a man ... this, a woman who has defeated countless evils and armies in the galaxy... perhaps the most powerful warrior / mercenary / soldier in the metroid universe... and she behaves in the way some twisted men fantasize their women to behave.... namely being 100% utterly obediant and subserviant.

Play the most recent Metroid game and you'll actually understand. The writers / game designers all but raped the Samus character (yes... I just used that word, as that's how it seemed to me when I played it... She was not the strong minded, independant, determined, free willed, focused woman she should have been... she behaved more like a broken sex slave).

EDIT: and now I'm way off topic so I'll shut up... sorry but that damnable game and their damned designers really pissed me off <_<

Don't see why anyone would want to play that game. Its a dumb, blonde girl who can't tie her shoes in the morning and everyone treats you like junk. rightfully so since she is an airhead. Yah, sounds fun. It was made in japan where girls have to have tiny voices just to be marketable. what can you expect. I saw one cutscene in a review and wasnt interested in the slightest.

I was wondering if ME3 would include pink armor or maybe some more girly things for female Shephard.  Like maybe an armor skirt instead of legs or a vanity to change makeup or hair.

Armor skirt like:

That'd be pretty cool.  Thanks!

LOVE IT!!! Seeing Bioware's penchant for "innovashun", it would be so cool if they could adapt some ideas from the Barbie dress up gaming series.

By the way, that thing in the link is one of the most ugliest things I've ever seen in a video game to date.

I don't see the reason to put this type of "armour" in ME3. Btw, ME2 isn't a FPS. It's an action RPG/TPS (third-person shooter), not a FPS (first-person shooter).

*ahem* Fable 3 had some demo videos displaying skirts for the female PC. Whilst being in completely different settings, if Miranda & co can strut about in catsuits or even leather straps in lethal environments, I honestly don't see skirts as too much of a stretch for femShep.

But of course a game must pass a certain macho quotient before it's allowed to see the light of day, so I can see why the idea of a skirt for the PC may be repellent to some.

I do believe the outfits of Miranda & co have been deemed ridiculous by most of the players. So you'd just be adding more stretch to something already pretty stretched. Also, military officer. Sheesh, I miss Ashley.

In short, my response to the OP's idea: "I have a shotgun!"

You're a soldier not a girly girl. Skirts have no place on the battle field.

That's FemShep's "come hither" position.  Sharon Stone has nothing on her.

As for a more girly FemShep...which fixes broken nails, omnigel or medigel?

However, I am ALL FOR armor skirts!  Armor Skirts for the squad!!!  Nothing in this universe will be more intimidating than my A team of Wrex, Kaidan, Garrus, and Mordin in skirts.  Wrex in a skirt the true Scotsman way (quad a'swingin), Kaidan in a mini showin' off the goods, Garrus in a kilt to match his face paint, and Mordin shouting "Pantyhose constriction, quite problematic".

OK, maybe something's wrong with me, but the idea of Garrus in a traditional scottish set up playing Scotland the Brave on bagpipes while marching into battle sounds strangely.....awesome.

Depite the fact that (at least) Sheperd's personality has a high degree of freedom, The personality itself rarely extends to being girly. Even when FemShep is in ultra-paragon mode, you can't visualize her as interchangeable with the likes of Kelly Chambers or Emily Wong (two characters that do spring to mind when, on a stretch, may be considered at least can go far as to don pink, if not truly girly. )

Furthermore, Sheperd needs to vault over things and such, limiting the use of actual skirts in battle.

While I won't go as far as to feign to analyze game developer's gender concept, I can probably say that even the most politically correct game developer would probably shy away from presenting a real life woman (heaven forbid!). In a game developer's mind, or at least what he/she assumes is the general gaming public's psyche, there are only cutish girls (your typical Japanime chic), femme fatales, head cases, and all out gung-ho FemSheps.
So if the OP is truly aiming at creating a FemShep who is a real life woman, who can cohabilitate trying to look good and trying to do your job well, you're out of luck. The teen age psyche cannot handle that...... Married men can't handle that.

Is it wrong to like Lighting for being such a resolute character?  I didn't care much for FF13 but I really liker her character.

I'm a real life woman. And I would never, ever wear a full length skirt to battle.

FemShep does look good. N7 Armor shows off all those lovely lady curves. She wears an appropriate outfit for battle that doesn't have cleavage holes, high heels, skirts or any other nonsense that sacrifices practicality and professionalism just so she can say, "Look, look! I'm female! Stop shooting for a minute and look at how pretty I am!"

It seems silly to assume FemShep's design was made to be palatable to male gamers. FemShep is seemingly the only female in the game that is made for women. Patrick Weekes (one of the writers for Mass Effect) specifically asked for feedback on what women want from FemShep. The majority response was to keep her as she is.

I sort of resent this image of a "real life woman". Not nearly all of us feel the need to emphasize our looks to be 'real women', especially not when racing to save the galaxy, especially not with skirts, and the excessive make-up one tends to see on custom FemSheps.

Shepard just doesn't come across the kind of person who feels the need (let alone has the time) to underline his/her gender. And that doesn't make him/her asexual, or even a tomboy. It's just as much human as the opposite, just more rarely seen in any kind of media.

Edit: Ninja'ed, and with a lot better response.

Her character was far too much of an overused trope for me to have rooted for her in the story. I liked Sazh and Fang better, they had a little genuine kick.

@ Aris Ravenstar & Vilma

I wasn't implying that all real life women are aimed at "looking good (= skirt & pink)" and "do the job". Merely that the OP (as claimed to be a woman) requested pink & skirt, and was responding to that.

What all women want would probably be as diverse as what all men want.
And I do agree that FemShep is probably the most realistic woman in the game.

I'm trying to figure out if you are suggesting that women in the military wear cammo skirts and put on makeup when they are in the field. I'm not really sure where you would find the need to balance sex-appeal with combat. In combat your concern is if you are able to perform in combat, not how good you look. I think female Shepard is the most realistic female character I've seen so far in a game. She is a soldier, and she approaches her problems as a soldier, not a fashion queen.

Miranda, Jack and Samara were already ridiculous enough. Let's not do the same to Shepard.
