There are NO plot descriptions for ME2 or ME3 given.
But, if you are new to the ME franchise and prefer a 'blind' playthrough (having absolutely no prior information while playing the game)
Do Not read any further!!
I just wanted to post this here, since it deals with assignments that can only be completed in ME1. As I said this doesn't give away any plot info for ME3, since BioWare is trying not to give awat too much info.

Nothing was said about the importance of the Matriarch Writings, or if any of the other collection assignments: Prothean Data Discs, Turian Insignias, and Locate Signs of Battle will have any involvement as well.
But, for those who want to experience everything possible in the series, or are planning to make a new playthrough to import the save into ME2 & then ME3, I thought you might be interested to know that these assignments may be worthwhile after all.

Good thing I said possible in the thread title. It seems the BioWare rep is being evasive about the aforementioned subject, when asked about the other collection assignments.
