So the question...Would you like to see more light shed on this in ME3? Or would you rather the struggle remain outmatched organics struggling for survival against the superior Reapers?
Also, if someone recalls which planet entry this was in and could post I would be greatful.
I personally feel like this could very well shed some light on the mysterious origins of the Reapers and would like to see it fleshed out.

I don't think it would be a good idea to introduce ascended beings into Mass Effect.

That would have been Klencory, wouldn't it? About 60% sure that it was. Unknown if the "beings of light" will have any role in ME3 or if they are just a red herring.
Yup. Klencory.

I agree, this sounds most plausible.elektrego wrote...
I like this theory. It says that the term 'beings of light' refers to holograms like Vigil. So we have already met them. Demon machines would be the reapers and the hologram the last measure of the protheans to fight them.

Here is the description
'Revelation Space' Description
Nine
hundred thousand years ago, something wiped out the Amarantin. For the
human colonists now settling the Amarantin homeworld Resurgam, it's of
little more than academic interest, even after the discovery of a
long-hidden, almost perfect Amarantin city and a colossal statue of a
wingest Amarantin. For brilliant but ruthloess scientist Dan Sylveste,
it's more than merelty intellectual curiosity - and he will stop at
nothing to get at the truth. Even if the truth costs him everything. But
the Amarantin were wiped out for a reason, and that danger is closer
and greater than even Syveste imagines ...REVELATION SPACE: a huge,
magnificent space opera that ranges acrioss the known and unknown
universe ...towards the most terrifying of destinations.

I think it's been stated before that many planet descriptions are easter eggs refering to other media. The only one that panned out so far was Klendagon, which if I remember correctly, was not pointed out as one. Even if they are or were originally, it doesn't mean they don't have an impact on ME3 story.
Klendagon came about because they used an image of Mars for its texture, but then had to explain the visual presence of the Valles Marineris, which is a massive canyon on Mars 4,000 kilometers wide, 2,000 kilometers long and in some places 7 kilometers deep. It makest he Grand Canyon on Earth look like a rain puddle. Anyways, they figured they needed an explanation so they came up with the near planet-killing mass accelerator story.

Ah. Well I had no idea that was the case, I assumed that they where written to have some sort of relevance in the ME universe.
I thought it might have been an early spoiler of some sorts...as it turns out just a lame easter egg. Bummer. Thanks for the clarification though guys.
