Okay, this is probably a silly question, but the picture in the captain's cabin for my male Shepard is face-down at the start of ME2. I was wondering if this could possibly be a continuation of that character's storyline, and if there are any theories about this.

My male Shep in ME1 mostly kept to himself and did not persue a major relationship, however he did flirt with Ashley before she died on Virmire (with the nuke). Is it possible the game registers that Shep had a relationship (so to speak) with Ash, but it ended when she died, hence the picture being faced-down at the start of ME2?

I've heard that if you import a character with no romance from ME1, there is no picture at all, so I was wondering if my case more or less applied to my character's relationship history. If it does, I actually find that pretty sweet, if a bit sad. If it doesn't, I'm left wondering why I have a picture at all. 


Also, I've never posted in these forums before, so if this is in the wrong spot, I do apologize.

Did you spend a lot of time talking to Ash prior to Virmire? If so then the game may register her as your LI regardless of her death. Never done this myself. I know if you talk to both Ash and Liara a lot they'll eventually ask you about the other and if you say one is ''special'' that may do it too.
