In a video i saw a cerberus trooper use there electric boton melee attack on shepard. it looked awsome and it had me wondering if other enimes have special melee attacks if you get too close.

Yes, they do. We know the geth have the omni blade, at the very least (saw it in that leaked gameplay video)

Anyways its always a cool thing if someone besides Shepard gets some useful gadgets and special attacks which are unique to them.

Please forgive me for being a cynical a-hole, but there's nothing new to see here. It's been done in Resident Evil 4 and 5 among other games. Just took BioWare a little while (i.e. 5 years) to realise it could make for interesting combat.

Well, first off, it's not like climbing ladders and jumping gaps is a particularly engaging, fun exercise. Just makes things feel a bit more connected and fluid.
But ME2 added things that, while not revolutionary, worked for ME2. That's all that really matters. A game can't always invent something new. A melee attack like in ME3 could already be in other games, but that doesn't change the fact that it will make ME3 better.
