Maybe if that scenario happened, we would luck out, and some "Witch" would pop out of a "mirror like Prothean Beacon". She tells Shepard of a ritual Shepard must do to save their LI and the galaxy.

Could you all please be a little bit more specific? Like, elaborate how exactly are you going to continue being happy and together when everyone else is dead? Hiding in some bunker on a backwater planet or something? Also the conscience and that stuff

But would he sacrifice those closest to him... tough call. I think the selfish option would be more interesting. After losing so much during his lifetime poor Shep acts without his better judgement to protect the closest thing to family he's got left.

I'd probably take the option trying to save everyone fully expecting it to work because it's a video game with no consequences for failure to me personally.
If it was a setup where I had to sacrifice someone, to save the universe, I'd probably sacrifice Shep if I could do that, or if I had to sacrifice the LI, yeah, do what you have to do obviously... if the universe is at stake.

If possible I would save my LI and from there try to save the galaxy.
However if there is simply no other way of saving the galaxy then I would sacrifice my LI for the galaxy considering if the galaxy is not saved then so is your LI. Its better to lose one person (granted extremely close to you) than billions of people at least
I guarantee there will be hard decisions like that in ME3 which 1st time round i will play as the ultimate paragon and if it works out I will celebrate if it does not i will cry a river (not really)
then i will play it to try to get a better ending if some of them or all of them cause negative effects rather than positive effects
