Will you sacrifice your LI to save the galaxy? Or be selfish like Neo in the Matrix?

Eh, the Reapers will come around again. Garrus won't. I'd sacrifice my Shepard before I'd sacrifice Garrus. I would sacrifice the galaxy before I would sacrifice my Shepard. Ultimately, My Shep is selfish when it comes to that sexy turian.
Honestly, it isn't Shep's fault that no one believed the ever present threat of the Reapers. In the words of Randy Marsh from SouthPark,"WE DIDN'T LISTEN!" Let the Council sacrifice themselves. Shep has died once before. She is off the payroll. Maybe their beloved use of air quotes will save them. The Reapers can't dispute that logic.
Well put Sticky.
And is that Kazuya M? Where's mah cookie!
And another option for BW, though I hope and think that they WILL NOT take this route would be a Halo-ish type ending where if you destroy all life in the galaxy you take away the Reaper's food. But then again, it is a very half-baked idea on my part (one that I came up with in less than 5 minutes, and quickly dismissed as silly).
But again, I really do hope that BW stays away from the "save LI or galaxy" cliche'd type of ending. They are better writers than this.
I'm afraid it was Sanzo from Saiyuki! But you get a consolation prize...PANCAKES!
I could understand them going for a Shep sacrifice. It would be one of the choices, of course. Nothing forced. But when they start messing with Garrus...Then all support is lost. D:<

My heart beats for the one who is mine so true
Burn baby burn - the Galaxy awash in the fire
They'll never find us - I shall hide with you - my burning desire
Trillions of souls screaming out in the night
Fires still burn, Reapers shall purge
I will sleep warm with you in my bed, never to leave eachothers sight
my cup runneth over - as does my urge
Final screams piercing the darkness
A shared glass of champagne as the cycle of life begins anew
the silence of a galaxy at peace - no more harshness
all of our days left will be too few

And yet....the Akuze survivor Shepard who sacrificed Kaiden to spare Ashley's family grief would not be able to do that again. Not for Garrus. Even if he resented her for not saving his family over him.
The Butcher of Torfan I played however has no particular problem with either choice so long as she survives.

Some would feel horrible for sacrificing their LI but are totally ok to let civilians die. Innocent people and children. Let others perish who are just as in love as you and simply doom the galaxy.
Oh dear...

You wouldn't. Those of us who are actually veterans trained to sacrafice for the good of the many - to defend the Constitution, and the American people. I expect that Miranda and Shepard would do no less.

Good luck continuing your relation with your LI without them being haunted by the death of millions, billions or whatever because of your selfish act.

It all depends on how susceptible to such survivor's guilt a character is. I can see it with Tali, but Miranda....not so much. In the end, most will likely be glad to be alive like everyone else who survives.

Risking your life is one thing, throwing it away quite another. As I said, if it was the only way to win my Shepard would sacrifice himself before his LI, but as long as it's still a winning scenario he'd accept some more deaths on his shoulders for staying alive together with his LI. Possibly, it would be the only selfish decision he ever makes, but there is a point where fate owes him, so to speak. Without him, they would *all* be dead.Tonymac wrote...

I disagree. Given how mission-focused she is, Miranda would likely be the first to object.

Perhaps, but she'd not be haunted by guilt after the fact for a decision made by Shepard. Apart from that, the mission is to defeat the Reapers and to save humanity and the organic species of the galaxy. That goal would not be endangered by Shepard's action - as I said, the premise is that it's still a "we win" scenario.jtav wrote...

Personally, I would still save Miranda. Oriana seems to be a nice and intelligent girl but Miranda is an amazing woman and humanity will need people like her to rebuild itself after the war is over.LOLandStuff wrote...
Let's presume that among the people you let die to save Miranda is her sister. Then what?
I'm aware that Miranda would never want to see Shepard again, tough.

I agree. But in that case, my Shepard might as well sacrifice himself.
Let's hope it doesn't come to that. It would be a forced tragic outcome - I hate those.
