Oh I neglacted the FPS side
Good old Duke and this would be the sidescrolling platform games. Captain Keen is in there also but 3D was nice.
Doom
Quake
Wolfeinstein 3D
Dark Forces games... and now I feel like an ass for missing X-Wing and Tie Fighter games.
Then theres Orcs and Humans, Dark Tides and the orginal C&C games and Red Alert.
Worms. Oh yes Worms
What game defined your childhood?

It's a difficult question. But I would have to answer Street Fighter 2.

A couple of NES/SNES games (e.g. Terranigma, A Link to the Past), Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, and Command and Conquer (the original).

Hehehe, I remember when Duke was a side-scroller, who had red skin, no sunglasses, and shot squiggly lasers out of his gun. And the worst comeback he could muster was calling the evil Dr. Proton 'Proto Breath'...

Morrowind, Daggerfall / Perfect Dark, Golden Eye.
I dont know why Morrowind I played the most or took turns with my younger brother, and played alot of co-op with my brother playing Perfect Dark. It was good times... good times.

The original Spyro the Dragon series were the first games I ever really played. I still love to go back and play them, also nice to see that certain parts still give me a bit of a challenge.

I suppose the game that had the biggest impact on me (and the first one I played) was Wolfenstein 3D when I was 6 or so.
I've been a gaming addict ever since. (18 years later...)

Some great games mentioned so far and a wide choice too! For me it would have to be (for Amiga games) Frontier Elite II & Zeewolf.
