No. Chances are, if she's alive in your game Shepard hit it in Mass Effect. In which case she sent an apology email when she clearly didn't have to.

Yes, we all know the story in ME2 is a flawless piece of literature, because that's what they intended. I'm convinced. Three hundred foot terminators and all.

I'm not an Ash hater although my LI was Kaidan...but..went thru the same thing. Ash got on my nerves, But I respected her. I hated sacrificing her on Virmire. Hated it because I felt like she could be a good friend.

As far as Horizon....Ash/Kaidan did not give you a chance or way to explain. And that damn TIM put rumors in their head which is never good cuz b4 they even see you their mind is running wild.

That said, all heroes go thru time in the "underworld". Part of the journey. Cut off from everyone they know and love. At least we got a few good friends to alleviate the pain of it.

So, I didn't lose respect for Ash/Kaidan, I just saw it as part as the journey Shep. had to take. It still hurt. Cuz I thought woot! It's Kaidan...then...he called me a traitor? And turned his back on me? It sucked!..but then going into the underworld usually does.

Really? I respect BOTH VS characters. Why? because if I were them, I'd be kind of ticked off, upset and maybe hostile/not take everything Shepard says at face value.

Nothing wrong with the 300 foot terminator.

...the fact it claws up to the platform to fight you on the other hand...

I think Horizon was done to drive a wedge between shep and them regardless of weather they were LIs or not. I'm angry at her she was so thick headed it was unlike her even with her concerns over the aliens on ship in ME she quickly when presented with reasons offers to try harder to change her attitude.

Kaiden I was angry at him but I felt like I was making progress with a LI fshep but non LI fshep not too well.

I'll be very mad if VS says you cheated on me they clearly decided to move on so I did too.

Pretty much this.

If anything my respect for Ash in particular only went up in ME2. I was glad she didn't just roll over and completely change her views because her presumed dead ex boyfriend(potentially) and Commander turned up out of the blue. Sure she isn't the biggest fan of aliens, but she was never Cerberus material - she is Alliance through and through and wouldn't tarnish her families honour further after it had been blacklisted for so long.

My only gripe with the VS characters in ME2 is that they didn't cameo in Arrival. :P /hastobesaid.

They should have included more dialog options to flesh out the scenario better. Shepard just came back from the dead, someone who in my playthrough Ashley slept with. And yet she hardly wants to hear anything about the circumstances that brought it about...I mean really? Basically, it was about as convincing as Liara's transition from passionate archeologist to obsessive, vengeful crusader.

^ WIN, yet everybody wants do to indescribable things to him. However, everybody is going to defend his/her favorite character. (ie: Ashley) or want to do likewise things to her whether or not they read her letter. It's more the pace of the writing:

ie: Ashley's mistrust for aliens was gradual as was her hate for Cerberus (in her dialogue) Where as ME2, it just seemed to come from nowhere. It (She) went from sobbing "you were dead," to hardcore lynch-mode "You betrayed us!" and how long did the Horizon scene last? Probably 3 mins (provided there was no skipping)

I posted this same thing in Miranda's thread about her "sudden change" regarding TIM and Cerberus. The same thing was said; however, the exact same thing was done in the same span of time (if you take out all the in-between stuff).

We know that the character is the writing, but as many have said with both scenes, "It could have been better." Ashley could've still been mad, but sudden spewing in person wasn't the best idea.

Me too.  I give them mad props for reacting in a much more respectful manner than I would have.  There would have been lots of cursing, tears, and maybe a slap or two if it was me.  Then I would've stormed away in a stream of expletives.

Apparently I am far less mature than most of the wise denizens of the BSN, with their Spock-like wielding of logic.

That's alright. I forgive you.

I can understand her anger in the scenario and whilst I don't lose much respect for her the scene could have played out better. For one Shepard has the personality of a brick in this scene (and most of the game for that matter), surely they could both explain their sides of the argument better about Shepard being dead and blurting two lines with Cerberus involved, whilst Ashley could have explained and argued points more than just shouting at Shepard for working with an enemy, it just seemed like the whole argument went nowhere and nothing was resolved between the two.

Well actually I respect my whole damn crew.

Even tho I feel it was a part of the story that had to happen...the way it was handled was...too little for such a big deal. Even if the final conclusion was that Ash/Kaidan just couldn't be a part of what you were doing right then, it lacked the kinda convo. that would take place between someone that went thru hell and back with you. You're back from the dead..and they don't even give you a chance.

No matter how ticked off, this character in particular knew you better than anybody. They should have been more like, "Talk to me! Help me understand what's going on here!" Shep didn't get that chance. A little more time with that particular scene..Hell I spent more time dialogue wheeling side characters..:/

I never went for Ash, but i take it you guys didnt see the letter she or Kaiden sends you later. If you romanced either Kaiden or Ash they will send you a letter saying they are sorry and they love you and etc. it was just an over reaction to seeing a lover that was thought to be dead, bioware did an excellent job portraying that.

i must say im rather surprised by this thread.a worn out topic about ash,and so far no flame wars or trolling.....anyway i also think the lack of ash and kai love at the moment of ME2's developement lead bioware to belive that the charecters we not worth the time or work of a decent role in the game. i mean liara got a dlc wrex had the best cameo of anybody and tali and garrus returned as squadmates and LI's.

ash and kai got a terrible reunion scene which gave haters more ammuniton.

just speculation.Image IPB

I understood why she was angry... was still harsh but I 'got it.' The letter made it all better as far as I'm concerned.

It'd be nice if they used audio logs/letters instead of just words... that may have helped.

I lost respect for my Shepard on Horizon.

"Hey Ashley/Kaidan, I'm back! Huh, you look angry..." Some of the dialog was fine, especially when remembering s/he just fought through wave upon wave of enemies and saw a bunch of humans abducted. I can sort of understand Shepard's lack of eloquence. But some options were just painful.

very true but idk where i saw it, i believe it was my gameinformer but i think it says Ash or Kaiden depending on who you let live of course will play a more dominent role in ME3 so guess thats the reason why they gave them little roles in ME2 i know it listed if Kaiden is alive in ME2 he will be a spectre in ME3 forgot what Ash would be because i let a friend borrow the magazine.

Ashley: "Shepard..is that really you?"

Shepard: "Yes. I was incinerated to a crisp after falling through the atmosphere, but regenerated by Cerberus and - "

Ashley: "F*ck you, I'm outta here."

Ashley is the player, the writers are the game.  Don't hate.
