Still love this game and after enjoying the witcher 2 a bit I decided to get back to oldschool ;D

My current game Imoen is a skald and my Bhaalspawn is a blade. Stock Viconia will be our healer and I've decided to bring Minsc along for some fun, I've changed him to a two-handed sword wielding fighter-thief, let's just assume he has some half elven blood running in him heh. Not using a mage in BG1, two bards will have to do the heavy lifting. Viconia will be swapped with Aerie in BG2.

With sword coast strategems, weimar tactics and ascension installed am I in for an incredible beat down? Aerie is the only mage I'll have for BG2 I bet it's gonna be hard.

Actually will Imoen come back as a skald when I start BG2 I can't remember if easytutu allows that or if i'm just remembering bgtrilogy or something? Well i guess we'll find out the hard way hehe.

I don't know the answers to your questions - I'm sure someone else will be along shortly, but I just wanted to say:

I think Minsc makes perfect sense as a "thief". Why wouldn't he have some kind of "idiote savante" ability to detect and disarm traps? And when he opens locks, you could just as well say he bashed them with his super strength.

Imoen as a skald is interesting. It combines her roguery with her spell-casting talent without using the free eight levels of thief she gets in vanilla BG2. Actually, the free dual class levels in BG2 (Imo, Ano) have always bugged me as being unrealistic.

I know that you wouldn't need a full-time caster in vanilla BG1, but I'm not sure about how that will work out with your difficulty-increasing mods.

Oh, BTW, I do know that if you are not using BGT, there is no question that your modded character classes and experience levels for NPCs will be gone when you import to SoA.

If you import either a save file or a character file (take your pick for all the difference it will make), you will have the same experience and selections you made for yourself, minus ALL equipment, but only for yourself. Jaheira, Minsc and Imoen will have the new BG2 parameters no matter what.

Ah that's too bad about imoen, that'll create some discontinuity when I start bg2. Oh well I'll probably not have Minsc back, just my blade, imoen and aerie or maybe just stick with viconia. Last I completed bg2 soa I found it pretty easy, this time i'll have scsII to spruce up fights. I honestly don't know which is better scsII or tactics.

The early levels will be hard until you start getting wands... also Minsc and Vick won't see eye to eye about much!

If you've used a mod such as L1NPCs to change Imoen for BG1, then why not just do the same to her for BG2? Use the option for her to level up to the same experience as you have and off you go without even the need for CLUA or Shadowkeeper.

Stops and starts ... wondering about a party with Imoen as a skald, protagonist a blade, jaheira as a fighter/totemic druid and Jan Jansen doing the thief illusionist thing. Probably a bunch of summons running interference hehe.

I think i might refer to the bg1 forum now as I'm starting from lvl 1. I'm gonna go with the latter party I posted it has a nice mix of everything and Jan is awesome once I get him later on :D I'm pretty sure I don't need an actual mage in bg1 with the bards ... Gonna leave Khallid at the inn, pretty sure I put in a mod that lets me do that without Jaheira freaking out.
