I'm a console player, and even I would rather they stick to the very PC-themed/styled game like Origins was than whatever DA2 was.

Honestly, the only thing I was missing was ISO view. It made casting spells a pain in the butt.

I did like some of the gameplay better however, I like not having to worry about skill points such as Coercion, Combat Tactics, etc. And the inventory system was better IMHO.

Remember...I am expressing my PERSONAL opinion on this.

OK factually speaking David Silverman is the head of marketing and not a dev so what he says about the game is irrelevant.

The rest I disagree with, it isn't shallow at all and the role playing is good but thats just personal opinion.

Indeed...YOUR personal opinion is not MY personal opinion.     They don't have to match or be the same.    My perspective is not the same as yours...I am not joined at the hip or head with you.   I  am a different person with a different opinion.    Can you handle that? :P

Seriously?

It doesn't matter what THE HEAD OF MARKETING says about the game he's in charge of MARKETING for???

Hmmm don't Sales/Marketting usually have to know what they are selling so they can sell it?    hehehe   Didn't sound like Mr Silverman was too informed.      And to Morroian..I am well aware who Mr Silverman is.   Been on these boards from mid-October 2009.

I think we should all decide which Stage of Dragon Age II Grief we are at:

Denial: "No! This can't be Dragon Age II! BioWare wouldn't do this! They've always made good games! This is a dream, a bad a dream! The waves, the elves that look like donkey fish, the reused areas...this cannot be!"

Anger: "How could BioWare put out this rubbish? They sold out, goddamnit! Damn console kiddies and Call of Duty fanboys! I want the developers heads on a platter! I am now going to vocally proclaim my disgust at this game on the internet! I HATE YOU ALL, WAAAAAAAGGHHH!!!!"

Bargaining: "All right, all right, maybe the game gets better. Maybe if I just post my issues in the Constructive Criticism thread, the devs will listen and make Dragon Age III the best game ever. Maybe the DLC will salvage the game. Maybe..."

Depression: "Oh, it's pointless! This is how the game is and this is how it's always going to be! Nothing I say will ever change that! The Dragon Age I love is dead and gone and it's never coming back! Oh, woe is me!"

Acceptance: "Well, I guess this is what BioWare feels is the right direction for Dragon Age. I wish them luck with that; I hope they get all those new fans they were hoping for. In the meantime, I've got plenty of other games to play. I just hope Mass Effect 3 is good."

Bargaining (some) Acceptance (mostly)   By Acceptance I mean, that they aren't going to go back to the old Origins format,  that the "new" anime or whatever style that is..is the future of this franchise...because although there are protestations that they "are listening"    ...I'll believe it when I see it.

Let's get rid of all that nasty distracting "detail" and just give you the barest bones we can get away with..in our next..."sequel"  :P

Like I stated, I'll hang around to see what comes next, but ..it won't be a sight unseen purchase like I did with Origins all its dlcs and Awakening.     No pre-order.   Will buy if and when ...the consensus says it's worth purchasing.    Sorry.

I feel a lot better taking a nice long break from these forums. I still feel the same way about the game nothing has changed. I haven’t bought any of the DLC at this point and I don’t plan too unless something signifcant changes. I found myself playing Dragon Age and then when I thought about going through Dragon Age II I just stopped playing completely and started to play other developers games.

If anything still bothers me it is when I come to these boards the same outrage still exists since launch and you still have staff members talking corperate mumbo jumpo some talking sanely and others like they are you’re boss and you’re going to listen.

I heard about the DLC and from all the information given I am afraid it’s all going to be a dungeon crawl with reused dungeon,… I won’t be finding out until plenty more people have played it. I don’t trust paid reviewers at this point…. I keep thinking back to their reviews on Dragon Age II which in almost all cases their review it sounds as when you read it they are trying to convince themselves it is a good game.

I feel like I have been burnt with this game series. I still haven’t given up hope for Bioware.

I still have faith in Mass Effect however I am still questioning whether or not to preorder and The Old Republic I am going to give it a chance. I think Dragon Age II left a sour taste in my mouth. The forum is a literal war zone that should be renamed Dragon Age: Complaints since that’s all there is and rightly so.

When the game came out I got off the forums for quite some times and have recently came back.

On my third playthrough now.

Picked up the items DLC right now and hope to have a good review of it once my rogue completes the game.

Overall ... I'm not tired of the game yet.  Still have to become Viscount and see Merril, Fenris and Isabela romance .... and gain 100% rivalry and Arishok respect.  ALong with crafting!!

And please, don't think of the forums as the "all knowing" people.  It is a fraction ... people will complain if their soda doesn't ahve 2 ice cubes in it ...

I dont want to be a part of bash bioware thred (but) I do agree with some of the posts on here , I think their repuation and quality of games are so high people expect a lot from them.  I thaught it might be over for Bioware when EA baught them out but I was rong they have made some epic games since then.

Dragon age 2 made me feel like they have tryed to make some improvments but forgot what was good in the first game , I was disspointed a little when people started bashing the game , but I baught it when the price droped and im not massivly dissapointed its just a typicaly rushed game.

Im watching close for the DLC but I know you cant expect to much from DLC I hope they try to implement some of the things people have been requesting in the forums.

As for DA2 it was a good game , I was not expecting it to be epic due to the revews.  Perhapse that helped me give it a good score.

I actualy like DA2 but it is not even close to being as good as origins so I can see where the criticism is coming from and I actualy agree with most of the criticism. The difference in my case is that the flaws aren't enough to make me dislike the game. That said I am concerned about the direction the series is taking but I am still on board for the DA series.

rofl, there is a term in statistics called random sampling...random sampling means using a sample of people to approximate the thoughts or opinions of the whole population. The sample of people have a good variety and the number of people on these forums is at least 100. A random sample of 100 is decent to approximate a whole group of people if the population are a variety so our opinions reflect the opinions of bioware's fan base. This is basic statistics. So for you saying it is a fraction...you need to re-evaluate what you just posted. Anyways its going to be pretty funny when they make DA3 and other DLC for DA2 and it still does not address the issues that were complained about. Bioware would simply just suffer a huge loss thats all. See how well the company does when they spend up to $2 million on making a crappy game only to have just 50 to 200 people buy it. Lol rofllmafo

I have not played fable 3, but from what I heard, it apparently has a better Rise to Power, than DA2. Or more accurately it has some semblance of a rise to power, as opposed to its virtual absence in DA2.

The entire Fable series is a joke on gamers and their mismanaged expectations.   Fable is some sort of Meta experiment, by the genius deviator known as Molyneux.  He set out to prove that you can promise incredible features, put huge amounts of financial backing behind it, and just release a mish mashed clone with kiddie graphix and sell it through good numbers without any sense of originality or RPG qualiy.

The fact that they made 3 Fables already exceeded what was thought possible with this giant ruse.  Molyneux further pushed the expirment by demoing an intentionally laughable and dated idea of making Fable 4 an ON RAILS kiddie game just to infuriate RPG fans and to prove that yet again, a good salesman can sell shoes to a dolpin.

Yes! Definitely taking a break from the forums helped a lot. I stopped playing the game as well and just started today. It does feel much better than having to read message after message of people telling me what I should like. It's nice to take a break and enjoy the game. Really it's actually fun guys. lol

Well unlike you , other people's opinion of a game have no effect on my enjoyment of said game.

Summoner 1 for the PS2
I was told repeatedly was a steaming pile of garbage.  I've beaten it 3 times and loved every minute of it.  Great game, way ahead of it's time.

Furthermore, if you liked BG2 or KOTOR or DAO and don't mind old graphics, I strongly suggest playing Summoner 1

Agreed, DA2 wasn't "horrible" but if it didn't have Bioware on the label, I never would have bought it or played it. Lesson learned I suppose. Dev house branding is now meaningless in terms of what kind of game to expect I guess.

Maybe it didn't bug me as much because I tempered my expectations before it came out because I was paying attention to the info that was being released about the game and I knew it wouldn't be like origins.

If someone serves you a biscuit and tells you that it's not going to be as flavorful as the last biscuit you had because they made it in half the time and cut a bunch out of the recipe, that makes the biscuit taste better?

Not being as good as the first biscuit doesn't necessarily make the second biscuit bad.  I know a cheeseburger isn't going to be as good as a steak but I still like the cheeseburger.

My opinion on Dragon Age 2 hasn't changed.

It isn't a bad game. But when compared to Dragon Age: Origins it is a massive disappointment that pales in comparison. DA:O was a great game, whereas DA2 was an average game at best.

How do I feel?

Well...

Once upon a time was the epic title Origins, after the vast dissapointment that was DA2 which was bland, tedious and average at best. I set hopes that the future title DA3 will be epic and not yet another huge dissapointment... :crying:

Not a terrible game...but easily the most disappointing game I've ever played.

Underdeveloped, lazy, rushed, incoherent... this game has shattered my faith in bioware. I don't know if they were short on resources and time or (even more worryingly) if this is exactly what they meant to produce and I am not the type of gamer they cater for any more.

The more time has passed the more I've realised that I hate this game. Not because it is such a bad game but because I am so disappointed by it.

I was mostly disappointed because i pre-ordered and paid the full price. I didn't think it was worth the money. I guess most of us was expecting something like DAO. Had i waited and picked it up cheap i wouldn't be holding a grudge against Bioware.
