Whenever I get Daveth I neve really know what I want to do with him, archer or melee? How do you set up Daveth? What do you find works best? I've been having him mainly go melee

Never paid any attention to Daveth or Jory, their default settings work just fine. You only get to fight a couple of wolves and a few darkspawn mooks with them anyway.

He works better as melee since he has more skills for it and does more damage. I usualy remove his bow as well.

I usually keep him as an archer, as I already have at least two melee companions, and it helps to keep him out of harm's way, though either way seems to work.

Too bad he doesn't come with a rank in deft hands, though The High Regard of House Dace helps with that. He still can't spot traps, though.
