Any way to partially heal with a keyboard command?

I just installed rogue rebalancing, and started a new game.  It must have some problem with another mod I have installed (even though they are all listed as compatible with it), because I'm having trouble with Jaheira's heal spells.  She starts to cast, the sprite goes through the animation, but then the spell just fizzles out.  No healing, but it's gone from her spell book.  She is not getting interrupted, because I'm not casting it during combat or when anything else in particular is going on.  The only time I've had this happen in the past (without rr installed) was when she decided to start a dialogue in the middle of casting a spell.  But that's not the case here.

I'm trying to do a no-reload run and would like some method of completing her heal without having to stop the game entirely and use Shadowkeeper (has the negative effect of renewing all spells in the spell book at the same time) or using the shortcut command to completely heal whomever (her spell doesn't necessarily heal all hit points).  Is there a way to specify a parameter with the shortcut heal key, or some other method of restoring only, say, 27 hit points?  And I'd rather not handicap myself entirely by just doing without the healing, especially since I've never managed in the past to complete a no-reload.

Edited to add the mods I have installed (for completeness sake; I ran through a game with everything here installed except rr with no problem, although it was a bg1 game, and the problem has only really started to occur now in d'Arnise hold.

Oh, dear. You apparently haven't read the installation order of RR. I use RR myself and is an advocate of the mod. Anyway, it is strictly necessary for the BG2 G3 Tweakpack to be installed after RR, as a lot of problems will occur if you don't.

Rogue Rebalancing Compatibility and Install Order Guide

To quote:

Mods which should be installed AFTER Rogue Rebalancing:[/b][*]aTweaks (v3.1) [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing
[*]Westley Weimer's Ease-of-Use Mod] (v32) [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing. Note: this mod is superseded by the G3 BG2 Tweak Pack
[*]EasyTutu Spawn Randomizer [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing
[*]BP-BGT Worldmap (v7.1) [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing
[*]Sword Coast Stratagems II (v13) [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing
[*]G3 BG2 Tweak Pack](v9) [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing
[*]PnP Free Action (v2) [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing
[*]Unique Containers (v3) [link] - fully compatible, should be installed after Rogue Rebalancing
[*]Improved Anvil (v5) [link] - Improved Anvil is no longer compatible with Rogue Rebalancing due to the fact that RR uses Detectable Spells as of v3.9
[*]Virtue (v19) [link] - untested, should be compatible if installed after Rogue Rebalancing

[/list]As for the script, I can give you a hotkey-based block and you can write it up using NearInfinity. If you don't have one, or if you can't solve this problem by reinstalling everything, just tell me and I can write up one for you. However, if casting really is the problem, I believe that unless you want to be able to use a healing spell an unlimited number of times, I suggest reinstalling the mods in the proper order.

As for the last line, I don't think there's a code for the textbox. We use quote-/quote instead for text to look better.

Well ...

I did read it, it just must have blurred together, or I was too focused on whether you could install it after installing BGT. Do I have that to thank for Glaicus no longer able to be un-charmed as well? He nearly ended my no-reload game right then, as I wasn't prepared for him (I had to carry both Jaheira and Minsc back to Athkatla for resurrecting). Nalia, Yoshimo, and my PC couldn't carry all their stuff, either, and upon returning, found it gone forever (including the Sword of Chaos and Minsc's longbow - rather made it imperative that we get the Elven Court Bow before I intended to at that point.

Interestingly, after exiting the game and starting it again, I haven't so far had the same problem with healing.

I'm not able to tell from the above listing, as it appears a lot of the stuff packaged with BGT was installed after the Tweakpack, so will I need to wait eons for BGT to uninstall and reinstall if I uninstall the Tweaks at this point? The game's truthfully not behaving badly enough for me to want to go through that again.

edited to add: And my goodness, thank you for the offer of writing up a special script, but I really wasn't asking anyone to go to all that trouble - just asking if there was some already existing way to handle it that I didn't happen to be aware of.  So, no need - but thank you!

In my experience, you should not attempt to modify your existing "stack" of mods unless you're only changing the very last mod you've installed. It almost always goes wrong in weird and "interesting" ways... that you only find out about after having played for hours. I would uninstall BG2 completely and do a fresh mod install from there.

You may want to copy your Weidu.log to keep around for reference as to which options you've chosen for the various mods when you do the reinstall. I've found that this helps speed things up greatly.

I agree with Anonymous Hero. If you are wanting to play no-reload, you are just asking for grief if you keep going with an unstable install. Certain scripted events might not show themselves as bugged until the very moment you are about to face Sarevok, Irenicus, or Melissan.

My heartfelt advice is that you had better reinstall before you start a no-reload, and follow a guide this time.

I feel your pain - I've been where you are too many times to count.

"Open the Baldur.ini file (located in the BG2 installaion directory).
Find the line [Program Options] and add the text Debug Mode=1 underneath.
Access
Create a new game / load a save game.
Press ctrl and space together.
CLUA commands can be entered in the editing area that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Commands must be prefixed with CLUAConsole:
CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys(1)
This command enables cheat keys.

@Carinna

Sorry for the assumption that you didn't read it. Anyway, the script is not much of a problem. It's a very simple one, actually. For as long as you have a spell memorized, I can make you cast that spell without going through the animations. We can code it to be cast only outside of combat and decrease the number of memorized spells (thereby actually using up one slot from memory).

Anyway, since you've found out the problem and it's working great, all is good. Still, I'd go with the consensus that if ever you encounter any glitches or gamebreakers again, go for a fresh install.

A simple installation order of mods is basically this:

BG2 SoA
BG2 ToB
Patch
Ascension
Fixpack
Other mods here
Rogue Rebalancing
SCSII
Tweakpack
Level1 NPC
Widescreen Mod

I don't know about BGT as I don't have BG1, but I suppose it goes like this: BG1-->Patch-->BG2 Tob-->Patch-->BGT.

Lastly, good luck with your NR run.

OK I see you're sorted out, but in answer to your question, you could cheat in the obsidian ioun stone HELM24 using the console or shadowkeeper. This gives you +1 to constitution, which boosts both maximum and current HP, when you equip it. However, when you remove it, only maximum HP's are reduced. It's not ideal, as Jaheira could heal someone who's stunned, while this only works from the target character's inventory screen.

I used this while trying to get my kensai 13>thief through the ascension demon pools so he could solo the final battle. On easy. I love thieves and I know this is supposed to be the uber thief power build, but wow that sucked. I gave up without any signs that it might be possible.

I would, yes. Haha. Now that you mention it, of course the games need to be "fixed" first before they are actually merged. Silly me. :) Okay, I really need my own BG1 now.

I will semi-hijack this thread with a question, though: BGTutu, as far as I have read, makes it so that BG1 can be played on BG2's engine, right? If I install BGT on top of BGTutu, would it be problematic? Should it be a really fresh install of both, fixed, then BGT?

You can't install both BGT and Tutu.  If you install BGT, the BG1 part runs on the BG2 engine.  While I haven't played it in Tutu, from what I understand, the difference between the two is that Tutu still treats each one (BG1 and BG2) as separate games.  BGT treats them as one large connected game.  But the graphics are all the BG2 graphics in either.  I suppose the advantage to Tutu is that you can install and uninstall only one of them if you are so inclined.  The advantage to BGT is that because they are connected, you can have more stuff imported into BG2 (by "stuff" I don't mean equipment - I've got the option to import the NPCs with the stats they achieved in BG1 so I don't have to use the canned BG2 version of those characters.  You have to use the canned version with Tutu, since you can only import the PC).

You guys sound like you uninstall and reinstall the entire game every time you change a mod, so you'll probably want Tutu for that; it took an abysmally long time to install BGT in the first place, which was why I wasn't keen on ripping anything out that went in before it did (thankfully only the Fixpack did, which I did manage to read about and get right :P.

I did finally partially take the advice given here - I uninstalled rr and the tweakpack and reinstalled them in what I hope is the correct order (leaving out the options in the tweakpack that applied only to rogues).  I said "hope" because the recommended installation order did not say anything about the BG1 Tweakpack, which I also had installed.  Since it was also a tweakpack, I put it with the BG2 Tweakpack, installed afterwards.  But instead of reinstalling the entire game from scratch, I just manually uninstalled those three mods, and then reinstalled them.  I also started a new game, because mod changes generally don't work unless you do.  Oh, well, I guess I get a chance to fix anything I was dissatisfied with on the first try. Thank you.  I actually was aware of that; what bothered me about it was that it healed the character completely, while the heal spells Jaheira was using did not, and sometimes she did not have enough spells to completely heal someone, so that if I used the command, it wouldn't give me an accurate representation of a no-reload game.  I was asking if there was some way to modify that command with a number so it would only heal the number's worth of hit points.  From what I've read here, I'm assuming the answer is no.  But thank you!

There seems to be no Ctrl + (Key) combination that gives a partial heal. Nor do I know of any console commands. Though there may be a command that no-one knows about.

Heh, actually with a saved Weidu.log it's not really that bad.

The actual gameplay in BGT and Tutu is virtually identical as both use the BG2 engine.  As Carinna says you can adjust NPC stats in BG2, but BGT does other things as well - for instance if an NPC were permanently killed in BGT they would not appear in the BG2 part of the game.  For me that makes it a better total game experience, although I recognise the difference between them is small.

It didn't take me that long to install to start - considerably quicker than SCS for instance, partly because you don't have lots of options to flick through.  I now have a copy of my basic BGT installation so if I want to reinstall I just delete my existing BG2 folder and copy the BGT-modded (also named BG2) into its place - that saves a bit of time (I also have copies of a couple of vanilla and a couple of other more fully-modded installations).

Best of luck with this.  I hope it works, but the problem is that when you uninstall just a mod Weidu does this by uninstalling everything installed after that mod and then reinstalling them automatically once the intended uninstallation is done.  This often seems to cause problems.  I've never had a problem with uninstalling if I've done this manually backwards in sequence.  For instance in my install L1NPCs is third from last.  If I wanted to change options in this I would first manually uninstall generalised biffing, then widescreen, then uninstall or change L1NPCs before reinstalling the others manually.

Actually I meant this is what I did - uninstall and reinstall them manually.  I just didn't wipe out the entire installation and start fresh.

And makes sense that you keep various copies of the game always installed for what you want; I'm playing on an old computer, though, and don't have enough memory available for that.
