Quite a few people say that about Garrus. Attractiveness is surprisingly relative. There's certainly plenty of room for an interesting Tali between a space babe and a butt-ugly tentacle alien.xentar wrote...
If she looks too alien to be attractive, there shouldn't have been any romance.

So Garrus is sexually attractive ? You can see through part of his jaw, he has razor-sharp teeth and his skin has the elasticity of stone...xentar wrote...
Problem is, if you find someone to have a fascinating personality but know they are explicitly unattractive (as Shepard would, given the wealth of information there should be about quarians on the extranet, and the same applies for Tali since attraction usually works both ways) you become friends, spend time together but you don't have sex!Upsettingshorts wrote...

Shepard already bedded Tali. She's most likely attractive by humanoid standards.
Unless Shepard doesn't care about that. Which would be, you know, nice.slimgrin wrote...
And they already have the Asari, a bunch of space babes.
That's right, Mass Effect already has the Asari.
It's like, many people might find kittens adorable but not so many would get the urge to sexually stimulate them based on their feelings. So, unless Shepard is a perv (which should be left to the player's choice, I think), that attribute of Tali's appearance has already been decided in ME2. If she looks too alien to be attractive, there shouldn't have been any romance.

Fair enough, but wouldn't listening to your ideas be pandering as well?DaveExclamationMarkYognaut wrote...
Pandering =/= nice stuff happening to a character. Pandering = playing to some sort of wierd validation thing that some of the fanbase has.
Just think about it.
Making a good story would be a good idea regardless of whatever I or others think. Placing fanservice over storytelling would not be.

I'm sure they've thought about it. I think they're just not sure if there should be a reveal, or how to go about it.H3xTech wrote...
They haven't actually thought about how quarians really look?

Well, for some people, apparently. I wouldn't go for female turian myself, whatever her personality is. But that was dealt with in the bolded text above. In the case of Tali's romance, since we, as players, didn't have extranet access, that choice was taken away.GreenSoda wrote...

How about No. Bioware needs to show her face.chrisutd wrote...
Here's a solution: Don't show her face.

And I don't see why we should insist she should look one way or another either, there isn't any reason for her to be repulsive just as there is no real reason for her to be the most beautiful woman ever seen. I just want the team handling Tali to stick to their guns and their original interpretation of the character - it is their vision and if they compromise that one way or another it will be less for it.
I don't think designing an alien character's physical appearance under these circumstances should pose a huge challenge for talented artists either. Trickier than some, sure, but just like the female Turian 'dilemma' it seems to have been made into a bigger deal than it needs to be. It doesn't matter what the fanbase thinks in this case, only what those who have the vision for the franchise (my opinion).
I suppose if I were to have a preference (I'm neither a Tali fan nor a hater for reference) it would be something that isn't taken to an extreme. She shouldn't be stunningly beautiful by our standards, but she should look Human-like and not repulsive or similarly unnatural. I guess I just want it down played and to be somewhat of an anti climax. I don't think we need our minds blown away in this instance. *shrugs*
Edit for clarity: I definitely think they should show her face. This isn't the numbers from Lost here, it isn't a mind melting mystery that needs to be kept from us, show us the creativity of your art team BioWare and just go with whatever YOU think looks perfect.

I really think they should stop thinking about fan-service here and just either reveal or not depending what makes most sense to the story.FouCapitan wrote...

I don't think BioWare should be worrying about this too much. Whatever they do there will be a forum outburst, but really the hardcore fans should be happy with however she ends up looking - her character is much more than her appearance be it unnatural or appealing.

As long as she's not Asari 2.0 I'll be happy and if she is then I still won't be that bothered.

Just show her face. If some people don't like it, tough.
Same "argument" can be used for not not showing her face.
