If Shepard died in Mass Effect 2, what will happen in Mass Effect 3?

Will a new spector take shepards place?

Just throwing is out there but I reccomend Commander Macrious as the 2nd Human spector. The technology exists in MMA a custom fighter had a unique ring name chosen by the player. Also in WWE wrestling games and Saints Row 2 depending on your gender there were multiple voices that could be chosen. Possible new avenue to choose from in customization.

You won't be able to import a save in which Shepard died at the end.

You cannot import a "dead" Shepard, and will be required to create a fresh character.

If Shepard died in Mass Effect 2 there essentially is no Mass Effect 3.

No. Shepard's death at the end of ME2 means the story is over for that Shepard, which in turn means there is no ME3 and you would have to either import a different Shepard or start a new one for ME3.

It was confirmed when ME2 first came out you will not be able to import a dead Shep into ME3. That will be considered the end of that Shepard's story.

I also have no idea what you're rambling about with the second part of your post.....

Shepard dying is essentially a non-standard game over.

NO.

If your Shepard dies in ME2 then it is GAME OVER.

No importing to 3.

No decisions being carried over from ME1 and 2 to 3.

RESTART WITH ME1 OR USE THE DEFAULT SHEPARD WITH DEFAULT CHOICES/CONSEQUENCES FOR ME3.

END OF LINE!

Don't be absurd.... obviously we get to play ME3 as zombie Shepard... She moves 50% slower, her only speech options are variations of pained groans and "Braaains" ... but she only dies to head shots in combat and torso / limb shots just temporarily stagger her.

Also, zombie Shepard gets a unique skill tree to select from... it's much smaller than the usual trees for the various classes since she's too stupid to learn more skills now... but again it is offset by the fact her powers do more damage and last longer than normal powers.. but also have a slightly longer global cooldown rate since zombies are pretty slow.

Also, most squad members won't join Shepard.. only a small, select few are willing to follow Zombie Shepard in her efforts to save the galaxy.. so you'll have to make do with an even smaller team than before.

One of the upsides of playing zombie Shepard of course is that she has the most powerful melee attack of all the classes.. Husks and other melee based enemies don't stand a chance against zombie Shep.

Anyway, those are just a small select few of the features for Zombie Shepard that Bioware talked about recently.. I don't remember the rest off hand.. but people can find the rest with a quick google search, I'm sure.

Simply if you die you have to start a new game. Either in ME3 from their crappy default character or go play ME2 again and this time don't die. I don't understand why this is so hard to grasp for people. It would have been better if Shepard couldn't have died (again) in ME2 to avoid the confusion.

Why do so many people answer the question? One person going, "Can't import dead Shepard games." would do I'd imagine.

Keeping Shepard alive as well as all other squad members is easier than killing off a specific one or losing everyone...so what that Shepard can die, why would you let Shepard die in the first place?

Think it means that Commander Shepard should start for the Patriots.  But I could be wrong.  Maybe he means Commander Shepard should recruit Hulk Hogan, Derek Jeter, and Darrell Waltrip, being that Al Pacino's working for Cerberus and all.

@Macrious - If you are suggesting you should be the next human spectre you'll need to spply supporting evidence. Also just for the record this method of self promotion works better.

actually you're all wrong, you could just have a squad drag Shepard's body around and have them assume he's giving out orders

*heavy fighting going on around Garrus, Jacob, and Shepard's body is just laying there*

Jacob: Shepard! we're pinned down, what do we do!!
*close up of Shepard's dead body with flies circling it*
Jacob: Roger that! *uses pull on the enemies*

*later on the bridge of the normandy*
Joker: Commander, patching a message from Admiral Hackett
Hackett: Shepard, good work down there I don't know what we would have done without you.
*A close up of Shepard's rotting corpse with flies circling it*
Hackett: I am recomending you for a comendation

you get the idea

Basically, don't get any of the Normandy upgrades and don't do any of the loyalty missions. Shepard will be among the dozens who die.
