I like the idea. Could be interesting, and we´d have a permanent AI squadmate =D (if Legion isn´t one already...which isn´t that probable...)

If it is real, and its a DLC only. I am fine with it.

If its in the vanilla game as part of the unavoidable must do story quests, I'll be annoyed.

I don't wan't another poorly handled chliche in my game.

If they can come up with a good reason why there's a Prothean still alive then I'm fine with it, if it makes no sense then they shouldn't bother doing it.

I can't think of any conceivable way for a Prothean to be a squad mate. While cool, it just doesn't make sense.

I have an equally hard time imagining another AI but as a Prothean. We have enough characters in the ME universe. I wouldn't get my hopes up too high on this one

I would have no problem at all with a prothean squadmate, pretty easy to justify having one as well.

I'm not trying to be insulting or start a flame war, but did you read past the first line? I was proposing a VI built by the Protheans, not an actual Prothean. Though I will second your idea of a Batarian squadmate. It would go a long way towards showing another side of the Batarians other than being the archtypical evil/incompetents of the galaxy.

I read the post, and I stand by my statement. There is no way a Prothean, or especially a Prothean VI, would be an acceptible squad-mate to me. A VI is nothing more than a databank, it takes a full AI like Legion to be a useful squadmate.

If this is true than I REALLY hope it's not a Prothean companion but rather a Prothean themed mission.

Hmm a Prothean A.I. is an interesting thought.

Although I think it's more likely 1 of the 12 Scientists was put in a Stasis Pod (just like on Ilos) somewhere deep within the Citadel itself to help future generations. Why and or how they are re-awaken in ME3 is something of mystery.

It seems pretty plausible to me as the Citadel has essentially unlimited power which wouldn't make it difficult to power a stasis pod. Also LotSB hinted at this possibility since the Shadowbroker was still looking for stuff on the Protheans.

I am actually intrigued by this potential Prothean squadmate. Given that this is science fiction, we must be able to suspend our disbelief. BioWare has made this pretty easy because most of the tech used in ME is not scientifcally impossible. Neither is keeping a being in stasis for 50,000 years. Highly probable yes, but not impossible.

I think a Prothean AI would feel like a cop-out. We already talked to Vigil in ME1, so it is my opinion that they give us a real Prothean, or nothing at all. It would be super-interesting to talk to one and they have been building this up since ME1 after he learned the Prothan language.

If BioWare addded that in simply so he could understand that ONE Prothean recording at the end of ME1...well that seems like a bit of a waste to be honest. And no, he didn't use his knowledge of the Prothean language to talk to Vigil because by the time the squad got to him, he had learned to speak english (or the "trade language"/lingua franca) by listening to Shep and his/her crew.

I thought the collectors looked pretty cool, I wouldn't mind one of them. At the end of ME2 when Harbinger releases control, the collector general seems to return to his sense for a few seconds before betting obliterated. But what if there was a second collector ship out in the galaxy at the time the base was purged or destroyed? Having one of them free from indoctrination could work IMO.

Alternatively just a normal Prothean who was cyrogenically frozen somewhere vowing to return when the reapers arrived. Obviously something would have had to go wrong because he/she is very late in turning up.

I want both, but I'm in the vast minority that does...

What if there's a prothean in suspension somewhere on the Citadel? It obviously had power to keep the keepers alive, and a lack of power was the only problem on Ilos.

My big, and only, problem with that is why hasn't it woken up yet. If they could answer that it would be good. One of the scientists that took the one way trip through the relay to mess with the keepers. Ready built back story.

I think it would be cool to have Prothean squad mate if they can explain it. Maybe it could be part of DLC to raid a Cerberus operation where they had been working on a Collector to rewrite/repair its DNA to its original form. Sort of like a mini-Lazarus project.

Ditto!

People are getting butt-hurt over something they havent put any thought into.  Getting a Prothean Squadmate doesnt mean we found one in stasis, we could get one in any number of ways.

Maybe prothean scientist in stasis waiting for reaper to come .
Prothean biotic/tech squad-mate.
or
Secret research facility with prothean brain floating in goo..
Prothean adviser not squadmate.

I'd guess a prothean themed mission rather than a prothean squaddie. Perhaps a catch of data from the time when the protheans were fighting the reapers that gives further clues on how to resist them.

More likely it will be something that helps to further set the stage for the opening of ME3 like Arrival did.

I like the idea of finding a Stasis Prothean but i dont see it being a squadmate to us, more of an adviser. But people who say its not realistic one could survive this long really do forget about the beginning of Mass Effect 2, when Shepard died.

In ME2 I think either anderson or the council tell you that Vigil shut down... I really hope that actually, it didn't shut down and were just testing it but didn't want to tell shepherd while they was working for cerberus. Then in ME3 The council tell you that they have managed to integrate Vigil into a mech and there you have it... Prothean squaddie :D. But yeah, i oppose the whole living prothean thing.

A protean clone would work...They could have clone themselves over and over.

A Prothean AI could be cool, especially if it was voiced by Vigil's voice actor. I still think that Shepard, along with Mordin, EDI and perhaps Shiala, could "re-engineer" a reborn Prothean, though of course it would take decades for any such Protheans to mature. A Prothean AI could facilitate regaining the lost Prothean culture, along with Shepard and Shiala's Cipher.

I think should this DLC exist it would be set in a Prothean lab that survived the Reaper attack and the recordings of the head scientist there could guide shepard to some research that may be usefull in modifiying the army/fleets to stop the Reapers

The Asari have been on the Citadel for nearly 2,800 years...it seems really unlikely that no one ever would have stumbled on the guy chillin' in cryo next to the crates of brandy and the forklift.

But then again...None of the Citadel races seem remotely curious about learning more than absolutely necessary about the Citadel, so I guess as long as you can stay fresh for that long its within the realm of possible.
