Hey,

My friend and I have recently bought the NWN 2 platinum collection off steam. Installation is fine, but when we try to run multiplayer we have trouble connecting to the master servers as well as each other's games. We can both see each other's games online, as well as other people's, but connecting leads to no response from either side. We have also tried directly connecting by entering IP addresses but that still does not work.

We both have legitimate cd keys and have tried turning off our firewalls.

Unfortunately we both rent out flats indepently so we aren't able to set the router to allow port forwarding (the land lords will not freely give out router admin information.. obviously)

Is there a way to play online without using the NWN 2 servers, e.g. Hamachi? (incidentally we tried hamachi but still no luck! Unsure if Tunggle works as it actually removes my internet connection completely for some reason)

Any help would be great please - we're both clueless in terms of 'opening ports' on firewalls, so if it is needed please could you give a rough guide for AVG and F-Secure?

Thanks in advance, any insight would be really appreciated! :)

Again, I'll repeat myself: the reason I ask is for a legitmate reason, everything is 100% legal etc etc but we can't set up port forwarding as we do not have access to the router admin/password.

P.S. Trolls will not be fed.

Are you on the same network? If so, you don't need to worry about opening up ports. You should be able to see each other. If not, you'll both at least need to open up port 5121 in your firewall and make sure all requests are forwarded to whatever PC you have running the game. If there's a router or firewall upstream gating traffic which you don't control, then your only option is to find a game server host.

The master server seems to have gone down last week. Doesn't look like it's coming back up, but you can still continue once it times out.
