Just wanting some thoughts on what people think I should equipment I should take as a Vanguard.

I'm curently going to use the Cerberus Power Armour (was going to use the Kestral, but It feels weird not having the N7 on the chest...or a Cerberus logo, it might grow on me but the whole set feels Overpowered with all the bonuses I get armor) Until I completed Horizion (possibly the ONLY time I'll use Kestral)

After that I know I'm going to need the Strength pad's for the 25% melee damage (I'm going Claymore Shotgun :D) but after that I'm not 100% sure
the Archon Visor looks like a good bet with the reduction of cool down with powers but I've heard that Charge doesn't benefit from such things.
Apart from that I have no idea

Also I should note I'll be picking up Heavy Charge...pretty obvious but eh XD.
Bonus power at the moment is Stasis, I just like the idea of taking an ememy out of the fight especially if it's a heavy mech ^_^

Kestrel all the way. Maybe the 10% headshot dmg visor, and the 25% mele pads. Otherwise the Kestrel was pratically made for the vanguard.

Armor in ME2 is pointless. Stock N7 gear or Kestrel set .. no difference in gameplay, at all.

up until the first collector encounter you will notice a difference between the kestrel and N7. That is if you are playing a vanguard.

I never saw any difference. The melee pads' bonus is noticeable. But extra shields and health are meaningless. On Insanity, anyway.

I've always felt I could notice the difference to health, damage and shields, but I agree the difference is so small that there's no need to really optimize those bonuses. The only real exception imo is melee damage, where it's possible to get up to a 45% bonus, which is very significant.

Armor in ME2 is more about looks really than utility.

Melee pads for Vanguard for sure; I like Kestrel for looks, tho I think I notice a difference prob in my head, but then haven't done insanity yet. I like the Storm leggings, I notice the storm speed when a botched charge happens.

Interesting discussion here. Do you guys know what bonus power is most suitable for the Vanguard?

Singularity! Reave, Stasis and Slam are the usual suggestions (the latter two make good one-point wonders or full investments, but Reave is best maxed out). I ran with Warp Ammo once, just for thematic reasons. Wasn't optimal but I did have fun.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll guess I'll just roll with whatever takes my fancy XD Aegis Vest please :3

As for the other random question. I take Stasis for both RP and functionality reasons. The Idea of taking a strong enemy out of the fight for a few seconds is an appealing one. Currently doing Kasumi's Loyalty and Stasis helps a ton on the heavy mechs so I can charge all the way to the enemy's back line and deal a shotgun blast to the face ^^

Kestrel on every thing except the shoulders and legs. Melee pads and whatever you want for your legs. I agree the only difference is the melee and headshot damage. Just use what you like. It can be looks or anything not much of a difference. The Vanguad is my favorite class in ME2. Can't wait for ME3 where everything will actually matter.

I would say Slam if you don't use pull much or I don't know. Haven't used reave with a Vanguard but I heard it mixes with Charge's cooldown and I have no exeperience with Stasis at all. I also tried Warp Ammo but liked inferno and squad better so no ammo types (especially AP compared to inferno). Its really up to you, but I would say either Slam or Reave.

While the main advantage of Slam is that it lets you ignore Pull completely (and thus avoid wasting points in Shockwave), it's actually also fairly useful to have at least one point in both. Slam, like Throw, is significantly more effective on a floating enemy; Slamming a pulled enemy outdoors is generally a 1hKO, and even indoors can help you ensure that your pull ends while the target is still over a nice helpful chasm rather than lasting until he's back over solid ground.

Reave doesn't synergize as well with other vanguard abilites (the long cooldown in particular, though it does benefit from both class passives, which is nice), but selecting Reave is more of a "shore up the weaknesses" choice than a "bolster the strengths" one; you use it on distant enemies who are either too dangerous to charge, or impossible to lock onto due to level geometry. Thus it's not interfering with Charge because you're using it in places where you couldn't have used Charge anyway.

I use Kestral w/o helmet and Reave as bonus + Assault Rifle after collector ship and insanity is cake for me. My powers are:

Inferno Ammo
Heavy Charge
Improved Shockwave
Champion
Area Reave

I tried running around with the regular N7 armor but the shield bonus from Kestral combine with the Heavy Charge shield recharge felt like a fairly significant improvement for me personally. Helped my survivability immensely. I really wish that the Kestral armor at least had the N7 logo but on Insanity Kestral armor benefits make it easier.

This build works for my Vanguard because I my playstyle is to crowd control and take down 2-3 targets quickly at a time while coordinating my squad mates intensely. Just my prefered playstyle.

Besides Kestrel looks sick. If I am gonna go on a suicid mission I might as well be armored up like a tank!

I personally hate the way the Kestrel Armor looks, way to many lights IMO.

Agreed, the light overkill kinda ruins it for me XD
if it had the N7 insignia on it I'd have taken it without hesitatinon...but it doesn't XD

You can customize the kestrel for the lights to be dimmer, and imo has best customizable look with colors/patterns. I thought the same tho about the lights, maybe I got used to it, but how I have it customized I don't feel like a charging Christmas tree.

Really? I never knew that. Could one explain how exaclty?
I'm currently debating a little on what shotgun I want to use. Part of me wants to keep in with the entire RP perspective of all my games and stick with the Claymore, while another tells me that using the Scimitar and taking the Mattock or even the damned Avenger Assault Rifle XD.
decisions decisions eh? XD

^I believe changing the texture of the armor... but a full kestrel suit will always look like a brite lite. I've since only been using the chest but not for looks, I may go back to leggings.

Imo for shotgun go with what you most enjoy and playstyle, I mean if you prefer range fire I assume you wouldn't be a VG =D I was sorry I choose the Claymore, but once I got the shotgun ammo upgrade and just kept using it got better with aiming and timing, it took a bit - and still not without frustratio but heh it's my preferred shotty. So satisfying. I love melee too. That's my playstyle, tho there are times when charge bonks or can't charge, I can see the Mattock being lovely to whip out, but I do fine with my locust.
