I am brand new to this kind of thing, but I'd like to learn.  So, here's my problem.  I have a bow that I like, but I want to change it to look like another bow.

In other words, how to I get the image I like combined with the properties I like?  Remember please that I am a noob when it comes to doing this.

It's either take the one I like the look of and give it the properties of the other, or take the one with the properties I like and giving it the other's appearance.  Which is easier and how do I do it?Posted Image

The easiest-but-not-necessarily-safe way:
Open the bow you like in the toolset. Change the "Item Variation" to whichever one you like. Save and export. Drop exported file into packages/core/override.

The slightly-less-easy-but-slightly-safer way:
Duplicate the bow you like, change the variation, save and export, and rename the exported file to the exact same name as the original. Drop into packages/core/override.

The hardest-but-safest way:
Duplicate the bow you like. Change the item variation and the stats (if you want). Save and export. Don't change the exported name. Drop into packages/core/override. Use a short script and the console to add it to your inventory.

As long as you aren't doing it in the single player module, it's perfectly safe. Just make a new module that extends single player to mess around with, as detailed in the wiki and various tutorials.
