I apologize for adding another SQL thread, but I looked at all of the others and they have nothing to do with what I'm facing.

I downloaded the DA:O toolset, and tried to install it. Well I'm running a Windows XP computer, so I came across the infinite reboot problem with SQL. After searching out a solution to that, I got SQL express 2008 and tried to install it.

However, in the middle of the install, it says something like, "Microsoft SQL was not able to create registry entry...insufficient permissions." I apologize greatly for the vagueness, but I'm in the midst of upgrading my gaming computer and I need to buy a cpu when I can afford one, thus not having exact details.

But I went into the registry (Run, regedit.exe) and adjusted all permissions, to no avail. I even created the entry myself, with the same path and name, but it didn't work then either.

Does anyone here know of any particular problems related to registry permissions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Win 7? Try running it with admin privileges or turn off UAC.

While not quite as anal as Vista/Win 7, XP can still limit system access. Is your user account an admin?

As far as know, yes. I believe, however, there's an overreaching "administrator" over everything; I've seen it in safe mode. Unfortunately, you can't install SQL in safe mode.
