And suddenly I'm not so bothered by the fact that my Virmires have been heavily skewed in Kaidan's favor.

Liara looks terrible. And Vega isn't much of a looker.

No. I actually "don't dislike" all of them. But Kaidan and Ashley have their places swtiched. Ash should be wearing heavy armor and Kaidan the lighter one.

This reminds me of a little quest/dialogue at the beginning of The Witcher 2. About wearing armor in combat - won't spoil it for those who haven't played, but now I feel CD Projekt is making fun at BioWare's art direction... and rightly so.

Mass Effect had a unique retro-futuristic art style. It was fresh, interesting and innovative while still looking realistic. ME2 -> ME3 looks like garbage. Typical low budget sci-fi soap opera stuff; I'm almost expecting the obligatory chain-mail bikini now.

And yeah, old news, but when will somebody overcome the obsessive fan-loyalty and mention that James Vega looks like a 1:1 copy of a Gear of War from the same game?...

I'll just copy and paste my response from the other thread about this:

Vega looks rather bland.

I am confused by the fact that Kaidan is now sporting what appears to be heavy armour, whilst Ashley is in light armour (and is that a skirt?). Her outfit doesn't bother me so much as impractical hair though.

Liara should give Samara her head-thingy back.

If this is an alternate appearance pack though, then I have hope that they will look good in their default appearances. I like Liara's LotSB design, for instance.

I've come to the conclusion that some people on these forums are quite clearly insane. I mean Ashley in the 1st game had pink armor! Pink friggin armor! So obviously she was going to wear pink friggin armor for the whole game!

Probably the same people that complain about shep and companions not being in cylon like armor from head to toe also would bark that there is no option to remove head gear.

New rule, all women flat as a board, all men fat and all characters covered in heavy battle armour from head to toe.

Kaiden looks awesome, i'd wear it. James looks exactly how i expected and i dont see why you people are moaning about him. You all treat the squad members like they all have to have super model like looks, yet cover up every piece of skin on their body and wear huge armor. I don't like that outfit for Liara but the default shadow broker white one is nice so i'll keep her using that. Ashley is my only complaint really. If that skirt like thing is gone and she can zip up the neck i'll be fine with it.

I honestly think that Ashley Williams' outfit is a punchline to a gag line mentioned by her on the Wards in the Citadel in the first game. "If you expect to see me in a tin foil miniskirt and thigh high boots I want dinner first."

Vega looks ridiculous because he looks like he got lost on the way to the GoW auditions, while Ash looks like she got lost on the way to Omega's space dancer auditions.

Take some armor off of Vega, and put some on Ash.
This **** is ridiculous.

Vega doesn't actually look as bad as I was thinking. Like Liara, I'm thinking it's just a horrible angle. And I wouldn't say he looks like a monkey - monkeys have those large, facing out ears (Big Ben has monkey ears actually...) he looks like what we were told - a big bulky football player. One of my Sheps will be sexing him up regardless. Maybe he's just big ol sweetheart.

Kaidan looks great - great detail on his hair too - can see the spikes. If Vega breaks regs with his then Kaidan is also.

Ashley...if I didn't know that we'd be able to equip actually armor on squad mates, I'd be worried. Ignoring the fact that she isn't in armor - funny how they gave her an assault rifle to offset that fact. The look is supposed to harken back to her pink/white armor in the previous games. So the design is pretty neat I guess.

Liara...oh boy. Get rid of the stupid tiara. Seriously. There is no reason for it to be there. The red and black look I like - it not really Samara but kinda resembles the original Shadow Broker's outfit. But that tiara...I mean, really? On top of that, it looks shiny which means that TexMod can't remove it unlike Miranda's visor. Dammit.

I'd say kaiden's is medium armor. Imo. Really hope ashley gets something similar or heavier though.

Where did I say Kaidan's armor was okay?
Kaidan suddenly jumping from Light to Heavy makes no sense also, but Vega looks like he clearly has armor to spare, and I can't take him seriously to boot when I look at that god-awful bucket suit, hence why I said what I said.
