I like it.
It's just the hair that sort of turns me off.

My one issue with Ashley's armor is that it should zip up fully when in space-type scenarios. Really it shouldn't be zipped down at all I know, but it's hardly showing off enough for us to complain about surely? Oh wait this is the BSN.
Loving Kaidan's new look. That sexy biotic beast. Still hoing he fills the role of 'Sentinel tank' in ME3. With his powers focused on tech armor and barriers.
Vega... ugh. Knew ages ago I wouldn't be a big fan of his appearance as it was made pretty clear he was going to be quite 'GoW-ish'. Still I'm guessing he is a typical soldier type (like Ash used to be) so the look suits him in that regard. His expression and everything in that pic reminds me of Deus Ex 1 though.
Liara's looking good.

I hope they give him some interesting skills/powers, but I expect he'll be a rather typical Soldier type. Maybe with sniper skills judging by some of the trailers? Would make sense for those that don't have Garrus at least.

Maybe he's just a fan of Kaidan. Now I have two squadmates with strange hairdo... this never was a problem, however.littlezack wrote...

The only thing that disturbs me about Vega is his face (especially facial expression) and visor

Light armor? Yes; high heeled? No.
It looks good, actually! Liara looks a bit more like Samara IMO. As for the weapons, they look pretty sweet as well. Sure, they're just re-colored weapons from the firepower packs of ME2, but they still look good.

I have never seen a marine with a haircut like that.

The fact James Vega's hair isn't final makes this group's work much more important:

Kaidan: Looks good, decent balance of armour and flexibility, fits in well with the other armour types we've seen in game.
Ashley: As others have said it seems a big divergence from her previously established character, hopefully this is an undersuit which her actual armour goes over, or is just her on-ship outfit.
Vega: Impressive armour, seems very heavy in comparison to other ME armours, generally good but tweak slightly.
Liara: Re-skin of shadow broker outfit, colour scheme doesn't work very well, and the head pieces seem out of place.

just admit it, you people who are complaining are just girls that cant pull it off.
I'm a heterosexual male in the target age demographic and I don't like being patronized by video games.
Miranda's outfit and cinematography boils down to "LOOK AT THAT! ARE YOU HARD YET? HOW ABOUT NOW?" Worrying that the presentation of Ashley will mimic that approach is perfectly legitimate.

Eh. Vega's nose is upturned like a kid and his mouth is way too low on his face. It makes him look apeish. The chub on his cheeks almost gives him an overgrown baby face look.

amen.
all the female companions armor is pretty damn unreasonable for fighting, though. a trend i also worry about effecting ashley.

The problem is that when Ashley's new outfit was revealed ("Earth" demo), people hoped that this is her casual look. To prove/discard this point, a picture of Kaidan in similar situation was needed. and what we see now? Fully armoured Kaidan... and Ashley in the almost same outfit. So there's almost no hope left that this may be her casual look, hence all stormneftones wrote...
good stuff all around, though Vega looks like he has Jacob syndrome - oddly wide chest, tiny arms.
only people on this board could **** about alternate costumes - ALTERNATE costumes - included in a collectors edition. it's really kind of amazing.
No, the "storm" is simply a result of people on this board having decided long ago that they know better than Bioware when it comes to what fits in their games and what doesn't. The raging, misplaced sense of entitlement is incredible. There's no "this is bad design," it's all "ASHLEY WOULDN'T WEAR THAT!" It's silly.
Don't get me wrong, I don't give Bioware a free pass - things like permanent helments in ME2 or exposed skin in space seem like awful design choices to me. That doesn't mean I'm going to start a protest group over a new character's haircut, or rant and rave about what this character would or wouldn't do. Maybe I'm the only one, but i haven't played ME3 yet, and so I don't know what is going on with any of these characters when we meet/reunite with them. It may sound crazy, but I'm going to wait and see what context is provided in the game for any and all design choices.
Oh, and again, these are ALTERNATE costumes. The very idea of "alternate" is to provide an option that is different from the standard one. Not only can there be an element of "what if?" to the looks, you also NEVER HAVE TO USE THEM if you don't want to. I understand being passionate and being a fan, but people need to take a step back and reevaluate things here.
