The problem is that when Ashley's new outfit was revealed ("Earth" demo), people hoped that this is her casual look. To prove/discard this point, a picture of Kaidan in similar situation was needed. and what we see now? Fully armoured Kaidan... and Ashley in the almost same outfit. So there's almost no hope left that this may be her casual look, hence all stormneftones wrote...
good stuff all around, though Vega looks like he has Jacob syndrome - oddly wide chest, tiny arms.
only people on this board could **** about alternate costumes - ALTERNATE costumes - included in a collectors edition. it's really kind of amazing.
No, the "storm" is simply a result of people on this board having decided long ago that they know better than Bioware when it comes to what fits in their games and what doesn't. The raging, misplaced sense of entitlement is incredible. There's no "this is bad design," it's all "ASHLEY WOULDN'T WEAR THAT!" It's silly.
Don't get me wrong, I don't give Bioware a free pass - things like permanent helments in ME2 or exposed skin in space seem like awful design choices to me. That doesn't mean I'm going to start a protest group over a new character's haircut, or rant and rave about what this character would or wouldn't do. Maybe I'm the only one, but i haven't played ME3 yet, and so I don't know what is going on with any of these characters when we meet/reunite with them. It may sound crazy, but I'm going to wait and see what context is provided in the game for any and all design choices.
Oh, and again, these are ALTERNATE costumes. The very idea of "alternate" is to provide an option that is different from the standard one. Not only can there be an element of "what if?" to the looks, you also NEVER HAVE TO USE THEM if you don't want to. I understand being passionate and being a fan, but people need to take a step back and reevaluate things here.
You are missing on big point. The reason people are saying "Ashley wouldn't wear that" is because she says as much herself. Her and Kaidan have conversation about Asari Commandos in ME1. Kaidan says how agile they are in light armor and Ashley says she'd take solid armor and big gun anyday. People aren't assuming Ashley prefers armor they are going by her expressed opinion.
I'm not missing that point at all, read:
"Maybe I'm the only one, but i haven't played ME3 yet, and so I don't know what is going on with any of these characters when we meet/reunite with them. It may sound crazy, but I'm going to wait and see what context is provided in the game for any and all design choices."
Also, just because a person says something does not mean their opinion or outlook can't change several years later. People change.

The fact James Vega's hair isn't final makes this group's work much more important:
Give James Vega a Haircut
We meet again. Leave the 'hawk alone.

Ashley was wearing heavy armor in ME2. ME3 takes place months after ME2. It has not been several years. Sure something could have happened in the months between ME2 and 3 to make her do a complete 180 on her character but it's more likely that Ashley is just being sexed up sales purposes.

If you look closely you can see that Ashley is not wearing heels but something like this http://www.mojtovar....p/872_8_s2.jpg

wedges = heels. of course they're arguably easier to walk with, though still not as reliable as flats would be.Master Chief Petty Officer Alcatraz wrote...

Hey, Lazuli, is that your Mesmer build for Guild Wars I see in your signature?

Correlation does not equal causation.
Especially in cases like these where it's obviously totally unrelated.
The rationalizing of what should be immediately obvious to any reasonable person - that her outfit was designed for sex appeal and not utility despite her characters' clear preference for the latter - is at least amusing to me.

Changing your job and your entire way of life would be "obviously totally unrelated" to a change in appearance and demeanor? Really? Talk about amusing.
So hopefully this means you guys will be fixing the look of plot device character Vega? He looks like he belongs in Gears of War not ME. And by that I mean a cartoonish freak, not an elite soldier.Chris Priestly wrote...

That facepalm worthy getup Liara is in, is plastered all over the marketing materials for the Pre-Order, on the EA store site. If its not final, why is it being used in that capacity?Chris Priestly wrote...
I was wondering when these would surface.
These are concepts (so may not be final) of the weapons and appearances available in the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3. They were given out to a bunch of retailers some time ago. I guess they weren't called out previously as they are not final and maybe the retailers didn't want to show art that wasn't final?
I'd also like to know this too.
Perhaps it's placeholder until the final designs are put up?
Because we send out the material with what is ready when it is needed. If we had waited to have final art before soliciting pre-orders, people would still be waiting and the announcement would not have been made at E3. Once the final art is finished, sites will be updated.
It is all a question of timing.
Have you not seen other games or toys, statues, comics, etc with "not final art" when solicited? I buy a copy of Previews magazine every month to help me plan what to buy for upcoming comics and toys and there is always materials liek that inside. It is what is done in the industry.
