Geez, are they doing this just to provoke us?! =D
But since this is an alternative appearance pack, I guess it´s just fan service.
As long as Ashley gets her heavy armor back, I´m good...or perhaps she died as well and was reconstructed as an engineer/adept =P

I was wondering when these would surface.
These are concepts (so may not be final) of the weapons and appearances available in the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3. They were given out to a bunch of retailers some time ago. I guess they weren't called out previously as they are not final and maybe the retailers didn't want to show art that wasn't final?

Ashley was wearing heavy armor in ME2. ME3 takes place months after ME2. It has not been several years. Sure something could have happened in the months between ME2 and 3 to make her do a complete 180 on her character but it's more likely that Ashley is just being sexed up sales purposes.
Like becoming a Spectre? Hmmmmmmmm.
Are you seriously going to make the argument that being made a Spectre and taking on more dangerous missions causes her to ditch her armor? So the Soldier becomes a Spectre and ditches the heavy armor. The Sentinel becomes a Spectre and goes from light to medium armor. No, you can't be serious. You really had me going for a moment.![]()
Much better, I hope that they give her boots if they make armour outfit for her.Mesina2 wrote...

This.
Want.
Ashley is a soldier, not a biotic, she can't get away with wearing clothes on a battlefield. She uses armour. End of.
DO WANT!

Correlation does not equal causation.
Especially in cases like these where it's obviously totally unrelated.
The rationalizing of what should be immediately obvious to any reasonable person - that her outfit was designed for sex appeal and not utility despite her characters' clear preference for the latter - is at least amusing to me.

Changing your job and your entire way of life would be "obviously totally unrelated" to a change in appearance and demeanor? Really? Talk about amusing.

No, you're totally right, every Spectre does the exact same job, takes the same missions, the same approach to those missions, etc etc etc. There's absolutely no way two people could become Spectres and go on drastically different paths afterwards. And don't even THINK, not for one second, that things could happen in their lives that would make them want to make major changes to how they go about their work. We are all locked into any statement or preference we've made at any point in our lives, no matter what changes around us.

Keep going with this idiosyncratic post-hoc rationalization stuff, I'm using it to power my toaster oven.

Becoming a Spectre was basically along the lines of what I was thinking last night. Now before you say, well Kaidan became a Spectre too, first I would say that you never meet them both in one playthrough, so that 'dissonance' will never be immediately apparent. Second, I'd say it's not really dissonant past the surface, because I'm not saying "she's a Spectre therefore she should wear light armor", merely that it makes it more within the realm of possibility that she could wear light armor. She could also be wearing heavy armor. But perhaps she's taking a more covert role. As for Kaidan, he could also be wearing light armor, but there's nothing really in his character making him opposed to heavy armor, and maybe he's not taking that sake kind of role.
And I'm just not seeing it as being that sexualized. It looks nice. It's not something I think would 'help people masturbate.'

That's a poor excuse for a handwave, since that didin't stop Nihlus, Shepard and Vasir to be walking powerhouses.
