Ashley's outfit is insulting. It's an obvious attempt at a skankwear outfit. It's meant to evoke a miniskirt-with-thigh-high-boots effect. This is quite contrary to her "tinfoil miniskirt" comment on the Citadel. Oh, Ashley, you've sold out. Or rather, BioWare has sold YOU out. Not encouraging, BioWare!

That's a poor excuse for a handwave, since that didin't stop Nihlus, Shepard and Vasir to be walking powerhouses.
Were they the same characters as Ashley? Did they have the same background, same missions, anything in common other than the Spectre banner? What does it matter what they did? All Spectres are not the same.
look at Kaidan. He's supposedly a Spectre too. He's a sentinel. Ashley's a soldier. Which one should be more of a powerhouse? Nevertheless he wears heavier armor. Where's logic in that?

Wedge heels.
Garters.
Thigh-highs.
Miniskirt (or miniskirt-evoking shirt).
Lower cut neckline.
Longer hair.
Chest "armor" that forms tightly around the boobs.
Common sense indeed.
I see those things, but not your conclusion based on them. It's a pretty conservative looking outfit.

That same reasoning can be used why Ashley didn't change due to her military upbringing.

When compared to Miranda, Samara, and Jack - sure. When compared to Ashley Williams in Mass Effect 1-2, no.

Ashley was wearing heavy armor in ME2. ME3 takes place months after ME2. It has not been several years. Sure something could have happened in the months between ME2 and 3 to make her do a complete 180 on her character but it's more likely that Ashley is just being sexed up sales purposes.
Like becoming a Spectre? Hmmmmmmmm.
Are you seriously going to make the argument that being made a Spectre and taking on more dangerous missions causes her to ditch her armor? So the Soldier becomes a Spectre and ditches the heavy armor. The Sentinel becomes a Spectre and goes from light to medium armor. No, you can't be serious. You really had me going for a moment.![]()
No, you're totally right, every Spectre does the exact same job, takes the same missions, the same approach to those missions, etc etc etc. There's absolutely no way two people could become Spectres and go on drastically different paths afterwards. And don't even THINK, not for one second, that things could happen in their lives that would make them want to make major changes to how they go about their work. We are all locked into any statement or preference we've made at any point in our lives, no matter what changes around us.
Every Spectre we've seen thus far, despite varying classes wore armor. Even the biotics. So a front line Soldier with an expressed preference for heavy armor is going to start traipsing around in less armor then Liara? Even long range fighters like Garrus and Infiltrators in general wear medium armor and they snipe from a distance. You are arguing just to argue at this point.

Why did you pick a picture of her in ME1 light armour?
Should be ME1 heavy armour VS catsuit.
ME1 medium armor actually, thats the armor she is wearing when you recruit her, NOT the heavy armor so it should be ME1 Medium Armor vs Me3 Light Armor....
On that note: why is everyone complaining saying well Kaiden is wearing heavy armor, that makes no sense he's a biotic! When actually Kaiden is wearing medium armor, which does make sense for a Biotic, especially since you have Shep and Vasir off the top of my head as biotics with Medium armor...

Yes. That's what garters are for. That you aren't personally particularly intrigued by them doesn't alter their inherent purpose.

His outfit doesn't contradict previously established characterization because he doesn't have any.

Two totally different scenarios for two totally different people. Nevermind that we're all debating assumptions/guesswork as far as Ashley goes (and based on possibly-not-final, ALTERNATE art) - the point I was making is that it's perfectly logical that Ashley becoming a Spectre may mean her work has called for a different approach. People do not just stand pat and stick to what they've done as the world changes around them.
The difference in this debate, of course, is that I'm perfectly willing to accept the idea that this look is based solely on "sexy" motivation. The other side seems completely incapable of recognizing the possbility that it's for story reasons. #theinternet

Ever since elastic was invented, garters became utterly purposeless pieces of fetish wear. Their sole modern function is sex appeal. And her armor has them, god knows why.

I don't care much about practicality in fictional armor, that aside I'd say she's wearing Kasumi level armor. Not a big deal, if explained adequately. If not explained, well, I still don't find it that big of a deal.ipgd wrote...

Probably because they've changed her visual completely; Vega is a new character. And, trust me, he doesn't please aswell.
