Honestly, I would probably be giving Ash's outfit more of a "benefit of the doubt" if Kaidan was ALSO wearing a catsuit. But Kaidan is armored up like he's expecting a real fight, and his specialization in ME1 made him unable to wear all but light armor. So why is Kaidan wearing medium armor, and Ashley—who could wear heavy armor in ME1—wearing what looks to be a civilian outfit?

This.
I have to say, the materials of Ashs armor look great, they just don't fit Ash at all. I'd be happy to see some more flexible light armor like that but please BW put it on Characters that would use light armor (maybe Jack, Liara or Kaiden).

BTW: I think Liaras armor is actually fine. Kinda reminds me of the old colossus I had her wear in ME1.

Because nobody, and I mean NOBODY, wants to see Kaiden in a catsuit. Ever. For any reason. That would be...scary.

And everybody wants to see Ash wear something that contradicts what she said in the past?

In civilian life, I could actually see Ashely wearing it. I doubt Kaiden dresses in a catsuit when walking around public.

Pretty much this.

It's been 3 years... People change and quite honestly people need to let it go. Everyone's gonna cry till the day the game comes out then play the game and shut the hell up. That's BSN for you.

I just attribute her change in attire to her change from B4 (aka color guard, honor guard) to S1 (orbital deployment, reconnaissance, infiltration, assault forces.)

I wouldn't say 'nobody' wants to see that.

Ashley was never color guard and S doesn't stand for "orbital deployment, reconnaissance, infiltration, assault forces".  That's someone's RPG rules.

B4 is infantry.

The light armor may have unforeseen benefits. Maybe it's a prototype armor: all you have is a picture and preconceived notions that have been violated so you're pissed.

Kaidan, Vega, and Shepard should be in the same light armor with unforseen benefits, then, no?

She was wearing heavy armor in ME2, which takes place a few months before ME3. She doesn't go from being a soldier to Miranda in a few months, unless that Seeker that stung her injected something that turned her into a space ****.

Yes, because Spectres, unlike marines, don't see any combat. They do often prostitute themselves, though. Hence the change of attire.

Miniskirt (or miniskirt-evoking shirt).
Lower cut neckline.
Longer hair.
Chest "armor" that forms tightly around the boobs.

How does it change the fact that she'll be getting into battlezones?

Yes. 3 years has a huge impact on how bullets affect armor...

Sorry, when Bioware goes pinup with their heroines, I'm going to call them on it. You'll have to deal with the 'crying'. :)

First of all, It's been a couple of month since Horizon, not three years.

Second, people may change but I hope Ash kept her sense as a soldier.

Thirdly (and most importantly): It makes perfect sense for people to cry out now since (as Evil Chris stated) this is not final so there may even be a chance to have some minor influence on changes.
(Mind you, before people start to lynch me, I am not saying the fans should decide anything, I am just saying, we should make our opinions known since BW always asks for feedback. Decisions is theirs of course but they should make an informed one.)

You might want to check your spelling there. And no, not necessarily. Kaidan and Ashley can't be in the same game, Vega is not a Spectre, and Shepard's Spectre status is choice dependent. It could be Spectre supplied. I pulled this off the top of my head and quite honestly BioWare will do the same. They'll somehow explain it in-game and you'll accept it.

Not including Shepard, they are all renegade - prepared to shoot first and ask questions later. Of course they wore more armour - the situaitons they'd put themselves in meant they'd get shot at a lot.

Saren - I don't need to explain.
Nihlus - was chased by Samara, whose job it is to hunt the 'unjust', and only escapes by creating a situation where an innocent could have died.
Tela Vasir - helped blow up a building of innocents, or at the very least worked alongside the people that did that.

Ash may yet turn out to be a more diplomatic Spectre. Her outfit seems more like the Cerberus Officer's outfit than anything else, and I always thought that looked pretty proffessional.

Really, it's not because they were more renegades that they had heavier armor or heavier protection like Adept Shep and his/hers biotic barriers. No, it's because Spectre's needs their armor, because they are usually sent to situations, where diplomacy had already failed. After all Spectre's are Councils first and last line of defence. Yes, diplomacy could still be way to solve the problem, but usually in situations where Spectre's are sent, those people won't first ask questions. They will shoot first and that's why you need to be prepared and real armor for people like Ashley is the only way. She is not biotic, which would provide you extra armor compensating the lack of heavier armoring.

Even if we have full paragon Shep and that way diplomatic Spectre, you would usually need to fight a lot, before you can even get in those diplomatic situations, which means you need your armor and/or biotic skills. So, even with diplomacy, you would need to be prepared for fight.

And this Ash's newest outfit is not something you should use in fight. Now I could actually accept this Ash outfit more openly, if she would be biotic. That way she would still have her barriers. But because she is soldier, she have to relay in armors, which she clearly lacks with this newest outfit.

Using something like that outfit would be extremely unpractical, OOC for Ash and most of all it's downright idiotic to go battle in suit like that. It's practically suicide.

I mean seriously, even Liara had better armor and she is biotic, who are supposed to be lighter armoured.
No, BW better to make a real armor for Ash and if they want to keep this current, then it's should be something she would wear in Normandy, except it would still be OOC for her.

So what I learned here is that Liara has bad taste, I should have left Ashley on Virmire to spare her this indignity, and James' personal quest will involve hunting down the ugly stick he was beaten with as a child.
