Real women would have better sense to wear proper gear.  Do you see female marines or women in the armed forces wearing thigh highs and garter belts into a warzone?

Bioware does not have a hand in it, that's why.

Depends on the helmet and if 'helmet' includes 'breather masks'.

A breather mask is most definitely NOT a helmet, as it is a MASK.

They're basically treated like helmets in the MEverse, at least as far as we've seen in ME2, since several squaddies wear them in lieu of an actual helmet. Surprised me the first time I saw it (I usually take Thane, Zaeed, Grunt or Garrus with me, all of whom have actual helmets, so imagine my surprise when I took Mordin...)

All the more reason to express my concerns. It's not too late to change it. If you don't like what I have to say on the subject, TOO BAD. I suggest you get glad in the same pants you got mad in. Or not.

I was trying to help you, but this is what I get?

I'm not  mad, I'm just surprised at all the butt hurt over this. It's not a catsuit. Chill.

Help me do WHAT? To quote Elvira, Mistress of the Dark: "If I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you."

You're trying to pooh-pooh many people's very real concerns about Ashley's characterization with a random tweet from Casey Hudson. I'm not so easily mollified. Now if it was a PICTURE, that would be a different story.

You have consistently and completely missed every point I've tried to make about CONSISTENCY. So I'll spell it out for you YET AGAIN.

Kaidan in ME1: Light armor only
Kaidan in ME2: Medium armor, new design (on Horizon at least)
Kaidan in ME3: Medium armor from what we've seen so far

Ashley in ME1: Heavy armor, as well as medium and light
Ashley in ME2: Same as ME1 from what we can tell.
Ashley in ME3: Clothing with some attached armor pieces from what we've seen so far.

Understand?

I was trying to help you see that there isn't really anything to worry about.

Casey Hudson's tweet addresses that quite well.

Personally if thigh highs and garter belts became to uniform for ALL marines,  I wouldn't complain...  but,  I do find it sad that ladies have to be prettied up for war.  As long as femme shep has real armor though I won't rage...  too very much.

No, they are treated like masks, as they are only worn in places where the air is uncompatible for them. A helmet can be worn at any time.

I'd prefer them come home safely so they can wear those thigh highs and garter belts where they might be more easily appreciated.

What the hell does Ashely's outfit have to do with the game's Mature rating?

Some time ago Fox News called ME a porn simulator because of the love scene in the first game.  They incredibly exaggerated events and made up actions you could take regarding the sex scene. Basically they committed slander.  Casey Hudson, said that they went for a more PG-13 style with ME2.  Many, and rightfully so in my opinion, think it was in response to FAUX New's ****** poor discussion of the original game with their so-called expert who didn't play the game at all.  In fact, none of them played it and had no idea of what was going on in the story nevermind the love scene.

Well, with the change to a PG-13 style we got constant swearing, high school jock-like behavior, women (and Jacob and Thane) in skin tight clothing or a bra strap in Jack's case.  We got camera angles that, if they didn't fixate on parts of a character's anatomy, made me you look at that bit of anatomy.  This is aimed namely at Miranda.  The depiction of women in the game was pretty poor when you consider how they all were directed and how they acted.  Probably the most natural romance progression that led to anywhere (Samara's didn't go anywhere) was reduced to a strip tease and dance.  Yes I'm talking about Kelly.

Then there was complete refusal to abide by the lore established in the first game.  Those same characters with skin tight clothing, and very little clothing are in hazardous areas with half-face breath masks meanwhile Shepard (both male and female) are covered from head to toe in those areas and where air is scarce to non-existent.  The only place people can survive in a vacuum is in children's storys...that's if people are allowed to exist in space without having a suit on in children's stories.  The only one that comes to mind is Silverhawks from the '80s.

In any case, all the above took Mass Effect, which was supposed to be a mature story, and made it into something completely opposite from what it's supposed to be.  Many of the things in ME2 made me feel like I was being treated like a little boy.  "Take a look at her cleavage!"  "Look, she's practically topless!"  "Say it with me...space boobs." "Check out [insert well-known phrase here for Miranda]."

The last thing I, as an adult male, want out of my entertainment is anything that serves to belittle me when I pay for it.  Actually I should say I never want that, nevermind it being the last thing I want.

All I want is this: if you're going to start telling me story in a three-part series along the lines of "Interview with a Vampire" don't give me "Twilight".

I agree.  That really wasn't the point, though.  'Helmet' could be a blanket term for 'things your squad mates wear on their head in combat' which would include helmets and masks and...headresses made of leaves.

ME2/3 and DA2 make the main character look like a total wimp for wearing armor while the squadmates run around deflecting bullets with their nipple straps,V necks, high heels and catsuits.

My point is if you think what Ashely's wearing makes her a sex symbol, than you have a very underdeveloped sense of sex. As I've stated numerous times, I don't like the outfit, but some of you act like she's dressed in DOA style-attire.

Do I like it? No. Do I think she was made that way for ****** material? Hell no. It's just a normal looking outfit.

And honestly, even if it is the only thing she can wear - which I don't believe, I do take Case and Chris at their word - it's not a big deal for me and I don't think it automatically means her entire character is ruined. There are a lot of reasons for someone to like Ash, and the way she dresses is a small part of it. I thought her leaning towards heavy armor was cool in ME1, but that's hardly the only thing I liked about her.

Casey Hudson's tweet is vague and sounded to me like an attempt to pacify angry fans rather than implications of any changes or concessions, and the fact that they're recoloring these outfits like they're a singular 'iconic look' in the same vein as the ME2 costumes is not a great sign that we're going to get some appropriate armor for Ashley.

*sigh* Not this again. DA2 get's a pass for one reason, it's fantasy. Also there is no bullets in DA2, nor is there nipple straps, high heels or cat suits.

So using DA2 as an example is not only poor it just feelsl ike a weak attempt to bash DA2, DA is not Sci-Fi, ME is Sci Fi and it better start acting like one.
