What the hell does Ashely's outfit have to do with the game's Mature rating?
Some time ago Fox News called ME a porn simulator because of the love scene in the first game. They incredibly exaggerated events and made up actions you could take regarding the sex scene. Basically they committed slander. Casey Hudson, said that they went for a more PG-13 style with ME2. Many, and rightfully so in my opinion, think it was in response to FAUX New's ****** poor discussion of the original game with their so-called expert who didn't play the game at all. In fact, none of them played it and had no idea of what was going on in the story nevermind the love scene.
Well, with the change to a PG-13 style we got constant swearing, high school jock-like behavior, women (and Jacob and Thane) in skin tight clothing or a bra strap in Jack's case. We got camera angles that, if they didn't fixate on parts of a character's anatomy, made me you look at that bit of anatomy. This is aimed namely at Miranda. The depiction of women in the game was pretty poor when you consider how they all were directed and how they acted. Probably the most natural romance progression that led to anywhere (Samara's didn't go anywhere) was reduced to a strip tease and dance. Yes I'm talking about Kelly.
Then there was complete refusal to abide by the lore established in the first game. Those same characters with skin tight clothing, and very little clothing are in hazardous areas with half-face breath masks meanwhile Shepard (both male and female) are covered from head to toe in those areas and where air is scarce to non-existent. The only place people can survive in a vacuum is in children's storys...that's if people are allowed to exist in space without having a suit on in children's stories. The only one that comes to mind is Silverhawks from the '80s.
In any case, all the above took Mass Effect, which was supposed to be a mature story, and made it into something completely opposite from what it's supposed to be. Many of the things in ME2 made me feel like I was being treated like a little boy. "Take a look at her cleavage!" "Look, she's practically topless!" "Say it with me...space boobs." "Check out [insert well-known phrase here for Miranda]."
The last thing I, as an adult male, want out of my entertainment is anything that serves to belittle me when I pay for it. Actually I should say I never want that, nevermind it being the last thing I want.
All I want is this: if you're going to start telling me story in a three-part series along the lines of "Interview with a Vampire" don't give me "Twilight".
