It's pretty sad how much of a fuss people raise over an outfit. Why do you care so much? It's ok. Really, it's ok. Nothing bad's gonna happen. The game's still gonna be a lot of fun and Ashley will have the same personality.

This outfit contradicts what she said in ME, I doubt her character has not been changed a bit. This is a combat attire, the colour proved that.

So let me get this straight. You see an outfit that one of the developers came in and said was just a concept, and based on that, you immediately think that, because of the outfit, her entire character is ruined in the game, with no actual evidence to support your thought process.

I, on the other hand, take what a developer said on official statement to believe that Ash actually will be able to equip armor in the final release. Not second-hand knowledge, not something I'm just guessing...something a developer actually said.

So. Guess > Official Statement. Right.

...where? Who are these people? Who is this 'bunch'?

Are you new?  Go back and read the earlier Ash reveal threads, there were multiple comments like that.

@MillaShepard: I'm worried about what it means for her character as well. But while I don't think her look is AS important as how it affects her personality, to me her look was important too. Because when I looked at her she looked like the one person that I felt was a kindred spirit to my FemShep. They were both practical, human soldiers. And they also happened to be women.

My point is if you think what Ashely's wearing makes her a sex symbol, than you have a very underdeveloped sense of sex. As I've stated numerous times, I don't like the outfit, but some of you act like she's dressed in DOA style-attire.

Do I like it? No. Do I think she was made that way for ****** material? Hell no. It's just a normal looking outfit.

And honestly, even if it is the only thing she can wear - which I don't believe, I do take Case and Chris at their word - it's not a big deal for me and I don't think it automatically means her entire character is ruined. There are a lot of reasons for someone to like Ash, and the way she dresses is a small part of it. I thought her leaning towards heavy armor was cool in ME1, but that's hardly the only thing I liked about her.

BioWare is presenting her this way for titillation-appeal. You might not respond to their ploy, but that doesn't excuse BioWare for "glamming up" a female Marine grunt in a way that's harmful towards women.

It's funny that you brought up the DAO angle. I, for one, actually am making the argument precisely along those lines. Ashley, Miranda, and Samara are all crammed into the sci-fi equivalent of chain-mail bikinis. They were all made that way for ****** material. Glad you brought that up too. Maybe they're not your ****** material, but they are meant to be ****** material for millions of boys and men-who-are-still-boys.

You(we) need not give Hudson and Priestley the credit they don't deserve. Their track record with ME2 and these forums in general regarding female visibility has always been cavalier and chauvinist.

Wow. I have to say that, except for Kaidan, the redesign and armor design for these characters is atrocious.

More boobsuits and tighter armor for the women? Seriously? Ashley is a soldier -- she could wear heavy armor. It makes no sense to me at all that Kaidan, the  biotic, has more plates, sharp edges, covering, and armor than the soldier. Ugh.

And speaking of Ashley, her super feminized makeover still irritates me. It's too Miranda-esque. Her spartan and soldier style, it's difficult for me to see her choose to keep her hair down for combat scenarios.

Liara's red latex-y rubber fetish suit... no.

Ashley is wearing a light armor that gives her greater mobility and allows her to use whatever advantage she has (including sex appeal) to get her way.

She's not a soldier anymore but an agent of the Council.

BUT, I do have an issue with Bioware basically kicking us in the balls after promising the option of good 'ol alternate armor for Ash.

Come on Bioware... You can dress her up any way you want but give us MORE options. >.<

Don't tell me that I only have two options like in ME2.

I've never understood how sex appeal matters much when your fighting zombies,  aliens,  and robot cthulus.

It matters when you got potentially new paying customers as well as old ones.

Ashley looks fine- the armor is light, but it's a long top, not a skirt from what I can tell. And I don't THINK those are high-heels... it's possible, but it doesn't look like it to me. Vega looks uglier than a pit bull on a bad day. Samara-y costume doesn't do it for me, but it's nice to have options, yes? Kaidan's armor looks great.

Did you even play ME1?

Yes. What does that have to do with anything?

Because you're acting like you're either not paying attention or you haven't played the first game. Female characters in the first game, with a couple of notable exceptions, were hardly sexualized at all. Female Shepard, Ashley, Tali, and Liara all wore realistic armor that was consistent with what their male counterparts were wearing.

In the second game, everything changed. Shepard's armor was somewhat consistent between genders, but even this emphasized the gender differences a lot more than in the first game. But at least Shepard was able to WEAR armor. Miranda, Samara and Jack were more exposed than any character from the first game, and Jacob too. It was obvious that "cool factor" trumped "realism" when it came to ME2's character designs. If these folks hung out on the ship in these outfits and wore armor into battle, it wouldn't have been such a collective facepalm. But nooooooo. Garrus, Grunt and Thane at least got helmets, and naturally it's a non-issue for Tali, so it definitely comes off as rather gender-biased.

Now that we're seeing hints and clues for the third game, are we getting reassurances that they're returning to a semblance of sanity and gender parity? NO. We're seeing the opposite of that with pictures like this. We're seeing every bit as much of a preference for "cool factor" over "realism". Kaidan gets a butch makeover, Ashley is turned out in flimsy clothing, James Vega looks like he escaped from another game altogether, and Liara is shown wearing a silly retread of Samara's costume. How is any of that supposed to be encouraging, tweet or no tweet?

Eh, I don't play maleshep so I never got to see Ashley's ~*saucy*~ side, but I think it depends on how she goes about it. IIRC (from what I've read/watched on the AshShep romance) she can be a little, well, saucy, she just doesn't stick her breasts in your face while doing so ('That's a waste of a perfectly fine ass... sir"). So if it's some nudge nudge double entendre, I wouldn't blink. If it's 'my bosom, let me show you it' constantly, I think that's more a matter of concern.

Ash never used her body to get her way or ocmplete a mission, she was fl;irty yes but she never used her body like say Miri to get what she needs. For Ash to do that, even once would kill the game fast for me.

You don't pull crap like this at the last entry when in the ME2 she was wearing armour and her normal self only a couple of months before ME3

We're talking about two different things...

The game is saturated with cheese and yet the beef remains firmly in the can...  tis sad really.  If explotation is going to be used everything should be exploited.

It's not titallating. Hell, female business suits are more revealing.

You know what, I'm done arguing. But I'll say this - if you guys feel that strongly in your CRUSADE AGAINST CHAUVINISM, stop whining on a Bioware forum, make a sign, and go join a march somewhere, instead of spouting a bunch of cliches you heard on TV.

You know, I hated James appearance at first because he seemed a little to bulky, but as I think about it, I'm okay with that. Literally every other human male in the game has the exact same build. Lean, muscular but not overly, medium build. Now here's Vega, a human built like a Krogan. It's different. I like it. Nothing glamorous or elegant, just a soldier.

As for Ashley, eh, whatever. So long as she can pull a trigger and kill people, I'll be fine. I liked Kaiden more, anyway. In fact, I dislike his armor a bit more than Ashley's. But that boils down to the fact that I hate bulk and prefer apparent maneuverability.

And Liara, looks so much better than Samara...

The only design that looks alright is Kaiden's. The rest is trash. Their art dept knows better, even for alternative costumes.

Don't want James 'jug head' Vega unless I can feed him to Wrex.
Don't want Ashley, space hooker extraordinaire
Don't want Liara trying her hardest to look like Samara.
