Personally I really like all of them, yeh even Ashley's.. it's a cool design

Although am not keen at all on Vega, even putting the insanely bulky armour aside his face looks a bit messed up

I kinda like the fact that he's sort of an ugly dude. The hair looks hilarious, though. I'd imagine he also looks less stupid in context - Vega and Williams both have a severe case of derpface going on in this picture.

I thought Vega was sporting a marine crewcut, which makes sense being that he's a wet behind the ears marine.

Ashe is now going to battle with a mini dress, stockings and suspenders. Seriously this is bad enough for me to go back and recton out Ashe from my ME run.

Not that keen on Liaras but at least it looks like armour.

I don't give a flying frak about realism.  It would be nice however if characters who say they really prefer heavy armor to continue to wear heavy armor.  And if they stop, it wouldn't be for such obviously sexualized pandering reasons.

Although to be honest it's realistically going to be very hard for me to take James Vega seriously with that hair.

Not to detract from the 'bloody stupid outfit' discussion, but can anybody make out the logos on the humans? Ashley's pretty clearly got a bird on her lapel, but the others are harder to make out. Are they all animal motifs? Kaidan=some kind of bulky predator head thing? Vega=rabbit mounting anti-armor turret? I'm sure you all can come up with better.

What we "want" is a female character who has previously been established as a very practical person to be treated as such, and to not be over-sexualized.

I hate these...Ash and Liara the most. Kaidan looks great though he's dead in my game. And the other armor is too bulky looking, why? And is that really vega?? Come on Bioware just give us the brit, this guy looks stupid with that hair and that dumbfounded look.

Exactly. The problem is exacerbated when you realize she's the only female squadmate who has actually worn real armor (aside from Liara's light armor in ME1). Even the female alien squadmates have shapely figures in skintight suits, and almost all your female squaddies had their boobs/cleavage showing and wore heels. To be fair, BioWare said 'screw it' to practical armor in ME2 regardless of gender, but the males were still wearing more practical outfits (relatively).

Now they put the male biotic in full armor, next to the female soldier in a latex miniskirt and heels next to the male soldier (?) in super heavy armor... even if  it is explained away, it does send a bad message

Although for me it extends further than the costume design. The whole "dating sim... IN SPAAACEEE" element gets under my skin. There are games with good romances, but those games rarely let you choose your love interest from a bunch of different characters. This is because those types of romances are hard to integrate into the plot - they have to either be completely generic and modular and/or something that has no bearing on anything else in the game. Compare Sands of Time to any given romance in ME2, for instance.

Also, it's kind of creepy that they seem to be designing the LIs to appeal to the player (both in terms of writing and in terms of visual design), not as characters that will play off Shep in interesting ways.

Liara's colour scheme is already giving me migraine. Add strangely wide chest to this mix (dark line in centre doesn't help) and tiara... Oh, and she also has another lipstick compared to screenie with powers.
Vega... can't say anything because I laugh to tears looking at this.
Ashley stole Tali's knee pads. And presence of AR tells me this isn't a casual outfit.
Kaidan... well, at least one person I fully intended to pick for squad have very nice looking armour. Heavy armour is untypical for Sentinels (hello, Miranda, what are you going to wear? Especially considering Ashley's new look), though, but I don't complain :-P

Yeah that too. Support Bulky Sentinels!  Hope Miranda get the same treatment, seems unlikely though.
