My problems with Vega's face are his mouth and nose. Make them smaller (like Aris Ravenstar amazingly did) and he looks much, much better.

The silly hair should go, too, but I can live with it.

After looking at Vega a little more closely... does anyone else think he looks like Ser Jory in SPACE!

Capcom's art design is second to none. Sian is right.

BioWare needs to find out who created the digital models for Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar—and kidnap them.

Now for a female in combat (In Sheva's case fighting Zombies, and not nearly as far into the future as ME takes place) her outfit design is something I can get behind.  (not the alt outfits oh no no no...) Now Ash in something more futuristic that does what Sheva's outfit did for her, I could more than live with...

I can't believe we have to argue about this in the first place... *shakes head*  Having to beg for practical armor for Ashley in ME3 is just.... RIDICULOUS!!

He just looks totally out of place to me.  My Shep is going to be constantly wondering what he's doing on the Normandy in the first place.

Agreed.  I wish he was just a replacement for someone if one of your crewmates died.  I haven't been following ME news lately so if I never have to deal with him, that would be great.  I like my Gears of War in my Gears of War...not ME.

lol. Miranda, Samara, and Ashley's catsuits are right up Capcom's alley.

If Bioware is emulating them then we're in serious trouble.

Capcom is an incredibly cheap company.

I'm not talking about aesthetics, but the priority at which they hold art design. They take it very seriously in every game. It shows.

That's funny that people would photoshop Chris Redfield onto Vega, since I mentioned earlier he looks like just the kind of guy to punch boulders like that.

No they don't. Capcom is all about sex appeal exploitation. That's all they care about. Resident Evil games are the best example.

I feel like I fail at feminism... I find nothing particularly wrong with the outfit.

I just think the outfit is wrong for Ashley...

That is what's wrong with it. The issue comes in because of the dichotomy between the outfit and the character, as well as the contrast between what she is wearing and what her male counterparts are wearing.

While I agree with you for the most part, I don't think what she is wearing is acceptable combat attire for anyone. Miranda's "uniform" was the reason I barely ever let her off of the ship until her DLC armor came out.

Indeed.

It looks fine to wear to a trial

Or while working a desk

Or onboard the Normandy

But under combat conditions, it definitely doesn't look like armor.  It look like... clothes.

Why does the tomboy rough and tumble marine wear clothing into combat when Kaidan, and James, two other Alliance marines wear definitive armor?

I don't care that Vega's not supermodel attractive or w/e... Hell, he might even become friends with my Shep at some point... (still contemplating the airlock option, cos I can that's why) doesn't mean I can't make fun of him a little for being a complete and total derp face.

Nobody ****** Milla off, she's good with a shotgun.

James Vega isn't taking nearly enough steroids to compare to Chris Redfield.

You take Chris Redfield's head and put it on his actual body and his head looks like a tiny little orange on top of a gorilla.

It actually looks normal on Vega's body because Vega has large but normal proportions.

True, but for someone like Miranda who puts more emphasis on her physical attractiveness and has shown no preference for heavy armor in previous conversations (and has no background in the military or other positions which require regulations and dress codes), one could argue that it's a matter of personal taste. It doesn't mean I think she's smart for going out fighting in a catsuit and high heels, but I could see in-character reasons for the choice. I didn't like Miranda's outfit, but it was a minor annoyance in comparison to what's happened to Ashley.

I call it the way I see it. And it does come off as whining to me.

Any complaint can be given the whine label.  It's incredibly easy to do if you're not going to look at the merits of the complaint.  And why would anyone do so if they already disagree with the complaint?

It's a smokescreen tactic to get others to devalue the argument or concern put forth.  Nothing more and the proof is there by admitting that shrieking sounds better than complaining.

No, it is whining when you complain about a concept of the outfit which made Hudson promise for an armour in the first place.

These forums have been going from bad to worse during the past week.

Your constant mention of it being a concept doesn't make it so as it is a re-color of what we were shown in E3.  Concept refers to an idea and this is not an idea anymore.  Jack's drawings before her look in ME2 was finalized are concepts.  They were not set in stone prior to finalization.  The image in the OP was sent to retailers by Priestly's own admission.  The tweet by Hudson was made last month.  It has no bearing on what is in front of us now considering the aforementioned response by Priestly.  While it may change doesn't erase the fact that Bioware's already gone to lengths in some way to publicize their intentions on character looks.

So, no, it is not whining as you and others want it to be.  It is a complaint.  One that may very likely be ignored seeing, again, as this is a re-color of what we were shown in E3.

Again, you're addressing their aesthetic/stylistic persuasion and not the quality of their artists.

I won't argue that Chris Redfield's body is a bit out of control, but they did a wonderful job on his face. And Sheva is amazing from head to toe, one of the most beautiful video game women ever. And Sheva's default costume, while sexy, is practical for what she's doing and where she's doing it, at least to some extent. She's in a hot climate, and she's trying to blend with the locals, at first anyway. Her alternate outfits are strictly gonzo, of course, but so are Chris'.

Agreed.  Bioware produces some decent looking characters, but it's hard to compete with Chris and Sheva, as campy as RE5 is.

In Vega's case it looks like he'd be talking about the thrashball career that didn't pan out. :P

I don't care how bad some of Capcom's game may be, but I've never seen a bad looking game from that company, be it Lost Planet, Devil May Cry, or Street fighter. They have some of the best art and character design in the business.

I honestly don't think Vega looks bad at all. I mean, it doesn't look like he's one window lick away from colouring books for christmas. He simply looks very "Semper F&#@!ng Fi !"

The aesthetics of her outfit is directly related to her stereotyped role. Hello. You address one thing that is like 10% of the actual issue of this thread and totally ignore what's actually goign on. Good night.

We don't even know what her role is at this point. As far as we know she's still a soldier. I had a theory that she might be an infiltrator since becoming Spectre but that's just speculation.

With that theory in mind here's a scenario:

Soldier Ashley wearing plate >>>> Gets Spectre training >>>> Becomes an infiltrator
Sentinel Kaidan wearing light >>>> Gets Spectre training >>>> Becomes a front line soldier

Do you see the problem? It just smacks of gender disparity and if it isn't I'm really hoping for a decent explanation, unless we get evidence that these armors really don't matter and we can put them in anything we want.
