I have no problem with armor that looks sexy. I really like Femshep's ME2 armor, that's heavy, but still shows off her features as a woman. I like that in my entertainment, where a bit of style is mixed it over realism. She looks like a action heroine, or a real badass, and not a random generic soldier. When it gets to the point of her looking like a stripper, I complain. Same with Jack being shirtless. But I'm not against a bit of style over realism. I like things being more artistic.

And in that concept above, she just looks like a generic soldier, with a model's head on it.

And in her alt outfit, she just looks like a generic "hot female in tight suit" with a model's head on it.

FemSheps armor is way too thin to offer any substantial protection, although considering what someone else said in previous posts it has been said that technology has progressed enough so they dont need heavy plating etc...

Anyone that thinks the armor is in the game for any reason other than to look cool is fooling no one but themselves. Even the established lore of the game does very little to support any serious need for armor.

Well a case for armour could be made in ME1 but they've already thrown that out of the window with Me2 and indeed I don't have anything per se against impractical combat outfits in computer games, it's just that at the very least I want the player character to be able to indulge in them too.

Ideally we should just have the full scale of options with at least three combat outfits for Shepard (male and female) ranging from catsuit-esque light armour to full battle tank mode heavy. Unfortunately it looks like shepard is only going to get heavy-ish armour to wear in this game too even when that isn't how I would want to play the character.

Customizable looks contrasts with artistic stylization. Pros and cons for both.

I just hate seeing people talk about protection and realism and front-line and defense when none of it has anything at all to do with what any of the characters wear. Both in art design choices and largely in what the rules of the ME game world state.

may i add that bioware has confirmed that armour cusomization is coming back so i'd assume this is just ashley default armour but can be changed and customized to ur hearts content... also in the way of shepard, in the fall of earth gameplay sequence he is running around in very light "armour" now this could be just for that moment in game but it could maybe be a lasting option for armour.. idk... simply speculation

You can add bondage boots to increase her speed,  a nice little dog collar for enhanced shields, and a corset for increased hit points.  : )

They're stubborn holdovers from Me1 when like I said a flimsy case could at least be made for needing armour/ sealed envirosuits.

And I know the marketing department of EA is fond of portraying default Shepard as John, shepard, straight badass full renegade douchebag but I don't play the character that way never have and never will. Besides we've can customize almost everything else about the character already so why not armour, why shoulds my Adepts, Engineers and Sentinels be required to dress like tanks when it's been firmly established that within the Mass Effect universe dressing like a tank does exactly zero to improve combat effectiveness.
And it isn't just the women Jacob and Thane do it too and are no less effective in combat for it.

Ya know... I'm not 100% fond of the new armor... but I do want the option to put Ash in something more along the lines of what she had in ME1... Doesn't have to be her Phoenix armor, (thought that would be awesome IMO) just.. REAL armor. The second we get back to the Normandy I'll see to it that she wears this new outfit, casually.. Makes more sense than standing around in armor all the time which we unfortunately had no option to change for our squaddies in ME2... Bring back those options..

Oh... and I still want a bun toggle for Ash. This can be arranged as well yes?

Not to mention that in ME1 her armour was even thinner if you wore light armour.

In ME2 we're forced to wear heavy regardless of class.  So if anything, for a lot of players, FemSheps armour in ME2 is too clunky and isn't thin enough.

I still say that a fully implemented Shep style N7 system for the team mates should be the way forward.

They've known how people have felt about the crap system they used for ME2 compaired to that of ME1 and to not have done anything to rectify it by now would be pure lazyness on Biowares part.

No, now the controversy will be whether or not they did this only in response to the negative response or if it was what they intended to do all along.
:P

Either way, I still say the armor doesn't actually mind at all. It's pure "looks cool" factor.
