Andii McAfee- Emily Wong                                                        Posted Image

I checked the search engine and there wasn't a Fan Thread for Ms. Wong in the Mass Effect 3 Section : So here it is ^_^

"Welcome to Citadel News Network: I'm Emily Wong..." B)

" Mass Effect and The Media "

A little while ago I was reading the Cerberus Daily News Archive at : Mass Effect Wiki... It was such a good read that I read every entry from January 2010 - September 2010. And I plan on picking up where I left off... Even during my playthroughs of Mass Effect 2, I found myself listening and watching every News Report I could find. I find them fascinating and the level of suspense of disbelief that BioWare has given those who are fans of the Mass Effect Universe, ( from adding the Cerberus Daily News ) is second to none !! :wizard: Never have I felt so immersed and involved  in a story of fiction.I recieve Newsletters from The New York Daily News, New York Times and other places. But I found the reports from this hypothetical future inter galactic community to be far more interesting and relatable ( as strange as that may sound ) than Earthian Modern Day News. Now I have an idea of what you may be thinking right now : " Well that's not hard to understand, Mass Effcet is escapism par excellence."

Here's the thing, it doesn't strike me so much as escapism ; more like recieving broadcast from a parallel universe or the future... If we as a species ever become a "space faring civilization" and if we discover that "We are not alone".What the brillant writers at BioWare postulate now ( with the Galactic New Network ) will be reality then..For we of course, Live in an age where Science Fiction becomes Science Fact with alarming frequency :o

So where does Emily Wong fit in to any of this ? What role could she or should she play in Mass Effect 3 ?

A fellow by the username of StarMarine did a great job of Championing Shiala, having a major role in the plot of Mass Effect 3  social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/325/index/7625412/5#7692328

I shall attempt to do the same for Emily Wong here. In the world that we live in now, during war campaigns the Media can be the tip of the spear.I don't recall his name but a United Staes of America General gloated once about how this was the case a couple of years ago... One of the Reapers greatest strengths is akin to what is commonly said of Satan : " The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." And from what we learned from Vigil on Illos, when the Reapers appeared they did all within their power to keep people in the dark about all the death and destruction that they were inflicting upon inhabited world after world.
A Press Black -Out of Biblical Proportions, if you will... :police: For those like myself who want to interact with Ms.Wong to an even greater extent than in ME1, I see many ways for this to occur in ME3.There is a very convincing way that BioWare can involve her in Shepard's Crusade... And have her as a 'Love Interest' as well. After interviewing Shepard, Emily could almost just tell him in a casual manner that she is going to start investigating who in positions of power may be indoctrinated or that she will be reporting from the frontlines of the War with the Reapers. The conversation wheel pops up and you can choose to show genuine concern for her safety and she smiles back at you and says something about how much she appreciates your concern and goes on to speak a bit about how dangerous a profession journalism can be but that she is determined to do her part.
Shepard responds : "If you get in trouble, you know how to get in contact with me. " ;)
Emily : And if I'm not in trouble ? she says with a flirtacious smile. The conversation wheel gives you the option of backtracking or reciprocating... They keep in contact by having a correspondence, but fate will eventually bring them together like Superman & Lois Lane. Someone in another thread mentioned that Emily Wong should join the crew of the Normandy SR 2 as an embedded journalist.

Embedded journalism
refers to news reporters being attached to military units involved in armed conflicts.
While the term could be applied to many historical interactions between
journalists and military personnel, it first came to be used in the media coverage of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The United States military responded to pressure from the country's news media who were disappointed by the level of access granted during the 1991 Gulf War and in the 2001 U.S. invasion of Afghanistan.

That's a great idea.As Shepard Commander you can decide how much access she shall have and how close to danger she will be allowed to get.But knowing Emily, she will do as she please... :P  data:image/jpg;base64,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

You are a reporter : Investigate possible indoctrination on the Citadel and get out of some dicey situations

Edit: Here's a link to my Poll. Emily Wong's role in Mass Effect 3 The more of us that vote. The more likely that BioWare may pay attention. ^_^

It would be nice to see her have a bigger role in ME3. Maybe she could send reports directly to Shepard in 3. She owes him *big* time for the Fist/Traffic Control stories and would have plenty of resources/contacts since she moved up to Citadel News Network. She also knows what Shepard's capable of doing against Reapers.

I'd like her to do an interview to balance out that crazy Khalisah Al-Jilani woman. For all those talks of "exclusive" interviews, that Al-Jilani viper is the one that keeps popping up.  <_<

I'd like to see her again. I wouldn't mind working with her. She was cool.

Maybe Wong should be the one punching Al-Jilani this time. :P

You're thinking of Khalisah bin Sinan al-Jilani.

I kind of want to see her at the end of the game if the galaxy is saved. You know like a celebrity interview... Even though Ms. Wong delves into serious topics, but after Shepard saves the galaxy... s/he is the news. After all, my Shepard did promise her that interview after fist (it was a paragon option that ended up being more credits, but come on I want that interview!)

It would be a nice ending where Shepard gets to tell his/her future plan after kicking Reaper butt. Retirement? Stay in the Alliance? Or just be a Spectre... that sort of thing.

Or maybe you can choose al-Jilani, punch her face, and walk away. I would like that ending! ^^

I liked the Galactic News terminals in 2 a whole lot when I first played the game. They added more depth to the world and showed in some instances how your decisions had shaped the galaxy. I hope they expand on the news feeds a bit in 3. Whether they use Ms. Wong or not would be up to them but I would love to be able to turn on a news channel and watch reports and Wong would be the easiest person to interject into that role.

off topic, but did anyone else find it a little weird that the game didn't account for whether you won al jiliani to your stance in ME1 or not? no matter what you did in that first interview it plays out the same.

^I think she says you presented your case very well on camera. Well in my ME1 saves I invested in paragon points to charm myself out of her snide insinuations. *shrug* That's my playthrough anyway.

she didn't with me but it may have been a glitch. I renegaded my whole way through the first interview and she loved me, but when I imported that character my shep acted like she'd portrayed him as an idiot on camera. really weird.

edit: as in refusing to shake her hand, saying he didnt remember her, the whole bit.

In the Lair of the Shadow Broker, we see Emily Wong featured on the vid screen. Now we know that the Shadow Broker doesn't waste time or resources observing "nobody's" so it may be safe to assume that Ms.Wong has some signifigance.

Or perhaps the Yahg Shadow Broker just fancied her and liked to watch her dance in his free time. :P  He even has footage of the other well known female reporter: Khalisah bint Sinan Al-Jilani.

There are a couple of things that I want above all else in Mass Effect 3. And I wonder sometimes; how much will I be able to enjoy the game if what I'm hoping for is not in it...

Emily Wong on board the Normandy as an embedded journalist and potential love interest is one of those things.

Shiala as a squadmate and love interest is another.

Then there's my "The Cycle is not Broken" Ending that I speak of in my thread, "A sobering thought about Mass Effect 3: The only true side quest in the game is..."
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/7811436/1#7811436

Shepard's Revelation... social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/7876911/1#7876911 Is all about disillusionment and vengence or forgivness.

And finally, Commander Shepard's Resolution with his crew mates from Mass Effect 1.

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/7811135#7811135 Is a "Where do we go from here" moment.

These are more to me than just some idle 'fan-boys' wish. They are moments in the overall story of Mass Effect 3, that could help make it a game and story that will never be forgotten.Moments full of drama and tension.Pathos and Melacholy.Crossroads and Points of No Return...

You don't even see Wong in ME2, just her news casts on the Citadel.  You are thinking of al-Jilani and I can't wait to punch that annoying reporter one more time and yes, I want an achievement for it too.

I support Wong getting exclusive coverage in ME3, making her a civilian party member. ^_^

I want to invite her aboard the Normandy and let her tag along to capture my heroism. I trust she'd do a good job.
