I had an discussion with couple of people about bringing new characters( James Vega) so late in trilogy is not good idea and we should replace it with people we already met in previous 2 games.

Now, we do have to get new squadmates since only Liara and either Ashley or Kadian are 100% in ME3.
Everyone else can die.

Now, tell me who can replace dead squadmates.
But here's a few rules:
  • That character must be alive in every playthrough, so no Kirrahe or Kal'Reegar.
  • That character must be lower then Shepard, so no Aria( ruler of Omega) or Anderson( Admiral), it wouldn't make sense if this people follow Shepard's orders like usual soldiers
  • That character must be skilled for combat, so no Lorik Qui'in or Kolyat.
I'm pretty sure list of already existing characters to replace dead squadmates is gonna be very low.

No replacements. Dead is dead, your loss.

^Playing with only 2-3 squadmates as squadmates can be boring.

As I said, your own loss. Start a new playthrough with the default save, if you want. I'm sure there are more people alive in it.

^Eh, I have 12 Shep's.

Only punishment I don't want in my worst import for ME3 is to get bored by using only 2-3 squadmates..

hm...maybe:
Feron could replace Thane.
Conrad for Jacob :P
Aethyta for Samara/Morinth
Kahlee Sanders for Miranda
Shiala for Jack

I might be able to come up with more if I think about it ^^

Someones needs to replace Shadow Broker so doubt it will be Feron. Also Thane probably won't be a squadmate.
Conrad can die and is dead for every PS3 player and can't fight. I know you were joking about that one.
Aethyta is unknown is she capable for frontline battle.
Kahlee Sanders is 16-18 and we don't know what will happen to her in next book.
Shiala can die.

I dont have an issue with it. I like meeting new people. Why should we be restricted to the same people?

I dont want to have the same old acquaintances over and over again. As much as I liked some of the squad mates in ME2 I always felt a few of them were passing through. Yeah some Im glad are back but I always do like meeting new team mates. Its become part of the experience.

^Well that too.

Though I really want to know who can replace anyone but new characters.

Kahlee Sanders is around Anderson's age.

^ This seems good...Except for Shiala since she said her powers were unstable...Unless that means "better than before" in which case never mind this comment. :D And lol @ Conrad, I guess anyone could replace Jacob though. ;)

Conrad can die? How?
Aethyta was an Asari Commando...I'd say she's qualified
Sanders is in her 40s, afaik.

Oups, I was thinking of other novel character.

OK, she can be replace, but she's from novels not previous 2 games. So she will be new to most people.

If you tell Conrad to get lost when you meet him a news report will later mention that he died in a fight.

*Edit. Here you go:  Awesome way to go

So kind of on the same lines as Merrill going from bit part in DA:O to companion in DA2? Most of the characters that pop to my mind could be dead.

I liked Detective Anaya, figure she must be able to fight.

Either in bar fight in ME1 or in some brutal accident in ME2.

Why would you recruit a random cop from Illum?

Garrus at least wanted to stop Saren before you even met him and received Spectre training.

Yeah, I doubt he would go and fight alongside with Shepard like his/hers grunt.

True, but he's one of the few Krogans I think could "handle it". ^^

I don't really think she's likely to become a squad mate since we have Liara for an asari squaddie but I liked Detective Anaya and I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to come up with a reason for her joining Shepard. I was going to suggest Elnora and she probably has even less reason to join Shepard, but I liked how crafty she was, she can be killed so that wouldn't work.

No Kirrahe or Kal'Reegar? *leaves thread*

Lol.

But I'd love to see Aethyta on the team. She's a matriarch, after all, and her personality is so marvellous that she could be a replacement for either an asari or krogan team member! Image IPB

I've never understood the fandom of Kal'Reegar. Its just because his VA is Jane?
