any one else disappointed at the squad mates that have been declared so far??? I'm not sure why but i feel like after getting this awesome team in ME2 full of crazy bad ass characters and really cool storys we are kind of getting a big middle finger since there will only be 2 of the 12 that are actually permanent characters.  I mean i get the idea of having a smaller team with more indepth relationships but why these 6???

Liara- i honestly had enough of her in the LotSB not sure why but she just didnt really tickle my fancy. and i was glad when it was over hoping she would stay in that lair and not come out unless i needed information... unfortunetly not

VS- again idk why they were brought back, when they stormed off horizon i was glad to see it, their reactions were kind of insulting to my shep and it was like a good ridance feeling but now that we are back in alliance space they want to be all buddy buddy again? ya no thank you

Garrus/Tali- both glad to see, at least we get a couple of decent characters

Vega- no comment as of yet hopefully he turns out to be a cool guy... i would still rather get to pick somone from an old squad tho

all in all i will say that i wish we could pick our own team from all 15 or whatever number there are from both past games... unfortunetly that would be insanely difficult for bioware making every possible outcome and selction options available so that is likely out... still would be awesome tho

any who..... thoughts???

Calm down already. We're 8 months away from release and you're talking as if everything that's in ME3 has been confirmed already. Have some patience and wait for new announcements. I'm 100% sure there will be more characters from ME2 returning as squad members so just wait for that announcement.

About the characters: Always liked Liara, Tali and Garrus so I'm glad they're back. My opinion of the VS went down the drain on Horizon, they better not talk back at Shepard again in ME3. Vega... no opinion yet since we know almost nothing about him.

From what I've looked at it seems squad members will function like Liara did in LotSB. You will gain a new party member for certain missions (i.e. like Liara) but will keep certain ones permanently, which is Vega, Liara, Garrus, Tali and Ashley/Kaiden. I think this is a good idea because this way you get to have all or most companions from the previous two games involved in some way without having a ridiculous amount like ME2 and keeping them in good detail to the story.

If I had been given the choice of any two characters to return in ME3 I'd have chose Liara and Garrus so I'm very pleased they will be returning. I quite like Tali and Ashley although they sometimes say things that irk me. I'm indifferent to Kaidan but I've Virmired him more often than Ashley anyway. As for Vega we'll see. Out of the characters that have yet to be confirmed I would most like Miranda to return.

No, I'm fine with the lineup so far. I'm not wild on Garrus but as long as he isn't too busy calibrating to develop as a character then its fine.

Why are you contradicting yourself?? You say you hate the squad revealed so far, which is the basis of the ORIGINAL squad, and then you say you want to pick from the old squad? WTF

No matter, you will buy this game and love it.

Never said the word "hate" just dissapointed in the selection of "permanent" members

and i said that all characters should be available so everyone can have their pick of favorites... its not going to happen would of just been cool.

just more flexability on the permanent squad would have been nice with so many previous squad members out there

First of all you quoted yourself there.

Second, no offence but you seem like a troll to me. No fan with reasonable knowledge of the series would suggest the things you're suggesting.

Anyways, rant on.

ya i know my comp is having problems at the moment...

second, how is suggesting more variety in your permanent squad a trolling statement? i'm not the only one to be suggesting it. and it would make sense to be able to pick your 5 or 6 squad mates from all the previous ones since everyone could make the team they wanted, however it would just be too much work to make the game.

i apologize for using common sense

I'm just glad we're going to have so many humans. Other than asari, I find aliens to be tiresome and cliché.

Lolwut? Aliens are way more intresting then Human characters. Humans are to generic and boring. The Aliens in Mass Effect are really intresting and always have unique backstorys. That's my opinion though.

Having Liara, VS, Tali & Garrus back as your perm squaddies is great ... I feel like my Shepard is coming back full circle. I loved ME1 and although I get that Wrex is busy elsewhere I want my old team to help end the story. Having the other characters come in and out is fine with me ... having ME2 characters as perm and the ME1 characters floating in & out would have seem wrong to the trilogy feel.

But I understand that everyone has their favorites .. that some did not even play ME1.

Disappointed? Hell NO! I can't wait to play ME3 with all the characters, whether full time squaddies or just passing through. I also can't wait to see Shiala, Conrad, etc.

Come on March 2012!!!!!!     Image IPB

No. IF you were using common sense you would know something like that is 1- not plausible 2- not practical and 3-not economical

So let me get this straight, you want the devs to design a whole game, and being able to work a whole playthrough with literally 100 squad combinations, then record sound for EVERY single one of them, then animate them all, basically its like making 10 games packed in one game. Think much? Do you know how much that game would cost for us to buy? Not to mention the insane amount of money and TIME needed to make that?

No you are not using common sense or not thinking rationally for that matter.

are you not reading his whole post, all the guy is sayin that he would like that as an option then he says "however it would just be too much work to make the game" he knows its not practical but its something that would be cool, relax dude dnt be so quick to judge.

I have to agree that I was a bit concerned about the confirmed permanent members being just from the original crew after meeting all those new characters in ME2. They've already mentioned that certain crew members will be mission specific, I'm just hoping that means post those missions they join up, so the crew is built back up gradually like in ME2. That way Bioware doesn't have to write every character in for the whole game, but everyone's itch gets scratched. They wouldn't have to do this for each former crew member, because someone like Wrex should lead his people whereas Grunt can join up with Shepard more easily.

That's what I'm hoping for. Something along the lines of ME2 gradualism but instead of a new crew you're getting the gang back together.

i understand that hence why i said right in my post that it wont happen... my point was that it would be a cool idea and would make sense if it happened but there was no way it could happen... Read much?
