Has Bioware confirmed that all of the Me2 characters will be temp at best? I don't know if they'd do that. If Me2 could support twice as many characters as Me1 then I don't see why they'd be tempted to give you so few options. The last scene SPOILER ALERT from Me2, with crew who survived, on the Normandy seems to suggest that they're going to be hanging around for a bit at least. I can see Bioware shifting in the 5 or 6 most popular characters from Me2 into permanent status and maybe making temp or cameo appearances out of Zaeed, Samara, or Kasumi. I suppose time will tell.
disappointed...

No they haven't confirmed anything other than at first saying Liara,Vs,Vega were permanent squadmembers, kinda confirming at first that so were Tali and Garrus although this has since changed to playable to some extent.
They've mentioned nothing in regard to me2 specific squadmembers other than all will return if they are alive in your playthrough but we won't tell you what type of role they have because it spoils the story.
Which is A. BS, (seriously knowing a character is a full squadmate spoils the story how), And B. precisely the same tack they used in regards to me1 crewmembers returns in me2.
That's the reason why i and others question this issue so often, Bioware have a habit of deny deny deny, claim we can't say just yet only for the reveal to be the worst case scenario anyone imagined and the excuses to flow from then.
We only have how they handled characters from 1 to 2 to go on and there they relegated any who could die into minor roles so past experience suggests that may be what they will go for again. It seems like that's how its going and it would take so very little from bioware to prove otherwise.
A simple reveal of any of the me2 specific characters would at least show that maybe this isn't true and that some could play a full squadmate role by not revealing and spouting on about spoiling the story or squadmates work different this time round it just makes it seem like they're preparing the groundwork for reduced roles.
Seriously with everything that's been revealed thus far, Cerberus as bad guys trying to kill Shepard (albeit for a reason we don't know yet) plus other info thats been released, for bioware to say we can't reveal anything about any me2 specific character being on your squad permanently just reeks of exactly how they responded to questions from Ash/Kaiden/Wrex fans of me1 and we saw how that turned out.
This is why people like me put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4 and trust me i really hope my math is wrong, but until bioware actually address these concerns or release the info we're all in the dark and its not a nice place to be.

Alright well I can understand now why you'd have concerns about the future of Me2 characters. I hope we'll get to use them as much as possible in 3 but we'll have to wait and see. I just don't discount that an approach that look iffy on paper may still be pulled off in an amazing way with the right writing behind it.
As for Cerberus hunting Shepard, well we know that he'll be on Earth for a trial and I wouldn't put it past TIM to take the chance to "liquidate his asset," rather than risk Shepard blowing the whistle on Cerebus. TIM is clearly nutty enough to think he can come out on top of the Reapers and everyone else so we'll have to see how that plays out.

I'm glad you understand where i'm coming from on this subject and i agree with the right writing anything is possible. There could very well be a way around the squadmate issue i haven't figured out yet, since we don't know exactly how the story will play out we can't prejudge (even though in some ways i am).
They have an out with a lot of characters, Mordin, Thane etc. and with others perhaps it'll be an either/or scenario where depending on how you play/played it depends on their role or depending on who you pick (you can have Tali but this means no Legion etc). Maybe they'll just go the DA:O route where we get a character for a period of time at the beginning, they leave for whatever reason and come back at the end (it could apply to all characters), we just don't know enough yet, which is of course frustrating.
We both seem to share the same hope though that we'll get to use characters as much as possible and those we don't get to use it'll at least make sense why this is the case and not be because of some stupid created reason that doesn't.
As for the Cerberus thing, i hope they do try to take Shepard out that early, although looking at the few trailers released so far, the one with Mordin esp. it kinda seemed like that was the first time they'd encountered Cerberus trying to kill them (it could of course been the first time Liara but not Shepard had encountered it).
