Mass Effect 3 Engineer going to feel more like, well, an engineer?

Just give us tech armor and all will be right with the world. My gorram drone had to do most of the fighting for me on the later DLCs (or above Veteran at any time) and AI Hacking rarely had use--even less once Tali and Legion stepped in.

If I can keep the drone and get turrets and mines (especially since it looks like enemies are more aggressive and flank more), I'd be pretty happy.

Yes. This. It'd be nice if every class consisted of entirely unique abilities. Sure, it's harder to balance, but the possibilities could be so much fun.

I agree completely.  I definately want to keep the drone, but I too would like to see more "engineerish" powers exclusive to the class such as the ones above.  And I do hope each class is made of entirely unique abilities so that none of them cross over among the different classes, which is what I think you are alluding to above.

Yep, that's exactly what I mean. I'd like if every single power in every single class were unique.

I'm okay with some mechanics bleed, like Warp vs. Reave, which were identical in function (strip armor and barriers) but unique in utility (Warp was a projectile shot that could warp bomb while Reave was instant with a health leech and pin). But ultimately I want every single ability for every single class to be unique to that class.

I'm okay if class powers are re-used for companions though, especially since your companions do usually belong to one of the classes. I'm realistic about how much they can get done in time and test properly, so I don't expect everyone to have entirely unique powers, just the player classes.

Let's just hope BioWare gets some help from Visceral Games on just how an engineer fares in combat.

If the ME3 engineers get an exclusive plasma cutter-esque weapon I'll just die.

By this do you mean no other class should have say... Overload? Or do you just mean only one class (and no other characters) should have the drone? For the former that would be a big waste IMO. Overload seems like a basic skill and other characters and classes need that effect so should have it rather than creating something else which does more or less the same thing.

If you meant the latter I can understand the concern (with legion and Tali having the drone and Liara having Singularity) but it doesn't really worry me. The differences in the cooldown are enough to keep it fairly unique.

Every player class should have at least 1 ability that only players have (Charge, AR, etc). This was an oversight with the Engineers that I really hope they remedy.

I really doubt they'll make every power player unique, but I would like to see at least two.

Didn't you enjoy having 3 drones on the field?

I'm not saying that the Combat Drone has to be a player unique power! It was fun, although your crowd control capabilities with three drones is ridiculous, heh.

It still would be nice to see at least one power that only the player has access to that fundamentally changes the way you play the class, the way every other unique power does. Charge, Adrenaline Rush, Tactical Cloak, Singularity, and Tech Armor each make their respective classes feel and play differently. I'd like something like that for the Engineer.

Yep, I do see your point. I wouldn't object to that. At the same time it isn't something I am that concerned over. Liara did also have singularity but that was of course only available in the DLC mission.

I know what you mean. However you have to remember that ti would be impossible  to have all classes be completely unique.Yes,i am totally in for PLAYING uniquely and having unique tactics but hubrid claases like the Infiltrator and the Vanguard cant be completely unique POWER wise since they combien powers from 2 fields of combat. I hope my point is clear,by no means do i propose that no class should have each own feel and poweres i just want to see a bond between all of them.

As for the engineer,i beleive that the addition of poers that involve even more mashines(the drone was fun but its only one)such as turrets and mines would make them truely unique and amazingly fun to use.

So what I heard we have a Fire Lash heavy close combat attack (no idea what that is) and a Turret.

Currently struggling with enjoying the whole engineering gameplay in ME2. I'm really, really trying though! Maybe if I try enough I can convince myself it's awesome. :)

Well according to some previews, Engineers are getting something like a deployable turret.

Yeah, a turret and some sort of Flame Lash heavy close combat attack. I wonder what this turret is all about, holografic turret maybe? I just hope that it wont result in the same thing that the Combat Drone resulted in: constant spam of one ability and that's that. :/

Hmm, I never had any trouble using the Engineer. Then again I play ever class like a Soldier. And once you get the Assault Rifle training on the Collector Ship, rest of the game is a breeze.

I'm pretty excited about the turret in ME3. With the turret and my drone, I'll be a happy Engineer.

Having a turret and a demolition drone or something like that would be cool. And tech mines. Throwing tech mines everywhere and set them off when Blue Suns shotgunners get too close. Those improvements would be very nice.

Just think of this post with this video.

*Playing guitar*

Now look here buddy, I'm an engineer, that means I fire out tech abilities. Not abilities that make you go "where are the warps", because that would fall within the perview of your conundrums of Biotics. I solve practical problems.

*Drinks Uncut Batarian Ale*

For instance, how am I gonna stop some big mean mother-cannibal from tearing me a structurally large drive core? The answer *cue enemy death scream* use a turret. If that don't work, wait for cooldown and use more turrent.

*cue turret blasting closest Cerberus trooper*

"Enemy is everywh- *explosion* my arrrrrrrm!"

Like this, little ol' tech power ability designed by BioWare for me, technically 'built' by me, and you best hope... not overloading you.

*Cue Shepard sitting on dead cerberus soldiers while turret mows down more enemies*

And with this post... I believe the thread has stopped. I am proud.

Engineers should've been able to auto-hack and auto-bypass. :D

Wow, that sounds cool. I might just change my Shep to an Engineer (if we can do that).

They already get 25% of research cost xd

Anyway, would be nice to set up a turret, spawn a drone, AI hack sythetic enemy and dominate an organic at the same time, than have 2 squad members with drones and/or turrets to spawn theirs, and hack enemies xd

OVERKILL xd
