Just to state I'm currently in the 4th reinstall (as of edit 6th) of this game and decided not to keep my game saves or settings this time to see if that does anything, but in every reinstall I have had the following issues:

DAUpdaterSvc.exe crashes no matter what. I am on my Administrator account on Windows XP and so it should have full access starting using services.msc doesn't work.

I really enjoy this game but it frustrated me when I was half way through the game and found out that some of my dlc so this is when I started uninstalling and trying to find fixes for this game. Which so far has only ended me in more problems. I'd like to talk to actual customer service for EA or BioWare but I can't find any phone numbers only submit ticket crap.

My system is above the recommended requirements and I am using Windows XP 32 bit, I have McAfee but I made sure all of Dragon Age had full access. I reinstalled all of my .NET frameworks as well and if anyone want's a file link to a program that will reinstall all frameworks with hotfixes I can provide that. Also I have another program that will remove a specific .NET framework if anyone needs that as I have seen framework issues with this game.

Please someone help I played the game with bugs/glitches for 2 days and am on the 3rd day, it would be most appreciated if I could get this fix and enjoy the game with all the dlc.

The error I am recieving with DAUpdater is the 1053

Also something funny is the blood dragon armor works and appears in my Mass Effect 2 but won't show up in DAO...frustrating as well

In the technical message on the error report microsoft wants to send out these are the two files it lists if that helps

Ok so far a great number of you in the forums have helped me and of those people you have my eternal gratitude. On a side note I'd like to ask if there is anyway possible to actually in the installed content to get an option to check and make sure dlc is working if not, is there a way to check via looking at the files? Or is there a way to tell for sure in the game? I know certain things like Blood Dragon and Sepulcher's Pass can be seen pretty early in the game but for things like Soldier's Peak and Stone Golem there really is no way until you get out of Lothering and you realized it doesn't work. Just wondering if there is a way to find this out before you venture too far into the game or if a way can be created to check this via modding or making a forum sticky on how to check dlc is working.

I'd help you if I knew what might be wrong, but I chose to avoid both digital game distribution, and downloaded additional content, myself, and so I only know what I've read in here. Given the very small readership on a holiday, your best bet is the forum archives, but ditch the forum's own awful "Find / Search" function, which is next best to useless.

Use Google or Yahoo, as you prefer, but add a "redirector" to the criteria:

Well I fixed the unauthorized content and I think changing all the 1 to 0 works for any copy digital or hard copy, just need to sticky that to the other topics that don't have that listed as a solution. As all the ones I looked at have not listed the addins.xml edit for a solution

patch and my current game version is 1.04 according to the configure on

Yes the DAUpdaterSvc is not starting it errors out and the error it
gives me is 1053. This is a common problem that has not been addressed
for over a year, it's been posted in both BioWare and EA forums without
any patch to fix it.
Linda: Since game is up to date, you don;t need to use that auto updater

Linda: Follow these steps properly:

Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/Users/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings"
Edit it using WordPad or any XML editor. Replace *all* RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".

Well on my last install Soldier's Peak would not appear on the map, The
Stone Golem was not working, and my Blood Dragon Armor was not
appearing. I know with Blood Dragon Armor you start off with one piece
and have to buy the rest off of the store in camp but none of the armor
even appeared.

The only thing I didn't like was how she pretty much gave me no resolution for the DAUpdaterSvc which I still want fixed as it gets annoying when it minimizes the game saying it failed, plus if anymore patches are given I won't know since it won't update....

If you check the solutions roundup at the top of this forum, you will see that this "solution" will actually break the DLC. Authorization state is referenced in multiple files, not just the addins.xml. Areas will not trigger properly and rewards will not show up properly. There is an entire thread pinned to the top with troubleshooting solutions. I realize that official EA support is still suggesting this, but it really will cause more problems than it fixes.

Ah sorry I shall edit this to fit the actual fix, just give me some time. Thanks for the heads up, I may need a translation of the fix for DAO: UE unauthorization

Questions are always welcome. Just make sure you include the posting information in Raen's "read first" post pinned to the top of the forum (it makes it a lot easier to figure out exactly what is going wrong). Response time is a little slow during the summer, but someone will answer if you are persistent.

Raen's read first has been linked at the very first sentence of the post I just hope through the title that any unfortunate soul to have problems sees this if they do miss the sticky like I did or get too confused. If not sure someone will post in here eventually with a problem and I'd be more than obliged to help them.
