Some Shepards are neither Spectres nor part of the Alliance any longer. It isn't in Kaidan's personality to try and give Shepard orders, anyway. Either way, it's a moot point.

Its irritating to me when all of his crew are advancing and Shepard is just ignored and seen as a criminal for joining creberus for the greater good. VS gets spectre status and bumped up in rank in the alliance. Spoier Warning: Liara gets to be the new and improved shadow broker. Wrex goes back to being his clans leader back on his home turf. But what a bout Shepard. Nothing. Absolutely nothing but an empty thankyou form the council, and the alliance awards him by sending him to trial. WHAT!? Actually, Kaidan gets bumped 2 ranks and becomes a Spectre. 

I agree with you, partially.  Shepard should have received a promotion after taking down Sovereign, which would place Shepard as Staff Commander.  This would mean Shep has equal rank as Kaidan, but more seniority - even if Shep is considered MIA/KIA or AWOL while serving Cerberus.

However, I disagree with your thinking that Shepard should receive promotion during time spent with Cerberus.  The only way that could ever fly is if Shepard was ordered to infiltrate Cerberus - i.e. is still an active member of the Alliance military on a sanctioned  mission.  If your Shepard tells the Alliance to go scratch, why should Shep receive a promotion from a group he/she walked away from?  And honestly, why would it matter who outranks who if your Shep told the Alliance to go scratch?  And if your Shep tells the Council to also go pound sand, then why would it matter?  

You could call him/her Lord God Almighty for all titles and ranks will mean if your Shepard is now with Cerberus.

Lets get one thing right. Commander Shepard will always outrank staff commander Kaiden simple due to a fact that shepards rank commission came before Kaidans. Also shepard is a commander of a starship, holder of brevet captain rank.

Seriously even with the reaper threat shepard must be indoctronated or daft or something.. I mean the reapers will inevitably get to the galaxy and begin attacking.. All shepard did was delay it a bit but at the cost of starting a war making humanity weaker for when the reapers arrive.. That and make himself appear to be a homocidal mass murderer who cannot be trusted.

So if your paragon, you've got nothing to worry about, your a Spectre too!
If your a renegade...well..you can play the game listening to them.

As for Shepard being a mass murderer...well, they were Batarians, who cares?

It's just 300,000 less to deal with in the war. And let's face it, the Batarians and their "Patriots" have had war coming for a long, long time. It's about time someone shoved a relay down their throats...literally an exploding relay, but who am I too judge justifiable mass murdering of terrorists?

And since I can't copy the post above mine and don't want to double post, I'll respond in this manner. I am going through both games right now as a Colonist Shepard that will stop at nothing to exterminate every Batarian she meets with "ruthless" (see what I did there) efficiency.

OT: Since the VS is a Spectre now, I imagine that Shepard will still be in command since (s)he was a Spectre first, therefore having seniority over the recently Spectre'd Ashley/Kaidan. And if you didn't get reinstated as a Spectre I imagine that the Council will reinstate you anyway once the **** hits the fan or the VS will simply follow your orders anyway since you know what you're doing.

Shep isn't really Alliance anymore. The guy is a Specter, who pretty much out ranks all Alliance personal.

The bold font is not necessarily true, I live next to a retired Marine major and as a sign of respect I still call him Major. So who's the say the people that still call him commander aren't showing him respect fro what he did and his rank before death. But it wouldn't surprise me if he gets a promotion from the Alliance when he gets sent back to the field. This situation kinda reminds me of one of the Star Trek movies when Kirk gets demoted for blowing up the Enterprise and defying Federation orders and then gets an immediate promotion for saving the world again.

2.) No way am I taking orders from these douche bags especially after they flarked up Horizion so bad AND blamed me for a lot of the bullsh*t!!!!

3.) In real life I doubt you'd see anyone gay or bisexual (unless it was a very well kept secret) in the military as a high-ish rank. And theres no way I'm going to tollerate a gay Kaidan on my ship - I'd boot that f*cker off right quick.

No more "pandering" for me after the last batch of flamers.
