Hi, this is a new idea that I just posted in the minimal-reloads thread, and then I thought it might be good to give it its own thread.
Alesia might like this one better than my other idea - could we develop a ranking system with rank titles based on install configurations and in-game difficulty slider and number of reloads? I bet a LOT of people would get into trying to win higher ranks for themselves if they were only competing against themselves for a community-approved title.
It could be something that resembles the kinds of titles you see in forums that rank you based on number of posts.
We could discuss it and tweak it and then eventually request a sticky.
I guess some people would lie their way to the top, but the whole thing would be based on personal honor. If someone wanted to get positive attention and praise from us by lying, well, they and the gods know what their accomplishment is worth. And surely, the no-reloads threads are already like that anyway - I mean, honestly, could there really be NO chance that some people lie about their games in there?
Any takers? What do you think about the idea?

so like achivements? The plague of the gaming world.
Achievement are ridiculous, and even more for a single player game.

Personally, i would never participate in that. What ruined World of Warcraft for me, was the competetiveness which became steadily worse as Blizzard introduced more and more competetive elements to the game. The horrible achievements-system being the worst.
Call me oldfashioned, but weren't RPG's lik AD&D originally based on cooperation, on solving problems TOGETHER, instead of competing against each other?

Well, I'm not sure it's all that competitive. It's more like making a set of definitions.
But okay, the feedback seems overwhelmingly negative, so I guess it's a bad idea.

I agree with the above responses. I like these boards the way they are. People like playing by their own set of 'rules' (not to mention myriad mod combinations). Also I think it's important that people's posts (particularly when it comes to aspects of game mechanics) should be judged on their own merit rather than how many no-reload games the person's posted on this board.
Something that may be fun for some is having a thread where everyone plays with the exact same mod set-up and difficulty setting (even exact same character or party). I think this could be interesting without having to be overly competitive. I'm just throwing the idea out there, in practice it might not work.
