I would say that's pretty good analysis. I am not 100% sure, but I thought one of the commoners, if you talk to them enough mention something about a pirate's trove on the sword coast, so you might go there if you got that dialog. Also, I don't know about you guys, but we are playing ourselves, and for me I am led by my convictions and don't fit any alignment perfectly.
Otherwords your Lawful Neutral like Anomen. Your driven by your own personal goals.
To me Lawful and Chaotic is not about law and order, chaos and discord, but more about Discipline versus Undisciplined. I'm all about doing what I want when i want. As such I have zero Discipline, but I'm not a rule breaker. As such you have good and evil. Good means your goal in life to improve the environment for the good of everyone, while evil is being selfish only concern for your own interest.
As such I'm Chaotic Neutral, meaning i'm free spirited. I'm not a person who does things for others or for myself, I do things to fit my ego. As such i'm an Egoist. I do things that make me happy whether or not others like or dislike.

I've cleared my capturer's fortress, it seems to have been beneath a city. We surface to witness the collapsing of the tunnel. Outside we see a mage battling with hooded figures. Suddenly a group of mages appear, they demand that the spellcasting be stop. Despite the warning the mage began to destroy the other mages. After a minor skirmish the mage declare his opposition failure that he is bored of them. He agreed to be taken prisoner as long as Imoen was to be apprehended as well.
As such we lost a companion, but are free to rescue her should we pursue that option. Despite the events I felt it necessary to rest then take on the task finding out where we are, how we could seek aid to free our comrade from prison...
==Update 2==
Having explored the Waukeen Promenade we came across a fight in the street. Seems the lone person was stronger than the three. This individual told me that it was not time nor the place to talk about what just happen. Apparently there is a secretive war going on in the city.
I went to ask the guard what he knew of going on, only to be told the circus tent was closed until matters was taken care of. Curiousity got the better of me as i decided we was going to explore the tent for clues to what was going on... Despite warnings we proceeded into the tent. As we cleared floor by floor we came across the calprit of the matter at hand. Despite his power he fell easily. Little I have known the world shifted back to normal revealing the interior of the tent. All whom didn't parish while the illusion existed return to normal. Despite our understanding we were rewarded by the propietor quayle. On the corpse of the dead mad man was a magical belt and ring.
Having picked up Aerie in the tent she gladly indentify the items for me. It seems there are trouble unknown to myself brewing, but I regress the need to speak with someone about the matter at hand. So my plan seems to find local officials to clear up the issue with Imoen if it was possible.

We head to slums only be met by a man looking for me. I agree to speak with him after he introduced himself. He had an offer from an employer who would help me for a fee. 20,000 coins was very high amount to be ask concidering i only had 5k on me at the time. Agree to the fee I had to find a way to amount the coins. Sure enough the man nephew showed us to the local tavern. As i entered i searched the place over. A frantic young women came rushing up to me asking for help. She explain that her father estate keep has been besieged. That i was urgent we hurry if we was to help. Minsc urged me to help, although hesitant i could see the desperation of the woman. So i agreed.
As we head to city gate we was ambushed by thugs. We dispatched em and looted their goods to be sold later. Upon entering the city gate district we met a man claiming to be a messenger from trademeet. He sez there been trouble the local lord was asking for help. Again Minsc urge me to accept to help. Despite my hesitation I agreed to look into the problem. After all rumor abound sez trademeet is very wealthy trading post.
As we left the city we was again attacked by bandits.. This time a man was poison during the altercation it seems. He asked me to transport him to the city docks to a friend. I agreed and received a cash reward. Then Xzar, a mage of sort asked for my assistance. Jaheira seem to know the mage. Despite Jaheira's protest I agree to look into the disappearence of his friend. The doorman of the harper base sent me on a task to prove my loyalty. Taking care of the rogue mages we decided to rest. Upon entering the tavern Jaheira was greeted by a man who knew her. Seems the man recented her involvement in being ruined from his financial empire that he cursed her.
Seems we had to put the harper base on hold to help Jaheira cure the curse. We head to the slums to find the coward Ployer. Upon entering the house we was directed to we was met by ployer. Despite our attempt to resolve the matter peacefully Ployer attacked us. Out of the shadows three mages appeared. Lets just say the battle was chaotic... aka chaos. Eventually after Nalia wisely morphed into mustard jelly the mages fell one by one while they wasted their magic on her. Of course both Jaheira and Aerie fell in the battle.
We head to the local temple in the slums. Upon ressurrecting Jaheira and Aerie a dim witted fool tossed gold and jaheira killing her instantly. As you can imagine i vowed to kill the idiot if I ever saw him again. Once again ressurrecting Jaheira we rest at the copper coronet...
Plans for the future is to head to De'Arnise Keep to help Nalia's Father, then heading to Trademeet to see what is needed.

Entering the challenge with this character. Note that I am playing this no-reload. Yes, I know minimal reload is recommended, but I only wanted to try this to see, if I was really in Faerun, how long would it be until I was snuffed out? Also with my limited wisdom, could only memorize two spells. Since I know I will be traveling the wilderness, a heal and an entangle seemed sensible in that context.
Had I been in Faerun with me as Gorion's ward, this is what would have happened:
Father told me to get supplied and meet him at the library. That is exactly what I would do. So I got splint mail, helmet, large shield, club (m father had a club which I got to use), sling (my brother had a sling which I also got to use). I talked to Firebeard to say goodbye but he had quick chore for me. I thought I had time for that so I went outside to the main keep area to do so. I did NOT take anything from the inn, as in real life I would not do that.
When I met Tethoril he said my father was waiting, it is of the utmost urgency and to hurry. So I hurried back to Firebeard to give his scroll and went direclty to Gorion and told him I was ready to go. I would not have "explored" when my father was waiting AND it was important.
After being ambushed I let Imoen join since she was a friend. We picked up Gorion's stuff and the ogres flails and went directly back to the road, and then proceeded on the road. Anyone knows you can make your best time on the road (not climbing over brush, rocks, around trees, etc.). We met 2 gentleman on the road. He offered a potion to hep which I graciously accepted. They then laid a guilt trip on me. I asked if they could come with me to pick up my friends at the Friendly Arm first and they agreed. As I do not have detect evil and just met them, I don't know (yet) that these are evil characters.
We walked on the road, and met some unidentified person in a funny hat who yet again said to meet my friends at the Friendly Arm. We got there without incident other than we had to kill one xvart. I was tired when we got to the outside of the inn and rested. We then walked to the stairs. Tarnesh said to hold, but then he was casting spells and we could see he was up to no good with his mirror image, as he wouldn't have cast that if he were friendly.
The battle went like this: Imoen is in danger, if I run, she could die, so I attacked Tarnesh with my club. Montaron attacked with his short sword, Imoen used her magic missile wand and Xzar used his larloch's minor drain spell. Next found Tarnesh cast horror. Somehow Imoen and myself saved, while Xzar and Montaron are running in fear. I continue to swing my club. Imoen fired another magic missile from her wand. Next round Tarnesh fires magic missiles at Montaron and kills him. A FAI guard finally sees our plight and comes to assist. I got a small hit in (3 damage). Next round Tarnesh targets me with magic missiles and it results in my death.
I will be moving over to the BG 1 no-reload thread, as now I know what would have happened to me if I lived in Faerun - a short life, but that's what I suspected.

If a player prefers to solo or small parties, the gimp toon puts somewhat a damper on that. Also with no meta-gaming means lots of reloads, which isn't very appealing.
The challenge is interesting to see how far we would get before the PC dying. So far the consensus almost seems to be that Tarnesh is "overpowered" - that is, multiple clues in the story say to head to FAI, but you basically don't even beat Tarnesh level one without meta gaming. My character was killed even with Montaron and Xzar helping me!

A synopsis of my goings-on in Faerün (summary of what I posted a month ago in this topic) :
Son of Imoen, Bard, 1st level:
STR 11, DEX 12, CON 15, INT 16, WIS 8, CHA 16
BG 1 Tutu.
Difficulty-enhancing mods: only Hard Times, no tactical mods.
Tweaks: aTweaks, Rogue Rebalancing, BG2Tweaks,
2 difficulty decreasing tweaks in the last one: 100% learn spells and NWN-style level-up.
Core difficulty.
Dozing off while reading a fantasy novel, I startle and have suddenly find myself wide awake inside some kind of castle. Where am I?
I start looking for people who will be kind to help me and am suddenly attacked. I'm not one to fight, so I run away, but he comes after me. Luckily I had found myself with a stick in my hand when I woke from this place and I whack him on the head. What have I done?! I just killed a man! I am in shock.
At the Friendly Arm Inn someone approach me. Just as I heartily welcome him, glad I found the friend Gorion told me to look for, he attacks me and I rush inside a building and find a temple, but no help fighting the 3rd attacker. I run for the stairs, got struck by horror, but Imoen watches over me and somewhere in the distance the attacker fights with a guard who gets slain. But I am inside.
I'm suspicious by now, but find the true friends. Only trouble, there's an angry mage outside. We confront him: Khalid gets the full brunt of Tarnesh's magic missiles and starts running in fright. But while Jaheira casts a spell to sooth Khalid, me and Imoen manage to shoot the mage, who was already wounded by getting into a fight with the guards of the compound and thus I got Tarnesh, with a very large proportion of sheer luck.
Jaheira decides we should clean out the spiders first, before continuing south, being confident in her ability to entangle them. But her casting comes too late, the spiders get too close. First Jaheira gets poisoned, then Khalid. When we make a run for it, they both fall dead. Imoen and me get chased by spiders through the streets of Beregost and just when I think they're all dead and return to the house to retrieve Landrin's belongings, we have to run again as there's still a spider alive, that now takes his turn chasing us and his venom slays both Imoen and me. Thus ends my time in Faerûn no-reload-style.

I, Son of Imoen, are having a dreadful nightmare about finding myself in an alien, hostile world, with assassins after me. Just when I found some friends who help me out, we all get poisoned by spiders and die a horrible death – aaargghh.... With a scream I awake... and find myself in front of the spider-infested house. It wasn't a dreamj! I AM in Faerûn, trapped...
"Look Jaheira, I admit I messed up with the actress who hired us and didn't see she tricked us untill it was too late and the wrong guys got killed, but you showing off you can do it better and bum-rushing into a spiders house unprepared, wasn't a good idea either. Either we buy some antidotes for their poison first, if anything like that exists here," "Yes it does" Jaheira replies, "or we do something else. As I seem to be trapped in this place, I might as well get some experience in surviving first". "Trapped?", Jaheira aks? I tell her about a world called Earth, about electricity, cars, computers, refridgerators. No monsters and assassins haunting you, though our political leaders and businessmen put an economic stranglehold on the masses in the world and wars are fought all over the world with bombs and guns". Jaheira shows me a glazed look... she's lost on me.
"Nevermind, let's talk things through, what do we do next? I suggest you help me finding my way in this world untill I get savvy enough to take control over our goings, will you please tutor me?" "Let me take you to the countryside and teach something about survival in the wild" Jaheira answers, "the spiders can wait. We will get better at fighting" she promises me.

More practice in fighting and tactics the following day is handled well against a dozen gibberlings. Then Jaheira announces it's time to head for Nashkel. I agree to go south. I'm getting more confident now as we kill two ogrillons. One is carrying a letter he apparently fetched from a halfling messenger, in which a merchant adresses his wife. The letter came from Amn and must have been sent north. But where? Jaheira says there's a lot of towns and cities to the north: Beregost, Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep, the Ten Towns. Finding Mirianne is finding a needle in a haystack, no use trying out all those towns and cities. We tuck the letter away and continue south.
After every fight I take some time reading the scrolls we find and after we've defeated some kobolds and I sit down with those magical scribblings again, I suddenly understand them! Fevourously I pen them down: identify, shield, etc. I think I know what they can do and how to use them! Next morning, I will take a look at some of those strange bottles we found once in a while and see if i can identify those potions.

I'm developing 'Inn-anxiety-disorder' and get into an argument with Jaheira if we should cast a bless spell before entering. She thinks I'm getting too worried, but I win the argument with the argument of 'safety first' (we're a weak bunch: just north of Nashkel Khalid got almost shot to death by 2 kobold arrows). And I prove to be in the right, another assassin attacks. Jaheira gets held by a spell, but Neira's other spells fail because of the continues blows from Khalid and arrows from me and Imoen (and a single chromatic orb) and Neira is dead.
It's night by the time we are rested, and we are still careful of strangers, but the big man outside the barracks doesn't look dangerous to me – I've come to associate armoured people and wizard's robe with danger, but this one is clad in leather. He wants us to go west. The mayor of the town wants us to go south and investigate his mines, but I'll do the will of my own group first, as I must keep them happy, 'cos I depend on them for survival.
We seek a passage towards the gnoll stronghold (avoiding the bridge with the red-robed wizard, I'm scared it's another assassin). We get close to the stronghold area, but Minsc gets slain by hobgoblins. He is very strong, but just as vulnerable as Khalid. It's irritating they're not proficient in any missile weapons, as 1st level fighters, they're easily felled in melee. Back to Naskhkel for resurrection (my companions told me you can get people resurrected in a temple, I myself have never heard of it of course).

Naturally the thought of playing a game that you know most of the outcome can be hard to not want to suceed. For example I wouldn't have head to De'Arnise Stronghold right away. Normally I wait a bit, but do to my characters chaotic nature... He tends to do things as they come up rather than waiting. Yet for some odd reason I'm an Indecisive person so I'm a contradiction of myself at times. Thus why Chaotic Neutral fits me. I'm unpredictable.
==Update==
After preparing to head out to De'Arnise keep we met little obstruction this time as me made good time to the keep. Under the cloak of night we were able to find the guard camp gain information to enter the castle keep. I wasn't expecting to face trolls. Seems Yoshimo was having fun scouting as he kept finding hidden doors. With one of the hidden doors containing a Flail Head. We went to the Forge Yoshimo had passed by and gave it a shot. Suprisingly with my limited skills in blacksmithing the flail was usable again. I equiped the Flail of Ages hoping it will provide the fire power needed to end the siege on the keep.
We made our way outside to the courtyard as suggested by the guard captain. We lowered the draw bridge. In came the guards helping clear out any trolls left on the first floor. We prepared to head up stairs when Nalia reminded me that we should consider using the dog meat to make stew to deal with the umberhulk guards in the basement lvls. After cooking the meat, making Aerie, Jaheira and Minsc a bit sorrowed by my actions, I assured them it was for the benifit of the group to have options available.....
Next up is the upper floor of the Keep.

==Update==
The crew and I cleared the second floor, which we end up killing a possessed soldier. Found Nalia's Aunt who seems to be disgruntled as usual. Felt bad for the guard protecting her. Anyway yoshimo sticky fingers found another flail head. Before confronting the leader of the seige and rescuing Naila's Father i figured it be a good idea to put the flail together and make use of it. Returning to the Madams bed chamber with the flail of ages +3 in hand we head down to the basement level. Yoshimo as per instructions took the dogmeat stew and put in a cell in the prison block. Closing the door behind him we was able to prepare for trouble.
Torgul apparently wasn't a reasonable troll decided killing us was better than letting use leave. Shame really would like to have known why the keep was attacked. I can only suspect it being a Rakasha looking to reclaim the Flail of Ages. Who knows now with the Troll dead. With the death of Nalia's father she was left to face servitude as a bride to a lord or to roam the land as an outcast. I offered her sanctuary for time being.
We gather what loot we could carry and take with us. After all it did belong to Nalia as reward we claim that it would benifit the group to take what we would need to succeed in future endevors. Outside the keep we rested and prepared to head to Trademeet hoping maybe unload some items for trade goods....

Next I look at the role each class represent. I ruled out fighters as I'm not a front line person. I also ruled out Thieves as I'm not someone that will steal. I couldn't justify a Ranger as I'm not a Woodsman although I have skills with bows I'm no Archer nor am I a survivalist. I ruled out Monk as I'm not disciplined enough to be one full time. I also removed Druid, Cleric, and Paladins. I'm not a woodsman again so Druids were out of my realm of reality. Although I share their ideals of Neutrality, I don't share the same love for wilderness living. I know I'm not a Paladin as I don't have the zeal that they have to be upstanding and righteous at the same time. I look at the cleric with a view that differs from my own personality. Even though I'm religious, I'm not zealous about it. Meaning I don't try to push my way of living onto others. As such I would classify myself as not a cleric.
This leaves only 3 potential classes to concider. Mage, Sorcerer, or Bard. Mage is something I could probably concider, but then again I'm not one that likes to study all the time. Yet I'm an individual that can learn on the fly without studying. So I'm thinking a Bard or Sorcerer is more closely associated to me. I'm torn between the three cuz neither are something that I ever play in Video Games. After all we usually play opposite of our own personality in games.
So yeah i'm in a debate over which of the three I am more suited to learn. I probably know the answer be Bard, but I don't want to close off Mage or Sorcerer.

I've played a similar scenario like that out in the game, once. My Bhaalspawn was too flighty and scared to fight for his life, so he stayed in Beregost with Garrick, while Imoen, Khalid and Jaheira went to deal with the mines. It required extensive use of the Ctrl Q console cheat, and it didn't really work, because even after my Bhaalspawn rejoined the party, the game mistook Khalid as the main character, but I had fun, regardless

I decide to explore the immediate area first. On the map we see directions to a Carnival, though it takes some searching through woodland to get there. The first thing we spot is a woman turned to stone – there's a basilisk around (at least, that's what I think, putting metagaming knowledge aside). So I give the woman a wide berth, spot
some tents. I just talk to some village people and they're talking about demons in the mines – so I shouldn't go to the mines yet, methinks.
Scouting the immediate area, there's a tower closeby. "Durlag's Tower", maybe the local Lord? I take a look. The
merchant talks ominously, but just everything is ominous here: the roads are dangerous, I'm told, the mines, and I'll happier deal with people inhabiting a tower, than with a mine inhabited my demons (you get really different conclusions to what to do first without previous gaming knowledge!). Minsc immediately get smashed to deat by a
'knight with a flaming sword', Khalid wants to deal a counterblade but is immediately slain as well. We run and have to leave behind their equipment.
We got 2 dead fighters to resurrect, only 107 gp cash and no equipment for them. We're in dire straits. However, we have some gems we can identify. After a nights rest, all is identified and it's night, so I decide it's a good time to let Imoen go into stealth and search the basilisk. But there's no basilisk. There's a gnome standing there, who
wants us to buy a scroll. Before I can decide anything, Jaheira gives him a Thwack!! on the head and takes a scroll. The maiden is a priestess and she asks us to join. We accept.
By this time I found out the tents are all merchants, or so I think. We buy Branwen a warhammer, but searching to sell some rings and buy a sling, we run into a wizard who wants to slay a witch. Maybe she is a witch, but the only dialogue options I can choose seek a confrontation and so I do. Jaheira's Doom finds it's target, Branwen's Command doesn't and even though she hurls a spiritual hammer and Khalid hits him dual-wielding bastard swords, the rest of us get horrified by him and run around confused. An acid arrow send by Zordal finds it way to my heart and I'm dead. Again.

I awake, again with a nightmare about being haunted by wizards that lure everywhere – inns, stores, on a bridge in Nashkel. Wilderness seems the most safe. When I open my eyes, I find myself surrounded again by Khalid and Jaheira, Imoen and Branwen and we head back north, where we've had the most succes so far. Bandit's, despite the warnings from townfolk, seem the least dangerous enemies. We find some money of them we might use to resurrect Minsc, but before it comes that far, everything gets black for me when one of the second group of kobolds we meat gets a lucky shot of and kills me at once.
[3rd reload], I awake, again, having nightmares, but still finds myself trapped in Faêrun. I'm shaking with fright by now. Those nightmares of wizards, of getting killed, of living in this hostile place is getting the worse of me. Jaheira takes the lead, she takes us to the temple to have Minsc resurrected. We only have 39 gp left now to equip him. Two sets of precious scale mail lie at Durlag's tower, as well as his two-handed sword. We have just enough to buy Branwen a sling, Minsc leather and a single mace. We're all dressed in plain leather accept for Imoen who doesn't even have armour. We have 3 gp left, not even enough to buy a nights rest at the inn.

Surprise – he wants to hire us, to kill a witch. But that witch is the one Minsc wants to save. They argue and I pick Minsc's side. Even though Edwin isn't hostile, I order the attack and quickly get my revenge on mages. He's dead. Killing feels good, I'm not myself anymore. This feels like some horrible Conrad's heart of darkness.
I head to the Nashkel mines. Half-ogres ambush us and Minsc falls for the 3rd time. When we arrive at the Nashkel Mines I don't know the way around of course. Walking towards a shack I see, then a tower, then a path ever more south I come at an artist who has admits he has been stealing gems. Just as I'm about to leave him alone, a fighter comes who wants to take him for the bounty. I just ask to let him finish a work and again we have an enemy. Nothing seems to be able to be resolved by fighting in this world and again I fell dead.

How to escape from this world, is my only thought. It's these people who keep me here, my companions, is my guess. Some days earlier I met a wizard at a gravestone who said, don't touch me or there are dire consequences. It's the wizards that are deadly It's the wizards that mean death. I ire him by touching the gravestone a second time and a third time, 6 phoenix guards come and take my life. I find myself behind my computer desk again. On earth.
If I found myself trapped on Faerûn, I'd really go mad quickly. It makes me thankful to live in Holland, where there's disability checks, medicins, psychiatric nurses, volunteer's work, safety on the street, food in the fridge. Dire as a depression is, living in Faerûn is plain hell. I'm glad it's just a game. Life is really bad, with injustice, inequality, governemt cuts on benifits and social welfare, money spent on armament, money serving to make the rich richer, but Faerûn with it's monsters as every corner is as plain hell to really experience just as World War II must have been, or modern day Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia or other places I grieve about. There's even worse then living in the same country as Wilders and Rutte.
I'm glad I don't live in Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia or Faerûn.
And I'm glad Baldur's Gate, like all RPG's, like the Battlefield series, are just games and are not about me really having to fight real people and really killing and fighting for my life.
