Question:

With the numerous release of so many different lithographs recently compared to
the past, does it have a negative effect on the value of the collection as it
dilutes the rarety or ability to collect them all, or does it increase the value of the collection as
it allows more individuals to get into the game?

I personally don't see them as an investment, just another way to enjoy a great
franchise, and welcome different scenes and subjects to pick and choose
from.  But for those that do invest in your ME litho collections (and with
an Illium just selling for $900ish for a $30 upfront charge who can argue),
what are your thoughts?

sorry, but did that one on ebay that was listed at $500 today really shoot up to $900 by the end of the auction?

in any case, i just recently discovered these existed. i wish i knew about them earlier so i could have had a chance at a few of them. i bought the kirkwall keep, meredith, arishock, and pragia ones because they were the only ones available and i enjoy them hanging up on my wall in my house. i think they should be bought just to enjoy by a fan, rather than it being bought by an investor, sitting under their bed for a few months, and then being sold for a rediculous price.

That Illium sold for 900? Wow... It really makes me wonder how much the original Saren/Anderson is.

And for the original topic: I think these lithographs are probably a decent investment. The early ones might get you quite a bit but all of the others I think will get you around $100 in profit depending on popularity.

Makes me wonder if I should start to sell some of my collection off.

EDIT: Yup, it went for about 900.

cgi.ebay.com/Mass-Effect-Illium-Lithograph-/230639110625

$898.81 plus $15 shipping = $913.81

You can always go back and edit that stuff out of your initial post.

The amount ive spent on the bloody things i'd like to think they're an investment. In fact i will just so it hurts less.

900 for an Illium though? So much for getting hold of that one

Not so much, I'd guess: I saw one being snapped up for what I considered a very high price and immediately re-listed by the buyer at a ludicrous price.  There were no takers, and as far as I know, still no takers once the price was substantially reduced.  I think the main problem is that it's just not that good, which seems to be an additional criterion for games are collectors where mere rarity might be enough elsewhere.

When did the Saren go on ebay? What price did it originally go for?

About a month ago is the best I can do, I'm afraid - I didn't make a note and the past couple of weeks haven't been particularly conducive to me remembering things...

Yeah, that wouldn't be your Ebay listing it, would it?

Nope, I haven't sold any of my lithographs to date. I'm planning on doing some around ME3 though. The worst thing that could happen is that game tanking, it would probably destroy the value of the lithographs.

Oooh, good point. Though I have a feeling that could tank.

And in other news it seems ebay has gotten onto an illium bandwagon with somebody else putting up another one.

Really, that's not you? I just find it really odd that you and the Ebay seller have the same very distinctive carpeting -

O.o Yup, they do have the same carpeting as me... Though honestly the only reason I have that carpeting is because its cheap and stain resistant. Probably why they have it, lol =P

Currently have all of the Mass Effect lithographs, but I have all 3 DA lithographs that I am willing to trade.

I'm interested in the Team and possibly Alice.

Oh, just thought to point it out so it so rarely happens, there's an Illium up on eBay atm.

In another amazing coincidence, you decided to alert us forumites with the above helpful "public service announcement" on the very same day the listing started. That was very thoughtful of you. Image IPB

I regularly peruse Ebay to see what's going on with ME lithographs. That was the first time I saw an Illium for up bid so I thought I'd put out the word.

In the same vein I see a Wards is currently up and I don't always see those going on.

Really? Have you "put out the word" previously? If so I must have missed your helpful posts. You truly are a gentleman and a scholar! On behalf of all of us forumites who remain blissfully unaware that Ebay is a primary source for ME2 lithos, my heartfelt thanks!!

Ah the old absolute statement fallacy. It's been a long time since I've seen anyone resort to that one. I don't believe I've said any such thing.

Honestly, the only reason I posted anything is due to it being fun for me. Your sarcasm included in your previous posts.

Though I fear we have gone quite a bit off topic from the original poster's intent.

Though you have allowed me to procrastinate from other things I should be doing :wizard:

And finally let me use a meme! It's been... Heck, I don't know how long its been since I used one.
