Let me be the first to raise hand for a hawt 3-way with the Desire Demon and Sandal.

ENCHANTMENT ! ;)

{me grabs handful of sandal's 'special runes', along with the lyrium idol fragment, a large kielbasa, 2 rubber duckies, 3 sea shells, some scented massage oil, and a several bottles of the Aggregio}

For the full effect, be sure to go into your options menu, and enable the "persistent gore" option, otherwise you'll be missing out. ;)

So...Flemeth and Sandal? I'm not sure Bodahn would approve. ^_^

I disagree on both accounts, about the ugly personalities that is. They both do what they do for noble reasons. To protect their fellow man. Meredith especially seem to be driven out of love, for mages and all, whereas Petrice is to some extent animated by less admirable traits like fear and hate. Still I can but sympathise. We should assume she comes from the North and has a troubled past. It is suggested that she has experienced a qunari conversion wave and the horrors such a thing entails. If Hawke befriends her she can be encouraged to be less overzealous.

While Meredith is clearly unfit for her office she would no doubt have performed admirably given a subordinate position under someone stable. She deeply cares for and wants to protect the mages something that is much needed in the templar body where brutes like Ser Alric, with truly ugly personalities, seem to be all too common.

We must have played completely different games then. In my game she repeatedly breaks Chantry laws that are in place to protect mages, by turning mages Tranquil left and right even after the Harrowing and ignoring it when her templars abuse their charges. By act II she declares supporting apostates a hanging offense. By act III she wants every mage in the Gallows executed and when she fails to persuade the Grand Cleric to approve for a Right of Annullment she sends it to the Divine in Orlais instead.

I'm not sure how you can read 'love' into anything she does. There may have been a point where she was driven by a desire to protect, but that has long since been replaced by an intense hatred and fear of mages.

I adhere to the description of Meredith as an abusive but loving parent. Even in the end I think she kills the mages largely to spare them from what she feels is a fate worse than death, the one that her sister fell victim to, becoming abominations. Corruption has by then driven her to belive they are all bound for that.

I recommend this thread: Meredith: an analysis.

I read it and I disagree with it. I see no indication that she does what she does out of love. None. You have to be extremely generous to her character to interpret her that way, and I am not.

Did you read the comment from the lead writer of the game (page 2)? Have you sided with the Templars and explored Meredith's dialogue doing so? Have you observed the sadness in her voice when she is asking for alternatives towards the end of the game? It seems to me she would like nothing more than to have one but her corruption doesn't allow her to see any.

Cassandra reminds me of Captain Brelaina (NWN2) who I sent 10 % of my soldiers for obvious reasons with no luck.

Indeed.  Just by virtue of being reasonable and logical, he was incredibly attractive.  I hope he doesn't go insane in DA3.

And Cassandra is awesome.  Hope we get to see more of her, and learn much more about her.

Cassandra, Lady Elegant and Lilley.

Yes, the last two made a rather large impression on me despite being very minor characters.

I read it. I know what happened to her sister. I think she wants to think herself as loving and ultimately in it for the good of the mages, but I don't take what she says seriously when she in the next breath orders every mage in Kirkwall executed because the 'public will demand blood', even Bethany whom she declares an exemplary mage. If she truly cared for the mages, she would not turn her Circle into a torture chamber where the mages get beaten without anyone saying anything against it or allowing people like Ser Karras or Ser Alrik among her templars. She even calls the mages an infection upon all humanity. Regardless of what she might want to believe, she's motivated by hatred and fear and not love. Sorry, but I don't see it.

I thought about Lilley, too - she was appealing.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried the end with the Templars?

No, I haven't.

Tries, you'll see. :)

It's not that bad.

Try everything, it's the best way to understand, not necessarily approve, but understand the characters, their views as a whole.

Unless if it's really impossible for you to be with the templars as well.

What does she say then that convinces you so? I fail to understand how it nullifies everything she has done up to that point.
