Cullen, Cassandra, and Nathaniel.

A Cullen romance is ridiculously necessary. He's still adorably awkward.

But Nathaniel needs his original voice back. I'm not very fond of how different sounding his voice was in DA2.

Yeah, Nate's voice did sound a lot more gravelly, even though he had the same VO. I think the general consensus among most of us Nate supporters is that Song of Valor can really strain the throat. ;) Or, perhaps it was done intentionally to reflect how his character has aged from when we knew him in Awakenings?

Either way, I'm not complaining too much. At least it was the same voice actor. Nate still made my F!Hawke swoon.

It might have been fun to seduce Aveline's husband, just to upset her.

I preferred his voice in awakening, personally. It was a touch gravelly, but still very.. Upper class/noble like? I dunno. I think his voice in awakening fit his character better.

It's possible that it could've been to show he aged. But it didn't really sound older. It sounded more like he had been screaming all night long at a concert.

I still like the dynamic of Nathaniel and a FemCousland though. If we ever get a Nathaniel romance, I hope it would have an equally interesting background to it. Not necessarily something the same, but some kind of difficulty to make it all angsty again.

I would totally get behind a F!Cousland/Nate romance. A lot of potential for storytelling there.

And the belligerent sexual tension she'd have with the Male Hawke.

Even Varric notices that she seems to want him after he defeated the Arishok.

In my first (spoiler-free) play I actually tought at first that Saemus Dumar, Seneschal Bran (he would be a great option for rivalmance), Cullen and even Seneschal Bran's son would be NPC romance options.
Probably the reason I thought the first 3 were romance options is because they have more interactions than an ordinary NPC.
About Seneschal Bran's son... I got that idea after Hawke's mother suggested that he would be a good option for my female Hawke.

Not sure how I missed that Seneschal Bran had a son. I do love this bit of trivia about him on the Wiki:

In Act 2, you can see him getting treated for what is assumed to be a sexually-transmitted disease, at Anders' Clinic.

I guess I've missed that, but how funny.

It's a pity the Seneschal's son never appears in game, he is only mentioned. I was curious to see him. At first I was puzzled at the fact that Bran had a son Hawke's age (he looks younger than Leandra to me), but I guess it means he became a father when he was very young.

BTW, it is implied that the one who transmited the disease to Bran was Isabela. If you have Isabela in the party while visiting Anders clinic, Bran will be there complaining about the rash he got after having sex with a "port woman", and, after Anders says that "Bran should never have sex with these women", Isabela will reply: "I'm listening!".
If you don't have Isabela in the party, the one that will appear in Anders clinic complaining about a sexually transmited disease is Isabela.
Also, if you pay attention, in one of the cutscenes that happens in Fenris mansion Isabela tells Fenris that the seneschal's tax collector won't be coming around any more.

@Funny_chan

Seneschal Bran always looked pretty young to me, so it is strange to think that he's got a child Hawke's age.

You know, I always see the cutscene with Isabela, not Seneschal Bran, so obviously I don't bring Isabela with me nearly enough. :)

Athenril, the elven smuggler.  She made such an impression on me when I first played, not sure whether it was her appearance or voice, but I just really thought she was cool and pretty (those eyes).

That and...I'll have to throw myself onto the Nathaniel bandwagon (even though he was a temporary companion in his quest, but...Shh!) I'll always opt for him as a possible romance, especially with a strong and possibly volatile backstory with a Human Noble. ;)

I personally never really played as a mage in Origins so I never really saw the appeal with Cullen.  But when I met him in DA2 he grew on me, he's not like the normal Templars that my Hawke seemed to bump into left-right-and-centre. I really respected him for standing up to Meredith and taking my Hawke's side at the end, so he's earned a palce on my little list of fave Dragon Age characters now. :P

In my first 2 playthroughs I also didn't bring Isabela with me most of the times, but I was getting tired of her abandoning the party everytime I reached the end of Act II and decided to change that. Now I bring her almost everywhere I go, and I gotta say that my perspective on her changed for the better.

Me too!  I can't believe I forgot to mention Nate! He is my favorite Awakening character, and one of my favorite Bioware characters overall.

I like to think that Nate is my Female Human Noble Warden first (and unrequited) love. I even wrote a fanfic about that (and it's very rare for me to write fanfics).
It goes more or less like this: he was Fergus best friend and they used to train together and my tomboy character liked to watch (and even participate when allowed).  She fell in love with him, and was going to confess, but, before she had the opportunity to, he went to live in the Free Marches. Later on, she got tired of waiting, married her new love Alistair, but Nate was still a special person for her, so much so that she spared his life in Awakening and made him a warden.

I got my hopes up when David Gaider replied like this "I like Nathaniel. So stoic. I think he would have been my choice for Awakening romance, had we done them." in a topic I made when DAII was still in production.

^ This

Exactly the same with Isabela for me too, FunnyChan!  I'm starting a third playthrough with my same Rogue (my 'canon' Hawke, if you will) I've been abandoned constantly so I'm just gonna bite the bullet and take her with me next time, hopefully she might turn out to be my Hawke's BFF :P

I'm so glad I'm not alone in the whole NatexF!Cousland fanfic area, I'm currently working on one at the moment (literally, as we speak, I have the Word file up on my desktop XD) although mine was about when they grew up together terrorising each other when the Howes would visit and Nate left for the Free Marches, so they never really thought about a relationship.  But the way their parents kept joking about it, it made my Cousland see him in a new light but she was pessimistic that he would return her feelings, so she wrote what she felt in a letter and sealed it as a form of "release"...but Fergus found the damn thing and sent it to Nate instead!  Of course, she hides it and claims it was a brotherly prank, hehe.  But when they meet up after everything, she's with Alistair and is happy, but then she bumps into Nate at the Keep and there are all these old feelings conflicting with the history that his father killed her family...but there are still sparks there, and she is severely tempted. (I mean, who wouldn't be, right? ;)).  That's where I'm stuck currently, trying to see if my Warden would cheat on the guy that she's been through everything with, would she throw it all away for a past romance?

That end comment from David Gaider made me smile, it's nice to think that Nate was considered, possibly for a romance somewhere.  We like the Howe, yes we do.

Back to this topic...a Sten romance? Really?  That would have been...interesting considering the talks he shared with Morrigan...

Nate. ^_^

And Keran is the most adorable templar ever, but he seems too young.

I giggle every time Cullen sprints away in the mage origin, but wouldn't want to romance him.

Some of you are thinking of romance of possible companions like Cass, Nath etc boring as I'm finding it restrictive so it would be nice in DA3 to have romances outwith your companions someone like the templar Ruvena who I can't ever see being a companion.

I'll agree with most here, Athenril would've been a fun romance to play though; a bossy, cool and laid-back smuggler elf sounds nice indeed ^^

Now I would add Orana but... her face scares the crap outta me, seriously. Though it would've been a very cute hurt/comfort sorta romance, which is kind of appealing to me...

Idunna would've been cool too if Hawke had spared her, but instead of sending her to the templars made her on of his/her connections (she DOES have useful powers) and sort of just kept an eye on her and eventually they got to know eachother... quite well. Oh, Anders and Fenris would NOT approve! XD

For males I would definetly have to go with Feynriel, he's just so adorably sullen X) Someone needs to step in and tell the little brat he ain't so special

Feynriel: Did the templars send you?

Hawke: Your mother sent me. :wizard:

Feynriel: Psh. Hardly makes a difference! <_<

Hawke: :(

Then of course Jethann because DAT SASSB)
