My biggest disapointment is with Ash's looks and the mentioned character change. I want my ME1 Ash back.
She should wear armor instead of this horrible Miranda treatment that she is getting from BW.
Stop crying. It has been confirmed on tweeter that Ashley will be able to wear normal armour (like in ME1).
Confirmations mean much less with out photos. One thing that is confirmed with a picture and I think is on par with Ashley's stupid attire? NORMANDYA.

I really would like to believe that but all BW shows us are these skin tight catsuits she is in. That is not in line with her character.
I will shut up as soon as Bioware gives us some screenies with Ash in armor in ME3
A fair point, you can find that tweet in "The Twitter thread or Kaindan, Ashley, James & Liara" threads. Good thing I haven't told you to shut upI don't see any horrible treatment for Miranda. Does her suit really matters? Is it a real life breaker/saviour ? It's not a big deal as this is just a game (to me).
I know that you didn't tell me to.
I am a man but even I think that Miranda was BWs way of objectifying women to be objects of sexual desires. Women are still human beings with rights. If the younger generation of our gamers (I am 26) takes to heart how women are portrait in TV, movies and video games what chance do women have in the future to be taken seriously and be treated correctly?
Ash is a strong and independend woman in the game. To change her to a sex object is just wrong on so many levels.
I've seen the twitter post myself when it was posted. I was overjoyed to read it but without pictures to back that claim up it is no good on its own.
Now this new picture of Ash still as a sex object shows up and worries me.

Well I'm only 5 years younger, but we both know how marketing and business works today. Some women like it because it is easy money for them. I see nothing sexy in her "catsuit" though (believe me I love women

We men avoid them, as they are too big of a challange to us. That is why there is so many "single" females atm (according to statistics). It just shows we, men have to adjust instead of falling down like many shown in TV world wide (I mean some men look like women).
Of course, that stat couldn't have anything to do with the fact that maybe we've cheapend human sexuailty to just one brief encounter, and then gloating about it.

I love women but there is ... how can I say it. Women do show a lot these days. Not all of them. There are still those strong, indepentend and real women out there too.
Try going to the grocery store in the summer. The women where I live don't leave much to the imagination. Why would I want to pursue such a woman romantically. I have already seen everything I wanted to see. No mystery, no fun to find out more about her character or even her body.
Ash appeals to me in ME1 because of her no nonsense attitude, being a strong and independent woman who doesn't care about what other people and especially men think of her. She said so herself in one of her conversations aboard the Normandy SR-1.

Well, I always try to avoid to be with "plastic" looking girls and those who show too much although I like to take a look at what they reveal
I remember what she says in ME1. I hope you remember how many complaints there were about her short appearance in ME2. People just laughed at how she looked like. If she can run around in armour, many people will be happy. Although I dont see complaints about Jack running around the battlefield topless with skin exposed for gun fire.
Edit:
What do you think about that ?

Don't get me started on the inappropriateness of Jack's appearance.
I only bought the Alt. Appearance Pack to give her some clothes. To cover her up.
I prefer women who are intelligent, strong, strong willed, independent, no nonsense attitude and who won't care about what other people say or think of them. In short: A real woman and not a barbie.
That pic of Ash in armor is great and suits her character.

I see we have very similiar taste if comes to women (similiar because each person has individual sense of beauty).Barbies - hell no. Real women - hell yes! I've just added in my previous post a picture, how Ash would look like in armour. I know it is photoshopped. It looks nice though. Chestplate is different, as we both know females in ME1 and ME2 use different chestplates but still it's practical for a heavy soldier like her.

That said, given I've been given all of sh*t and all in regards to Ashley content for a really long time now, I'm not going to let it spoil my excitement for her returning. It's the same way I felt when I found out I couldn't play as an Elite in Halo: Reach Matchmaking in matchmaking save for specific gametypes and via the custom game system.
I could either complain and walk away and get nothing, or accept the compromise. It pissed me off but nevertheless I coped. I know saying that I'm okay with it because 'it's better then nothing' is kind of a defeatist viewpoint, but what can I say?
Yes it annoys me, yes I even find it kind of sexist. I find it obnoxious that they had to design Ashley's look to pander to the traditional fratboy demographic in order to make money, I find it upsetting that whoever it was who was responsible for all the clever gender roles and fair character design had to be pushed away in favor of 'T&A guy'.
But still, given how sexualized Ashley COULD have been, it's still oodles above how low the bar can be set when it comes to this.
Compared to Samara, Miranda and Jack... Ashley's almost puritanical.
As it stands, it dissapoints me but damn it, I've waited something like two years for this and I am going to embrace it with a smile. Compromise or not, I'm an Ashley fan and I always will be. It's not perfect but I can deal with what I'm given.
Barely but still... if under all that there's still that wise cracking lionheart with the spark of manic energy that James Shepard fell in love with long ago... I wouldn't care if she looked like Brundlefly.
Ash... I still love you.

I seem to remember Jack getting similar treatment-- some people went as far as to call her a "cancer patient". Now she's one of the most popular character in the series.
(pft, as if being bald is considered exclusive to cancer treatment--some people are absurdly retarded)

It's ok about Jack.
We do have that in common about women.
Those photoshop pictures of Ashley are great. That is real armor. It makes her look great. It's just so frustrating these days. It doesn't matter where you look. Sex sells. It is a shame that women are objectified like this.
And it worries me even more that some women out there like to go along with it. I really would like to know why.

Do you seriously hear what you're saying?
LOOK, EVERYONE:
If you are judging Ash based upon her personal appearance (which might be completely beta for all we know) then you are no better than the "womanizers" you condemn. You are deliberately putting her into a niche, based upon her look for a game which is 7 months from release.
Women on this forum: I get that you are fed up with how the media sexualizes women. Hey, it sucks, but it just isn't gonna go away. But blaming BW is absolutely wrong. Why? Because a large part of BW's games revolve--not around the appearance of NPCs, but the characters you meet, and their personal stories.
For any of you to pass negative judgement on Ash, Miranda, Jack, Samara, etc etc because of this means that you--
>Didn't/don't pay attention to the person inside of the character model
>Have already played ME3 (O RLY?)
>Are prematurely judgmental

True, dying breed.. not to mention that most women out there nowadays are so shallow it's disgusting.. No offence
Anyways Biggest dissapoint so far would be just one since ME3 was announced : Liara's new face is NOT her LotSB face - which lets face it was gorgeous, why replace it with this is just puzzling and stupid, no-one matures that much in 2 months (time between mass effect 2 and 3)

lol If you read all my posts in this thread than you would know that I am not judging Ash's character. I am only judging Ash's model for ME3.
I like the ME1 Ash a lot. Love that character. I even loved the ME1 Ash model but what drew me to that character was her character.
Please read more before you post and attack someone for standing up for the other gender.
