The game looks awesome and I would love to get it for my son, but I don't want the sex scenes.  Is there any way to remove or disable these from the PC version?

Thanks so much.Image IPB

I'm sorry, I was pretty sure I could come up with a quick answer for this but it's not so clear.

Hopefully a Bioware Dev can look into it ( I'll try and keep the thread alive for you ) and get an answer.

I'll also have a trawl through the config files to see if there is anything related.

Check back tomorrow.

Without the sex there's still plenty of gore and violence in there though...

Besides, didn't get Dragon Age a high-age rating?

Since when is sex not ok, but death and violence is?

Oh wait, that's right, here in America, a 5 year old watching a decapitation is fine, but he will be scarred for life if he sees a boob or someone swears around him.

This game is rated M for a reason.

Time to re-examine your priorities.

I think it's fair to not get into a debate with the guy. He's a dad, obviously not a forum regular and maybe not a game player.

He's asked for help. It would be nice if we could give him an answer even if that is a "No"

It's not the place of anyone here to give any kind of moral lesson.

the main problem for a young child is the relation between him and others npc. You can easily hurt their feelings, you can even be a real bastard, but nobody is hurt in real life. For an adult it's easy to make the difference, not for a child. Ask to a doctor, it's far more complex than it is for an inexperienced eye.

Plus there is the problem of violence, blood, and gore. I know a kid can see a lot more just watching news on tv, but it's the parents job to keep them safe.

This game is really for adult only, or a teenager if he is mature enough.

There are no real sex scenes are there? They never get naked during them thus can't be consider sex scenes. (without mods) Can your kid handle caressing, bras and panties. It is more suggestive than actual...

EDIT: Oh and as far as america. The reasoning (not saying I agree) is that people who see nudity/sex is more likely to go out and do it than someone who sees violence.

if your son can't handle the scenes, i don't see how he could handle the gore. its rated M for a reason.

If your son is younger than the average age I personally would think a person needs to reach in order to enjoy Dragon Ages' thick storyline and mature writing why bother letting him play the game at all?

If he can handle dismemberement and morally wrong decisions leading to death and despair he can certainly handle something as beautiful and natural as (virtual) sex scenes, IMO.
Sex scenes in without any real nudity especially :-)

In all honesty if you think your son is old enough to play the game (with all the gore and violence) you probably won't mind him seeing the sex scenes too much, they really are very tame; there is no nudity whatsoever, just a woman in her bra and pants.  I get the distinct impression that Bioware felt they had to tone down this aspect of the game after the ridiculous fit of apoplexy thrown by Fox news and almost nobody else after Mass Effect.

EDIT:  I realise there may be some cultural differences here but it really depends on the age and maturity of your son.  To be honest I would say that if he's too young for the violence and sex then he probably won't enjoy the rest of the game anyway  - about 50% of your time is spent in conversation dealing with some fairly complex politics and religious issues.  The other 50% is spent in some of the most unforgiving combat I've experienced in a game, it would have been far too fraustrating for me when I was a young teenager ;).

The sex scenes are very PG-13 or R at best. So if you don't have a problem with the gore and adult story, the sex scenes aren't much to worry about.

I do not think there is, other than forcing Morrigan, Leliana, Zevran, and Alistair to leave....

The only way I can think of is to use the toolset to create a 'censorship mod' that replaces those scenes by fades to black and maybe covers up the desire demons a bit more.

Even so, consider this: the sex scenes in the game show far less than your average Hollywood movie sex scene does.

how old is your son? this game is rated Mature for good reasons, and sex is not the only one.

They aren't even nude scenes, yet i'm sorry but some parents rage at games where their children can see gore and nudity - and have the game then be flamed by the media. Keep the game to yourself and let your son play with his action man dolls.

Wow how "matured" some of you are, who's giving this poor guy a moral lesson. If you don't have anything useful to add, just politely ignore this thread and mind your own business. How he wants to raise his kids is entirely up to him and his family and that's not what he asked advice for.

After playing God of War and The Witcher I was actually hoping they wouldn't get as squeamish about the sex. How about two mods on that makes it PG and one that makes it actually M for mature.

hmmm.... a parental control and removal of gore/nudity for future updates/games might be a good idea....

The game is rated M...but not (only) for the sex scenes. The game is also very brutal and there is also a lot inter-party talk going on that is not meant for children. Oghren for instance loves to talk about sex and ******, especially when he's in conversation with Wynne, who is at least 50 years old (guess she's still much younger then the dward though :D)

So if your son is not old enough or mature enough (I know that maturity is not always bound to age) you shouldn't let him play this game. It's your decision, but I just wanted you to know that there's more to the game then the sex scenes (who are, by the way, totally harmless). ;)

I'm suprised they didn't make this an Option Screen option.

As for the original question, it may be worth asking it to the Toolset users.

What do you mean get ri of the sex scenes?! The question should be: How do we make them more explicit?
