What do you mean get ri of the sex scenes?! The question should be: How do we make them more explicit?

seriously. You are not making any friends here with the 'lessons'

It's a tech help forum. Take the game content debate to the appropriate forum and leave this for someone to come up with a definitive answer for the question which has been posed.

The sex scenes are only there if you go looking for them. I'm on my fourth playthough now, and I've not once seen a sex scene.

I think it's fair to not get into a debate with the guy. He's a dad, obviously not a forum regular and maybe not a game player.
He's asked for help. It would be nice if we could give him an answer even if that is a "No"
It's not the place of anyone here to give any kind of moral lesson.

This.
The man asked a question, no need to try and lecture him about whether or not it is harmful for children. And personally, I wouldn't know how either.

That's not really the point.

If his son is not old enough for the PG-13 "sex" scenes, then he's not old enough to handle the other 99% of the game.

Please try and address the subject without turning this into a debate over issues much grander than video games. As others have said, this is a technical forum, please stay on topic.

That's a mral choice neither you, I or anyone else other than the OP is capable of making. The tech question remains unanswered.

The OP brought it up.

It's not currently likely that the "sex" scenes can be disabled without severely busting the game.  Until the new toolset is released, I wouldn't even begin to try messing with the single player module.

Theoretically, you could edit the plot flags for the characters, and disable the ability to access the relevant plot points.

I've already looked at all that data, but only in read-only mode.

Thanks. At least that's a considered answer that leads us to think that currently there is no way to disable the 'adult' content in the game.

You misread my post.

There is already a way to disable the 'adult' content in the game.  You can uninstall the game, because all of the game's content is 'adult' content.  It's rated M for more than just the character romance.

I think the only option is to modify the campaign with the toolset as I didn't see any movie files for those... scenes, they are not like your typical cut scenes.

I don't think the game with the level of decapitation is appropriate for someone who can't handle mild clothed "personal" scenes, but whatever floats your boat.

I'm pretty sure there is no way to remove them right now. Removing the sex scenes is not something that the vast majority of players or buyers are interested in so it might not make sense to go through the effort of supporting a feature that would be used so little.

Perhaps now that you have asked someone will try to figure out a way to do this but don't expect it. Anyone concerned about the very tame sex scenes is most likely outside the target audience. The average person probably sees more explicit material in middle school than they would in this game.

A mod might be able to do it but I don't think anyone has any interest in making a mod like that. In fact I expect the modding community will try to take things in the other direction.

I've played through the game in its entirety once.  I would have to say that IF the sex scenes in the game are the source of objection, then the visit to the brothel that is part of a quest, wherein it is possible to have a threesome or foursome, and at which location it is possible to hire prostitutes of the same, opposite, and 'mixed' genders would also present an objection.  The end story where you have the option of *spoiler Warning* getting Morrigan pregnant to save yours and allisters life would also present a problem. (Highlight space to read)  *end Spoiler*.  All that being the case, I would have to say flatly, that No, there is no way to completly disable the adult content to the point that I would let anyone under the age of about 16 play this game.  (the sex scenes etc. are tamer than what can commonly be found on most late night cable.

Wow how "matured" some of you are, who's giving this poor guy a moral lesson. If you don't have anything useful to add, just politely ignore this thread and mind your own business. How he wants to raise his kids is entirely up to him and his family and that's not what he asked advice for.

No point in making judgements. True. But this is a rated M game. I see NO reason for BW to "tone down" the game. The game is designed for people 17+. PERIOD.

If parents, and it is their right, choose to allow their childer to play the game then it's their business.. but for a parent to come on here whining for BW to tone the game down is absurb. Solution, simple: buy your child another game if this game makes you unconfortable.

This game is not for conservative types in the slightest ;)

Thanks to all for your comments, critical and non-critical.  I am a Christian and a gamer.  Believe it or not, the two are not mutually exclusive!  I love the debate here, but it's probably not for this particular forum.  Thanks again for your input, good and bad.  It has made me think more critically.Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Speaking as an adult who works with children and teens every day, I have to say that I would not recommend this game for anyone younger than 16, and not even for some over 16.  It's not just the sex scenes.  Some of the origin stories deal with fairly brutal topics, such as slavery and prostitution. And as others have mentioned, the dialog between party members is sometimes racy.  A tender hearted kid would have nightmares from this game.  And the violence in the game is extreme...and sometimes heartrending.

In conclusion, even if one could edit out the sex scenes, there are other things (most of the game, actually) that make the game deserve it's Mature ratng.

So, Dadwithaquestion, thanks for caring about what you expose your child to.  The world needs more good parents like you.

Incidentally (and on topic) this is easy to do. Trivially easy, actually. The scenes can be replaced with the "kiss and fade to black" you normally get whenever you initiate sex with someone after the first time (being the pervert that I am, I actually did the reverse - replaced the kiss-and-fade with new cutscenes, but... that's just me lol).

Someone actually asked for parental controls for a Mature game intended for a Mature audience.

/facepalm

And to answer the question, no you can't remove/disable the sex scene by default. Technically it could be achieved by a mod, but I doubt anyone is gonna make a mod for that.

The ratings system is there for a reason. There is no reason why Bioware would give one the option to disable this stuff since it was rated M or 18 here in the UK. Sorry, your son shouldn't be playing this game at all, and I'd be more concerned that he was seeing simulated death rather than seeing simulated sexual intercourse.

Technically (and this is on topic), a Mod could be made to kill all the sex scenes, make it so you can't use the prostitutes in The Peral, and kill all the blood/gore... even then, as people have said, you can't shut down most of the games dialog and other things.
