Still in the writing process, but I'd like to get some comments on what I have so far.

The guide will be a comprehensive overview of the exterior level editor. Not a how-to, but more of a 'option A does this and is used like this' type of guide. While most of the information is present, somewhere, in the wiki, it isn't all in one spot.
Comments wanted on tutorial rough draft

Thanks for this! I've been trying to figure out the camera controls for the level editor.

Very nice work. This is looking more like a user manual than a guide, which is a big plus IMHO. Many guides and tutorials are written simply to get someone started using a toolset, and I find that frustrating once the ball is rolling and you really want to know something beyond making a hill or door transition.

It seems pretty clear... why are you making a new "sandbox topic"? Most of the
information you've provided would prove more useful (at least to me) if it was
integrated into the details of the various other level topics that already
exist. If you want to give a simple sandbox tutorial... many of the things you
talk about aren't really all that applicable.
If I wanted a sandbox I’d just generate terrain > gen lighting > gen start point > gen
pathing > save > export.

The sandbox area on the wiki is for articles that aren't ready to be part of the main wiki yet. Nothing to do with creating a 'sandbox' type level for playing around in.

Not bad. Only thing is that some steps are a little different when creating rooms (I don't think you have to Define area. (if you do I haven't figured this out yet). None the less great job.

The more I've thought about it, the more it makes sense to call this the Exterior Level Editor Manual. Even though indoor areas might be very similar, I'd still probably want to split that manual off into a separate category, as there's a lot of terrain specific material here that wouldn't apply. Needs more investigation though.

Thanks for working on this. I've been stumbling around the level editor for a couple of days now, like many people, I'm sure. The wiki has been helpful, but the wiki site is a work-in-progress that skips a lot of steps and even basic definitions. Anything that helps flesh out the available information is a godsend. Here are nagging questions I've had that aren't pressing but perhaps should be included in your tutorial:
How do you make the sun visible (an actual disc, not just directional sunlight)?
What is the difference between Post to Local and and Do All Local Posts (does one just convert .lvl to .arl? Is the .erf dealt with in this process, too?)
If you go back and alter the level and repost it to an area where you already have creatures and placeables, will you lose your work (I suspect not, but would set people's minds at ease)?

Actually Languard, the wiki tutorials assume a level of expertese that makes it difficult for noobies to learn to use the editor.
So anything that explains those missing things is definitely going to be useful around here
Thanks for posting it

Awesome work. There needs to be guides like this for every interface in the toolset.
