First of all, thank you to anyone who takes their time to look at my post to see if they can help by any means....

--I bought the Dragon age Origins Ultimate eddition from steam

--My game is patched for V1.04
                      Launcher is V1.01
                      config is      V1.03
however my "uninstall dragon age.exe says nothing

                                      SPECS
using an alienware M17x10

processor: Intel Core i7 CPU Q 740 1.73GHz
Ram : 8 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HT 5870
                    VRAM 1GB
                    Doesn't say a driver version

Sound Adaptor: Speakers / Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)
                           Does not say driver version

Version of Windows: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
                                  Direct X 11

I do not have any 3rd party mods that I am aware of
                                                                   THE PROBLEM
and finally my problem.... (If there is anything you can tell me about drivers I would appreciate it.  i.e updating them, how to know when they're in need of an update, how to know what I need to update them to etc.)

My problem is that I was able to play Dragon age origins ultimate eddition just fine up until recently (nearly 70 hours of gameplay); however, I had to restart my comp and reboot it back to factory settings and reinstall all my stuff.  Now when I open dragon age ultimate edditions and press play that starting screen goes away and nothing happens.  I've tried reinstalling this game 3 times now, i've tried lowering all the settings to the lowest setting.  I would prefer not to have to completly wipe steam off of my laptop again, but if need be could someone give me some specific instructions? maybe just for deleting anything that has to do with dragon age.

thank you again for taking a look at my problem

You may be able to bypass that starting screen. I don't know the specifics because I don't have my system in front of me at the moment, but the starting screen is basically just a launcher for other processes, and it's not launching them. You can usually launch those processes manually yourself.

Try pulling up the folder you've got the game installed into and look at the EXE files in it. They probably have obvious names. Try anything that looks safe (I would probably sort by size and start with the biggest one).

Send me a message and I'll check it out tonight.
